How to Move Touch ’n Go Card Balance to TNG eWallet

You can’t transfer stored value directly from a physical Touch ’n Go (TNG) card into TNG eWallet. TNG’s published guidance says the balances are separate. To recover the card balance, submit an e-Refund request; after verification, TNG may refund it to a TNG eWallet or an eligible bank account. The card is terminated after its balance is refunded.

Can I transfer my TNG card balance to eWallet?

No. A physical TNG card’s stored balance is separate from your TNG eWallet balance, and TNG says moving the card balance through the app is not available. Its Help Centre article dated 22 April 2022 states: “This function is NOT available at the moment via Touch ’n Go eWallet .” The article directs cardholders to submit a refund request through the TNG e-Refund Portal instead.

Adding or viewing a card in the app does not turn its stored value into wallet funds. For an enhanced NFC card, you can check its balance by selecting the card in the app and scanning it against the back of your phone; that is only a balance check, not a transfer. See TNG’s guidance on transfers between existing and enhanced cards.

How to request a refund of the card balance

  1. Check which balance you want to recover. Make sure it is the value stored on the physical card, not money already held in TNG eWallet. If you have an enhanced NFC card, use the app’s NFC scan to check its card balance.
  2. Open the official e-Refund form. Use the TNG e-Refund Portal and submit a request for the card. TNG’s guidance describes this as a refund request, not an instant or in-app transfer.
  3. Provide the requested details and destination. TNG lists a TNG eWallet, a Malaysian bank account, or a foreign bank account as possible refund destinations. Follow the options and requirements shown on the current form; eligibility and required information depend on TNG’s verification.
  4. Wait for verification. TNG says its team verifies the request before processing a refund. The cited guidance does not give a processing-time estimate, so check the form or contact support for current status and requirements.

What happens to the card after a refund?

TNG says the card is terminated after its balance has been refunded. Treat the request as recovering the card’s stored value, not moving that value while keeping the card active. If you still need a physical card, consider this consequence before submitting the request.

If the card is lost or no longer used

Lost card

Use the e-Refund form or contact TNG support. If available, provide the card’s 10-digit serial or manufacturing number; TNG says this helps it block the card and process any applicable balance refund. A refund is not guaranteed solely by providing the number—the request remains subject to TNG’s process.

Card you no longer use

If the card is still in your possession, submit an e-Refund request to recover its balance. TNG’s guidance also mentions transferring card ownership as an option for a card you no longer use, but changing ownership is not the same as transferring the stored balance to eWallet. See TNG’s guidance for unused cards with a remaining balance.

If a newly received enhanced card has a manufacturing fault

TNG’s article dated 22 April 2026 says a qualifying newly received enhanced card with a manufacturing fault may be eligible for a complimentary replacement within 30 days, with proof of purchase. For balance loaded onto the faulty card, TNG separately directs customers to e-Refund or e-Customer Service. Check the current warranty terms and support instructions before relying on replacement eligibility; this is a separate process from transferring card value to eWallet.
