The exact steps depend on the minimalist phone: for example, Light Phone documents contact imports through its Dashboard, while Mudita Kompakt documents contact imports and a computer-based photo upload through Mudita Center. Do not erase your old phone until you have verified what arrived on the new one.
Before you start: identify where your data lives
Check whether your contacts are saved on the old phone itself, in iCloud, Google Contacts, Outlook, or on a SIM. Photos may be stored locally, in a cloud library, or both. Messages are a separate case: support for moving SMS, MMS, iMessage, RCS, or an entire conversation history depends on the destination model.

- Charge both phones and keep the old phone available until you have checked the imported data.
- Look up the destination manufacturer’s current transfer instructions before choosing an app, cable, or export format.
- If a computer or account login is required, make sure you can access it before beginning.
Move contacts using the destination phone’s documented import method
VCF, also called vCard, is a standard format for contact files; CSV is another format accepted by some models. Exporting a file does not guarantee every custom field will map exactly, so check names, phone numbers, and any important details after importing.

- Open the Light Phone Dashboard and go to Phone > Contacts > Import Contacts.
- For iCloud, follow the guide’s documented account method using an Apple app-specific password, or export contacts from iCloud as a vCard and upload the resulting .vcf file.
- For Google, export contacts as a vCard/VCF file from Google Contacts, then upload it through the Dashboard.
- Allow the Light Phone to sync. The support guide says the default sync interval is every four hours; use the settings to trigger an immediate sync if needed.
- Open several contacts on the phone and verify the information before relying on the import.
Light Phone Support states: “There is currently no way to import contacts via a SIM card.” See the Light Phone contact-import guide for current instructions.

Mudita Kompakt: import through Mudita Center
- Connect the Kompakt to a computer and open Mudita Center.
- Use Mudita Center to import selected or all contacts from Google or Outlook, or upload a CSV or vCard file created from Outlook, Google, or iCloud.
- Keep the phone connected while the import runs; Mudita advises not to disconnect it during the process.
- Check a sample of contacts on the phone for correct names and numbers.
See Mudita’s Kompakt contact-import instructions. If you use another minimalist phone, follow its own maker’s guide rather than assuming these workflows or formats apply.
Move photos as a separate job
Do not assume a contacts import or phone setup tool will also bring over your photo library. First determine whether the originals are on the old phone or only in a cloud service, then use a route documented for the destination.

Mudita Kompakt: upload image files from a computer
- Connect the Kompakt to a computer and open Mudita Center.
- Choose Your Kompakt > Manage Files > Photos.
- Click Add file, select the images to upload, and confirm.
Mudita documents this computer-assisted image upload; it does not establish a direct phone-to-phone migration or cloud-library sync. See the Kompakt photo instructions.
iPhone photos in iCloud
For a general iPhone-to-Android move, Google distinguishes photos and videos stored on the device from content stored in iCloud. Its instructions describe requesting a copy of iCloud photos and videos through privacy.apple.com, then uploading that copy to a Google Account. That route is not proof that a minimalist phone can import the resulting library. Check the destination model’s photo workflow before using general Android guidance.

- The Light Phone II is currently compatible with certain carriers in the US. Compatible carriers include: LIGHT, AT&T, T-MOBILE, VERIZON (except prepaid plans and Numbershare), TING, MINT, US MOBILE. It will not work with carriers that are not listed.
- Standalone minimalist phone that can be used to call and text. Group texting is supported
- The Light Phone II is built around a user-customizable menu of tools. All of the tools are custom-designed for our LightOS to ensure a thoughtful, and private user experience. Available tools currently include an alarm, a calculator, directions, a simple music player, notes/voice memo, calendar and a podcasts tool. The phone also supports hotspot tethering. We'll continue to release other utility-oriented tools, which will be available with software updates.
Google’s pages explain the platform routes: iPhone-to-Android copying and switching to Android.
Messages: confirm support for your exact model
Do not count on SMS, MMS, iMessage, RCS, or complete message-history transfer unless the maker of your destination phone explicitly documents a supported method. The cited Light Phone contact guide and Mudita Kompakt contact and photo instructions do not establish a message-history import route. That leaves support unconfirmed for those workflows; it does not prove that no minimalist phone can import messages.

Google’s general iPhone-to-Android setup instructions say to turn off iMessage and describe data categories that may not transfer through the normal setup process. Those instructions apply to Google’s Android transfer process, not automatically to a minimalist device. If you are moving from iPhone, follow Google’s current iPhone-to-Android guidance where applicable, and separately confirm message support with the destination maker.

Google’s wired iPhone-to-Android instructions say to use the iPhone’s charging cable and note that an adapter may be needed if it does not fit both devices. A cable is useful only if the destination supports that transfer process. Check the exact phone model, ports, and required adapter first; a USB-C connector or generic platform migration app alone does not establish compatibility.
