Set Huawei as the new device, Android as the old device, connect the phones using the app’s QR-code or manual connection flow, then select the categories Phone Clone offers. Huawei lists contacts, images, and messages among its supported data, but the available categories can differ by device and app version.
Before you start
- Check AppGallery for Phone Clone compatibility with your Android phone; Huawei’s current support instructions direct users there rather than specifying a universal minimum Android version. Huawei’s current guide
- Charge both phones and install or update Phone Clone if prompted.
- Back up important data before transferring. Huawei warns that cloned data can overwrite some existing data on certain listed Pura 80 models. Read and follow any overwrite warning shown on your own Huawei phone; behavior may vary by model. Huawei’s regional support guidance
Transfer your data with Phone Clone
- On the Huawei phone, open Phone Clone. If you cannot find it, go to Settings > System & updates > Phone Clone.
- Choose This is the new device, then identify the old phone as Huawei or Other Android.
- On the old Android phone, install and open Phone Clone, then choose This is the old device.
- Connect the phones by scanning the code shown on the Huawei phone, or follow the app’s manual connection instructions.
- Review the data categories shown on the old phone. Select the categories you want to move, such as contacts, photos or messages when available, and start the transfer.
- Keep both phones nearby and follow the prompts until Phone Clone reports that the transfer is complete.
Huawei describes Phone Clone as a phone-to-phone wireless transfer that does not require WLAN or mobile data. Its global product page says the app creates a private, encrypted connection; that is Huawei’s security claim, not an independent security assessment. Huawei Phone Clone

Which data can move?
Huawei’s support guide lists contacts, calendar, images, and videos as basic data. Its product page also names messages, call records, and apps. A separate, older Huawei guide includes text and multimedia messages, call logs, photos, audio, videos, documents, and apps, but its age means it should not be treated as a guarantee for current devices. Contacts and images or photos are listed in Huawei’s current and product materials. Look for those categories in the selection screen and confirm they are checked before you begin.

Text and multimedia messages
Huawei’s product page names messages, and its older guide specifically mentions text and multimedia messages. Check whether Phone Clone offers the message category on your devices before starting; support can vary with the source Android version, Phone Clone version, destination model, and region.
Apps and other files
Huawei names apps, call records, calendar items, videos, and other file types in its materials, but transferring an app does not guarantee that its private data or account state will transfer. Verify important app data separately and use the app’s own backup or account-restoration method when needed.

Does Phone Clone need Wi-Fi or mobile data?
Huawei says a WLAN connection and mobile data are not required for the Phone Clone transfer. The phones establish a direct wireless connection through the app. Follow the connection steps displayed on your devices rather than switching to a home Wi-Fi network or using mobile data to make the transfer work. Transfer time depends on the amount and type of data and the phones involved. Huawei advertises speeds of “up to 8 GB per minute,” but says the page’s animation is illustrative and does not represent real user experience. If a category is missing or the transfer does not finish
- Phone Clone is not available or will not connect: Check AppGallery for compatibility, make sure the app is installed or updated as prompted, and retry the app’s QR-code or manual connection flow.
- Messages or another category is not offered: Phone Clone can only transfer categories it presents for that pair of devices. Check the source and destination app versions and use the relevant app’s own backup or restore option for data that is not listed.
- The transfer stops: Keep both phones close, ensure they have enough charge, and follow the app’s on-screen prompts to reconnect or resume if offered.
- The Huawei phone already contains data: Pause and read any overwrite warning before continuing. Back up information on the destination phone if you need to preserve it.
Why an old Android-version minimum may not apply
An older Huawei support article cites Android 4.4 or later, but the current support guide directs users to check AppGallery for supported Android versions.
