Windows 11 can show the taskbar on every connected monitor, but Microsoft’s documented taskbar setting does not move it exclusively to one chosen secondary monitor. To enable the taskbar across displays, right-click the taskbar, open Taskbar settings, expand Taskbar behaviors, and turn on Show my taskbar on all displays.
Show the taskbar on all connected monitors
- Right-click an empty area of the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
- Expand Taskbar behaviors.
- Turn on Show my taskbar on all displays. The taskbar will appear on connected displays. Microsoft describes the control as an option to display the taskbar on multiple monitors: Microsoft’s Windows taskbar guidance.
Can you move it to only one secondary monitor?
Microsoft’s documented Windows 11 taskbar instructions describe showing the taskbar on all connected displays; they do not document a built-in option to show it exclusively on one selected secondary display while hiding it from the others. If that is your goal, the documented toggle does not provide that arrangement.

Check that Windows detects and arranges both displays
- Open Settings > System > Display. Select Identify to see which number corresponds to each physical monitor.
- If the second monitor is missing, expand Multiple displays and select Detect. Check that the display cable is properly connected to the PC or dock if it still does not appear. See Microsoft’s multiple-monitor guidance.
- To match the on-screen layout to your desk, drag the display rectangles into the positions you want, then select Apply. This controls screen placement and pointer movement between monitors; it does not change which displays show the taskbar.
Choose the right display mode
Press Windows key + P to choose a projection mode. Extend gives you a desktop spread across multiple screens. Second screen only sends the desktop output to the second display and turns off the PC screen. These options affect the desktop display mode, not just the taskbar.
