A nomination is therefore not a vote for the final winner. It is a public suggestion that helps determine which entries reach the fan-voting shortlist.

Who can nominate
The nomination page is written for the public. Anyone who wants to put forward a favourite eligible mobile game or another qualifying entry can use the form. Pocket Gamer’s announcement describes the period as an opportunity for fans to make their voices heard and says, “Across a number of key categories, we invite YOU to nominate your favourites from the last year, so that we can highlight and celebrate the most important mobile interactive entertainment.”
You may nominate more than one entry. Each nomination should be made in the category where the entry most clearly belongs. A single game can be suitable for several categories when it genuinely meets each category’s subject, but do not treat every category as interchangeable: a game, an update, a character, a community, a webshop, a collaboration and a company are different kinds of nominee.
Eligibility: the release window and its exceptions
Most categories use 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026
For most categories, the relevant eligibility window is 1 October 2025 through 30 September 2026. This is the date test to apply when you are considering a recent-release category. A game released before 1 October 2025 or after 30 September 2026 should not be treated as eligible for a category that follows the standard launch rule.

Updates should fall within that period where possible. If you are nominating an update rather than the base game, use the date of the update as the practical timing check and make sure the category is actually about updates.

Six categories do not use the launch-date rule
The official award pages specifically say that the launch-date requirement does not apply to these categories:
- Best Character
- Best Game We’re Still Playing
- Best Community
- Best Webshop
- Best Game Update
- Best In-Game Collab
These exceptions allow recognition of ongoing games, features and activity that may not have launched during the standard window. They do not mean that every old game qualifies for every award: the entry still needs to fit the category’s subject. For example, an older title may be considered for Best Game We’re Still Playing because of continuing player engagement, while a character nomination should concern the character rather than simply the age of the game.
Developer, publisher and indie-developer awards
Company-focused awards are judged with the nominee’s catalogue in mind. That means the body of work matters, not just one isolated release. Recent releases should still be considered, but a developer or publisher nomination should reflect the strength and significance of its catalogue during the relevant awards cycle. Do not enter a company in a game-only field, or enter a single game when the category asks you to assess a developer, publisher or indie developer.
How to submit a nomination
- Open Pocket Gamer’s official nomination page. Look for the page titled Pocket Gamer Awards 2027 – Nominate now! Use the page’s embedded nomination form rather than an unofficial poll or social-media post.
- Read the category choices before typing. Decide whether you are nominating a game, a character, an update, a community, a webshop, an in-game collaboration, a developer, a publisher or another category entry. The category determines which eligibility rule applies.
- Select the relevant category in the embedded form. Choose the category that describes the achievement you want recognised. If the form presents categories in a menu, select the one first so that the following field is interpreted correctly.
- Enter the mobile game’s official name. Type the title as it is officially styled, including punctuation, subtitles and capitalisation where practical. Avoid nicknames, abbreviations or a store description that could make the nominee difficult to identify.
- Submit the form. Check the category and spelling once, then send the nomination. Pocket Gamer’s page says, “That’s all there is to it. Check out the form below, get nominating… and thanks for taking part.”
- Repeat for additional entries if you wish. The public announcement says readers may nominate multiple entries. Treat each submission as a separate category decision and do not assume that one submission automatically covers every category.
The official pages do not publish a requirement to upload screenshots, supply a written justification, pay a fee or prove that you are the developer. Do not add invented evidence or claim that a developer account is necessary. If the live form later displays an instruction, follow the instruction shown there; the published information establishes only the simple category-and-name process above.

Choosing the right category
Use four checks before submitting: release timing, category fit, continuing activity and nominee type. The following framework keeps those checks separate.

When a game fits more than one category
Multiple nominations are allowed, but each should have a distinct reason. A recent game might qualify for a game-of-the-year style category under the normal release window and separately qualify for Best Game Update if it received a significant update during the period. An older game cannot use the ordinary launch-based route merely because it remains popular; it must fit one of the listed exceptions or another category whose rules permit it.
When you are unsure about the date
Use the game’s original launch date for a launch-based category, not the date you personally started playing. For an update category, consider the update’s release date. If a game launched in stages, the official award page does not publish a separate rule explaining regional, early-access or soft-launch treatment; avoid presenting an uncertain date as confirmed eligibility and choose a clearly applicable category when possible.
What happens after you submit
Pocket Gamer collects the public nominations during the 15 October–15 November period. It then totals them and creates a shortlist. The shortlisted entries move to fan voting, which remains open through 20 December 2026. The winners stage follows in early 2027; the process page describes January as the winners period.

The published material does not provide a points formula, minimum nomination threshold or guaranteed-shortlist rule. A nomination should therefore be understood as input to Pocket Gamer’s shortlist process, not as a promise that the game will appear on the ballot. Likewise, being shortlisted is separate from winning: fans decide the result during the later voting stage.

Submitting after the deadline
15 November 2026 is the stated closing date. Do not wait for the final hours, because the official page does not state a precise closing time or time zone. Submit while the form is available during the published period.
Using the wrong release rule
The six exceptions are easy to overlook. If the title is outside the 1 October 2025–30 September 2026 window, check Best Character, Best Game We’re Still Playing, Best Community, Best Webshop, Best Game Update or Best In-Game Collab only when the entry genuinely belongs there. Do not assume that an exception removes every other category condition.

For a character, update or collaboration category, identify the relevant game clearly and select the feature-based category. For a developer or publisher award, identify the company rather than entering one of its games as though it were the company nominee.

Using an unofficial title
Store listings, regional versions and community shorthand can differ. Enter the official game name as displayed by the game’s publisher or on its official listing, while preserving subtitles and punctuation as accurately as possible.
Assuming supporting documents are mandatory
No published nomination instruction requires a portfolio, review code, screenshots, payment or a written case. Do not delay a nomination while assembling material that the form does not request.
The embedded form does not load
Because the nomination tool is embedded in a web page, first reload the official page and try a current browser with scripting enabled. If privacy or content-blocking settings prevent embedded content, temporarily adjust those settings for the page or try another browser. Confirm that the form actually shows a successful submission before repeating the entry, so you do not create accidental duplicates.
What the nomination does—and does not—cost
The public nomination action is a free web submission. There is no published fee for nominating a game, and the official pages do not describe a paid placement, developer entry package or required purchase. A nomination also does not require buying the game or proving that you work for its developer.
Do not confuse these awards with another Pocket Gamer programme
The Pocket Gamer Awards are separate from the Mobile Games Awards associated with PocketGamer.biz. They use different programme names and should not be treated as one event when you are checking dates, categories or eligibility. For this question, use the page specifically titled Pocket Gamer Awards 2027 – Nominate now! and the dates listed for that programme.
