Use Samsung’s My Files app to copy or move photos from an inserted microSD card into the phone’s internal storage. If you want to keep the card originals until you have checked the transfer, choose Copy first.

Open My Files, often found in the Samsung folder, and tap SD card.

Open the folder containing the photos, commonly a camera or pictures folder. Touch and hold a photo to select it, then tap any other photos you want to transfer.

Tap Copy or Move. Choose Copy if you want to leave the originals on the card while you verify the new files.

Return to the My Files home screen and tap Internal storage. Open or create a destination folder, such as DCIM or Pictures.

Tap Copy here or Move here. Open the destination folder and check several images before deleting any remaining card originals.

For important photos, copying first gives you time to confirm the internal-storage copies open correctly. Remove the card versions only after you are satisfied with the destination copies.

If My Files does not show the SD card
The card option appears only when a supported card is inserted. Not every Galaxy model has a microSD slot; check the specifications for your exact model before troubleshooting the card itself. Samsung also states that “Samsung Android devices do not support the Adoptable storage feature.” That means an SD card is a separate storage location, not expandable internal storage under that feature. If the card is inserted but not recognized

Remove the card and check that it is seated correctly, then reinstall it.

If it still does not appear, test it in another compatible device to help determine whether the issue is with the card or the phone.

Do not format the card if it contains photos you want. Formatting permanently erases its data. Back up its contents before formatting. Samsung UK support guidance.
Why use My Files instead of Gallery?
Gallery offers Move to album and Copy to album for organizing photos into albums, but those album actions are not the clearest procedure for moving files between the SD card and internal storage. Use My Files to select the storage location and destination folder directly. Samsung Support: Move files between storage locations; Samsung Support: Manage photos and videos in Gallery.
Alternatives if the phone has no card slot
If your Galaxy cannot accept the card directly, Samsung describes USB OTG external storage and transfer through a computer as other ways to access files. Depending on your phone and setup, you may need a compatible card reader, adapter, or cable. Check that the phone supports USB OTG and that the connector matches before buying an accessory. These are fallback routes; they are not required when My Files can access an inserted card. Samsung Support.
