The available setup guides do not describe a direct Restream-to-Gyre playlist import, nor do they establish that the same live event or URL will carry over.
Before you switch: preserve the stream and check eligibility
Save the media and document the current setup
Restream builds a playlist from video files in its library. Its guide says you cannot add, remove, or rearrange videos while that playlist is airing. Before changing services, keep a copy of every original file outside Restream and record the playlist order. Also note the stream title, description, thumbnail, privacy setting, planned start time, and any stream-specific settings. Restream describes its playlist workflow here: Create and stream a playlist of videos.

Confirm channel access and live eligibility
Use the Google account that owns the YouTube channel when authorizing Gyre, and check the channel’s current live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio before scheduling a cutover. Restream’s YouTube connection guide says phone verification and a 24-hour wait after first enabling live streaming apply to first-time activation as described there; channel status and platform requirements can change, so verify them in YouTube Studio rather than relying on that timing alone: Restream’s YouTube connection guide.

Check rights and plan features
Having the same video files in a new service does not grant permission to rebroadcast them. Make sure you have the appropriate rights to the video, audio, images, and any third-party material included in the stream, and review YouTube’s current live-stream and copyright guidance before going live. Gyre’s own explanation summarizes platform and copyright considerations, but it is not a substitute for current YouTube policy: Gyre’s overview of prerecorded YouTube streams.

Review the Gyre plan in your account for playlist and scheduler availability before relying on either feature. Gyre’s September 2026 setup guide listed scheduling on trial, Start+, and PRO+ plans, but not Start; plan features can change. Restream’s playlist requirements are separate and do not transfer to Gyre: its current guide says the Restream playlist feature requires an Upload & Stream add-on tier (Marathon or Media), supports up to 24 hours and 40 video entries, and cannot be edited during playback.
Rebuild the Restream playlist in Gyre
- Sign in to Gyre and select YouTube. Start the destination setup for the YouTube channel where the existing playlist stream runs. Gyre’s setup guide describes uploading or importing media, building a playlist, configuring the broadcast, then launching or scheduling it: Gyre’s prerecorded-stream setup guide.
- Authorize the channel. Connect using the Google account that owns the channel and grant the requested live-broadcast access. Gyre’s September 2026 API update says channel authorization can create a broadcast and bind a stream key; it also describes manual stream-key setup as an alternative. Follow the current options shown in your Gyre account.
- Upload or import the source files. Use your preserved originals and create a new Gyre playlist in the order you recorded. Do not assume that the Restream playlist object, captions, graphics, or event data can be imported directly; the retrieved setup information does not establish that cross-service transfer.
- Re-enter the broadcast details. Set and verify the title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy, and schedule in Gyre. The available information does not show that Restream metadata or an existing YouTube event transfers automatically.
- Inspect and test before the public switch. Where Gyre provides a file report or preview, check it. Test with suitable visibility and confirm the destination channel, video and audio playback, playlist order, and event details. This is a prudent operational step, not a promised migration test mode or a guarantee of zero downtime. Gyre recommends a playlist of at least one hour and ideally 3–5 hours; that is Gyre’s recommendation, not a YouTube requirement.
- Schedule or start Gyre, then stop Restream when appropriate. Check YouTube Studio and your transition plan before starting the new broadcast. Avoid sending overlapping streams to the same event unless you have confirmed the intended setup and what viewers will see. Once the Gyre stream is verified, end the Restream broadcast when the cutover allows.
What carries over—and what you should rebuild
| Item | What to do | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Video files | Keep the originals and upload or import them into Gyre. | Both services describe file-based workflows; the retrieved guides do not establish direct cross-service transfer. |
| Playlist order | Record it in Restream, then recreate it in Gyre. | Restream lets users order playlist files; Gyre has a separately built playlist. |
| Title, description, tags, thumbnail, privacy, schedule | Enter these again in Gyre and verify them in the setup. | No retrieved source says these details transfer from Restream. |
| YouTube channel connection | Authorize the channel in Gyre with the owner’s Google account. | Gyre describes channel authorization; Restream’s connection guide also emphasizes channel ownership. |
| Existing live event and URL | Check YouTube Studio and decide whether to create or schedule a new broadcast. | The available setup pages do not establish event or URL continuity between services. |
| Graphics, captions, chat, analytics | Check what your new setup needs and rebuild or configure it where necessary. | These may be service-specific; direct portability is not established. |
Looping and scheduling are not the same as migration
Gyre’s product guide describes continuous playback from its cloud service, restarting playback when the playlist ends. Restream’s Upload & Stream overview describes scheduling prerecorded single videos and playlists, and mentions replay looping up to 10 times. That Restream behavior is not evidence of an equivalent continuous loop, and neither service’s workflow means your account features, event metadata, or playlist object move with you. See Restream’s Upload & Stream overview and Gyre’s YouTube API update.
