You can reduce some AI-related posts, but no platform covered here offers a dependable switch that removes every AI-generated item everywhere. TikTok and Pinterest have reported AI-specific feed controls, though access may depend on rollout. On X, keyword muting is a limited workaround; YouTube, Facebook and Instagram mainly describe labels and recommendation feedback, not a universal AI-content filter. Check your current app: labels, settings and availability can vary by account.
Choose the control that matches what you want to change
A setting that changes recommendations is different from a label that identifies content. Labels may rely on creator disclosures or platform detection, so they do not catch every AI-assisted or generated post. Start with an AI-specific preference if your app offers one; otherwise use topic controls, keywords, feed feedback or followed-account timelines as available.

TikTok: adjust the For You mix if the setting is available
TikTok announced a test of an AI-generated-content setting inside Manage Topics for the For You feed. If it appears in your account, use it to move the amount of AI-generated content up or down. The setting is intended to tailor the feed, not remove or replace all such content. TikTok says the feature complements topic adjustments, customizable keyword filters and the Not interested control. Because it was announced as a test, menus and access may differ by account or change over time. TikTok’s announcement.

That is the company’s cumulative figure, not an independently measured estimate of how much AI content appears in feeds. A label is not the same as a feed-muting control.

Pinterest: look for the GenAI interests tuner
The Associated Press reported in January 2026 that Pinterest was rolling out a GenAI interests tuner through recommendation settings. It described category toggles for areas considered prone to AI generation or modification, with staged availability across Android, desktop and iOS. Since that report does not establish the current rollout state or exact menu path for every account, check recommendation settings in your app rather than relying on a fixed sequence of taps. The tuner adjusts selected categories; it is not documented as a complete platform-wide block. Associated Press report.
X: use Following or mute specific terms
X distinguishes its Following timeline, which shows posts from accounts you follow, from For You, which includes recommendations. Following can reduce recommended material, but does not remove AI posts from accounts you follow.

For a more targeted workaround, mute a short list of words or hashtags likely to appear in posts you do not want. X says word muting applies to the Home timeline and notifications, not as a platform-wide AI filter. Terms such as “AI-generated” or “synthetic” are only examples to consider: posts may not use those words, and muting broad terms such as “AI” can also hide useful news or discussion. X’s documentation explains the scope in its recommendations guidance. You can also use recommendation feedback, but it is not an AI-specific detector; see X’s controls for your experience.

YouTube: treat labels as disclosures, not filters
YouTube describes labels for realistic or meaningfully AI-altered or generated content. Its approach includes a label below long-form videos and an overlay on Shorts; less realistic, animated or slightly altered content may have disclosure in the expanded description. Starting in May 2026, YouTube began rolling out internal signals that can automatically apply a label when substantial photorealistic AI use is detected and the creator did not disclose it. That scope does not establish that every AI-assisted video will be labeled.

YouTube says a disclosure label alone does not change how a video is recommended. Recommendation feedback on individual videos or channels may help tune your feed, but the cited guidance does not establish an AI-only viewer filter. See YouTube’s explanation of its AI labels.

Meta describes AI Info labels and related context for AI-generated or manipulated media. Its cited policy says content generally remains available with labels unless it separately violates platform rules; content rated False or Altered by fact-checkers is ranked lower in Feed. That is not the same as a control to suppress every AI post. The policy description is from 2024, so check the current app for any newer recommendation options. Meta’s labeling policy.

Meta also reported that 82% of respondents in research involving more than 23,000 people across 13 countries favored warning labels for AI-generated content depicting people saying things they did not say. That finding concerns that specific scenario and reflects Meta’s 2024 research; it is not a measure of public opinion on all AI content.

Make a feed less AI-heavy without expecting a perfect filter
- Check for an AI-specific preference. Look in the platform’s content, topic or recommendation settings. TikTok’s test and Pinterest’s reported tuner may not be available to every account.
- Use the platform’s general recommendation controls. Adjust topics, mark unwanted posts Not interested, or give feedback on videos and accounts where those options exist. These signals can tune recommendations without reliably identifying AI content.
- Use keyword muting only where supported. Choose a small, deliberate set of terms or hashtags. This can miss unlabeled posts and suppress legitimate posts that use the same words.
- Choose a followed-account feed when useful. On X, Following replaces For You recommendations with posts from accounts you follow, but those accounts can still post AI-related material.
- Review the result and adjust. If useful posts disappear, remove broad terms or restore topics. App labels and controls can change, and a label should not be treated as proof that every unlabeled post was made without AI.
