How to Move a Full-Screen Game to Another Monitor in Windows 11

With the game active, press Windows key + Shift + Left arrow or Windows key + Shift + Right arrow to move its window to the monitor on that side. This built-in Windows shortcut is the quickest thing to try, but it may not work while a game is using exclusive full-screen mode. If it fails, check that Windows is extending the desktop and try the game in windowed or borderless windowed mode.

Move the game with the Windows shortcut

  1. Bring the game to the foreground.
  2. Press Windows key + Shift + Left arrow to move the active window to the monitor on the left, or Windows key + Shift + Right arrow to move it to the right. Windows documents this shortcut for moving the active window between monitors: Microsoft’s Windows keyboard shortcuts.
  3. If the target monitor is farther away in the display layout, press the shortcut again as needed.

The direction refers to Windows’ display arrangement, not necessarily where a screen physically sits on your desk. If the shortcut does nothing, the game may not be behaving like a movable desktop window in its current full-screen mode.

Check that Windows sees and extends both monitors

  1. Open Settings > System > Display.
  2. Select Identify to see which numbered display tile corresponds to each physical monitor. Drag the tiles to match the monitors’ left-to-right arrangement, then apply the layout.
  3. If a connected screen is missing, expand Multiple displays and select Detect.
  4. Press Windows key + P and choose Extend. In Extend mode, Windows provides a desktop across multiple screens and allows items to be moved between them.

These display identification, arrangement, detection, and Extend instructions are covered in Microsoft’s guide to using multiple monitors in Windows.

If the game will not move, change its display mode

Open the game’s display or graphics settings and change exclusive full-screen to Windowed or Borderless windowed. Then use the Windows shortcut to move the game. If the game allows it, you can reselect your preferred display mode afterward.

  • 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
  • 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.

This is a practical fallback, not a guaranteed sequence for every game: game controls and behavior vary, and Microsoft does not promise that the shortcut will reposition every exclusive full-screen game. If the game offers a monitor-selection setting, you can also choose the intended display there.

Should you change Windows’ windowed-game optimization?

Usually, not just to move the game. Windows 11 offers an optimization for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 games running in windowed or borderless windowed modes. Its purpose is related to performance and display features; Microsoft does not describe it as a requirement for moving a window.
