You can move eligible Xbox app games through the app’s Manage controls; whether that option appears depends on the game. The available guidance does not establish a reliable Battle.net move procedure, so use that launcher’s current game settings or Blizzard’s accessible support instructions rather than following Xbox steps.
Move an eligible Xbox app game
Xbox Wire described moving and repairing supported games through the Xbox app’s Manage view in a November 18, 2021 announcement. The exact labels may have changed since then, and not every game necessarily offers a move option. Check the installed game’s controls in your current app.

- Open the Xbox app and find the installed game in your library.
- Open Manage. Xbox Wire’s published workflow is to right-click the game and select Manage.
- Check for a move option. If the game offers one, select the destination drive and start the move.
- Wait for the move to finish before launching the game. Confirm it remains in your library and starts successfully. If it does not, use the app’s available repair or support option instead of changing protected installation folders manually.
The feature and its title-by-title availability are described in Xbox Wire’s announcement.
Battle.net games: check the current launcher before moving files
There is no verified Battle.net relocation sequence to give here. The available Blizzard support result for article 000167168 led to a login-gated page whose instructions could not be read; it does not establish which controls are available, whether a game must be relinked, or what the current labels are.

Open the installed Battle.net client and check the settings for the specific game you want to move. Follow only the move or locate-game instructions shown there, or consult Blizzard guidance you can access. Do not assume that Xbox app instructions apply to Battle.net.

An internal secondary drive is a practical option if your PC has one. An external drive may also be usable, but Xbox Wire cautions: “You may experience issues launching games installed on an external drive.” That is a possibility, not a claim that every external drive or game will fail. If you use one, keep it connected and test the game after the move.

If the game is missing after a move
- Check the game’s library and the launcher’s available repair or support controls.
- For owned Microsoft content that cannot be found on the PC, Microsoft Support directs users to check what they own in Microsoft Store on the PC. This is a recovery option for locating owned content, not a general method for moving Xbox app installations.
- Avoid manually copying protected WindowsApps folders or changing permissions, symlinks, or registry entries as a workaround; those methods are not validated by the official guidance cited here.
