You can move most data from an iPhone to a Xiaomi with Android setup copy or Xiaomi’s Mi Mover, but no single route is guaranteed to transfer everything. Treat WhatsApp as a separate migration, check iCloud photos independently, and keep the iPhone unchanged until you have verified the Xiaomi.
Choose a transfer route
Use one main route for ordinary phone data, then transfer WhatsApp separately and fill any confirmed gaps. The exact prompts and available methods depend on the Xiaomi model, Android or HyperOS version, iOS version, region, cable connectors, and app versions.

Prepare both phones
- Charge both devices. Xiaomi’s Mi Mover instructions call for at least 30% battery on each phone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, and the latest Mi Mover app.
- Check that the Xiaomi has enough free storage for the data you plan to move, as Google’s Android copy guidance advises.
- If you will move WhatsApp, keep access to the same phone number and do not activate WhatsApp on the Xiaomi before its transfer flow.
- Choose whether to use a local transfer or a cloud route for items that need separate handling. Xiaomi describes Mi Mover as peer-to-peer over Wi-Fi Direct. Its privacy policy says that an iCloud-based migration may involve your Apple ID, password, and verification code; Xiaomi says those details are used for the transfer and not retained. If you are uncomfortable entering Apple credentials in that flow, use another route.
- Check the connectors on your iPhone, Xiaomi, and cable if you plan to use wired Android setup copy. An adapter may be needed for some combinations, but not all.
Move ordinary data to the Xiaomi
Option 1: Copy during Android setup
- Start the Xiaomi’s initial Android setup and look for the option to copy apps and data from an iPhone or iPad.
- Follow the prompts shown on both devices. Google documents cable and wireless copy where available; the exact steps and options depend on the phone.
- Disable iMessage as directed by Google’s migration guidance so messages to your number can reach the Android phone.
Google notes that iCloud-stored photos and videos are not included in the ordinary device copy. Plan a separate transfer for those items and verify them before relying on the Xiaomi as your only copy.
Option 2: Use Xiaomi Mi Mover
- Install or update Mi Mover on both phones, then open the app on each.
- On the iPhone, choose Old; on the Xiaomi, choose New. Connect the devices when the Xiaomi is detected.
- Select the data types you want to send and start the transfer.
- Keep the phones close, screens on, and Mi Mover in the foreground until it finishes. Xiaomi warns that compatibility can vary by source model and operating system.
Xiaomi’s official Mi Mover support page describes the process as local and peer-to-peer: “The entire transfer process is local and peer‑to‑peer, meaning your data is not uploaded to any server, ensuring your privacy is fully protected.” That description applies to Mi Mover’s stated transfer route; Xiaomi’s separate privacy policy describes possible Apple ID credentials when an iCloud-based migration is used.

Use one of these as the main phone-data import rather than running overlapping full migrations. The available guidance does not establish whether imports merge cleanly on every Xiaomi model. Use another method only to address a specific item you find missing.
Transfer WhatsApp separately
WhatsApp has its own iPhone-to-Android process. The WhatsApp Help Center’s documented flow requires the same phone number on both devices, a stable Wi-Fi connection, current app versions, and the iPhone unlocked during transfer. Complete it before activating WhatsApp on the Xiaomi.

- On the iPhone, open WhatsApp and go to Chats > Transfer chat history > Transfer to Android.
- Follow the prompts and scan the QR code displayed by Android when asked.
- Keep the iPhone unlocked and wait for the transfer to finish before setting up WhatsApp on the Xiaomi.
WhatsApp’s help page lists account information, individual and group chats, communities, channel updates, call history, files, and settings among the items its documented method can transfer. It says display name, status updates, channel media, peer-to-peer payment messages, and WhatsApp Business chats are not transferred by this method. Feature support can change, so follow the current prompts in the app. Do not erase old data before confirming the transfer.
Recover photos, contacts, or files that are missing
Check photos and videos first
Compare recent and older photos, albums, and videos on the Xiaomi with the iPhone. Pay particular attention to items stored in iCloud: Google’s setup-copy guidance says iCloud photos and videos require a separate route.

Xiaomi’s published iOS guide describes backing up selected images, contacts, and calendar events through Google Drive, then syncing the Google account on the Xiaomi. The page states a free backup capacity of 15 GB; check the current app screens and available account storage before relying on that limit or starting an upload, since the published interface or policy may have changed.
Send a few individual files with Xiaomi Share
For selected files or photos missed in the main migration, Xiaomi Share may work between supported Apple and Xiaomi devices when its device and app requirements are met. Received files appear in File Manager > Download > MiShare. It is a file-sharing option, not a full contacts, messages, or chat migration.

Check contacts and calendar entries
If contacts or calendar events are missing, Xiaomi’s Google Drive route is a possible fallback for selected information: back up the supported items through Google Drive on the iPhone and sync the same Google account on the Xiaomi. Confirm the entries on the Xiaomi rather than assuming a backup has restored them.

Verify the move before retiring the iPhone
- Open Contacts and check both recent and older entries, including a few important names and phone numbers.
- Review representative photo albums and videos, especially older items and anything stored in iCloud.
- Open WhatsApp and check individual and group chats and their media against the iPhone.
- Test incoming SMS and calls, and confirm iMessage is disabled.
- Keep the iPhone and its data intact until these checks are satisfactory. Transfer methods have exclusions, and WhatsApp specifically advises against erasing old data before confirming its transfer.
