To mount three monitors safely, first match each display’s weight and VESA pattern to the exact arm, then secure the clamp or grommet base, assemble the pole and arms, attach the VESA plates with the correct screws, and lock every monitor before letting go. Finish by balancing the springs, routing cables, and checking that the desk and arm remain stable through their permitted movement.
Check compatibility before you assemble anything
Triple-monitor arms are not interchangeable. Two mounts that both hold three screens can have different weight limits, supported diagonals, VESA patterns, desk-thickness ranges, attachment hardware, and adjustment mechanisms. Read the manual for your exact model and remove each monitor’s original stand before recording its weight.

Record the four measurements that matter
- Weight: Check the monitor’s weight without its stand. Confirm the arm’s limit for each screen, not merely a headline total-load figure.
- Screen size: Stay within the arm’s stated diagonal range. Size alone does not prove compatibility; a large, light display and a small, heavy display can stress an arm differently.
- VESA spacing: Measure or verify the distance between the four mounting holes. Common patterns include 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm, but the exact mount specification controls.
- Back-panel shape: Recessed or curved backs may require spacers or longer screws. Make sure the screw reaches the threaded insert without bottoming out.
Two model examples show why the manual matters
The HDWR SolidHand-CM03U manual specifies three 17–27-inch displays, up to 6 kg per monitor, with 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm VESA patterns. Its shared crossbar moves the three screens as one assembly.

It uses an individual gas-spring arm for each screen. These figures belong to those named models; they are not universal triple-arm standards.
#1 Best Overall
- Fit for Your Monitors - Each monitor arm can only accommodate a maximum size of 32 inches. Monitors larger than 32 inches are not compatible. And the monitor must have VESA mounting holes of either 75x75mm or 100x100mm. The weight range of the screen must be from 4.4 lbs to 17.6 lbs. We recommend that you carefully verify this information before making a purchase.
- Super Space Saver - Conveniently frees up more valuable work space by elevating 3 monitors off of your desk, making your workstation spacious and clutter-free.
- Customized For Optimal View - The arms allow easy to adjust monitors swivel, tilt and rotate to find an optimal view angle and position for comfortable work. Freely set your monitors to landscape or portrait mode!
- Increase Comfort & Efficiency - Complete your work in 3 monitors at the same times with comfortable view position. Now you can enhance your work efficiency in comfortable work posture.
- Two installation options - Two separate installation options are provided: C-clamp or grommet mount. C-clamp fits desk thickness 0.39-3.15", grommet mount fits desk thickness 0.39-2.36". Both options securely hold your monitor. Choose the installation method that suits your needs.
Inspect the parts and the desk
Open the package before beginning and compare every bracket, screw, washer, spacer, clamp piece, grommet plate, cable cover, and adjustment key with the parts list. Do not install hardware that is bent, cracked, stripped, or missing. Check that the desk surface is solid enough for a concentrated load and that the chosen mounting location leaves room for the clamp or through-desk bolt.
Choose clamp or grommet mounting
Use a desk clamp when the rear or side edge gives the bracket a flat, unobstructed bite. Use a grommet installation only when the desk has a suitable hole, or when you can create one exactly as the manual specifies without hitting wiring, framing, or other obstructions.
Clamp fit is model-specific
For the SolidHand-CM03U, the clamp can be configured for a 10–58 mm desktop or, with the alternate bracket position, a 50–85 mm desktop. Those overlapping ranges correspond to different bracket positions; choose the one that matches your measured thickness. Do not transfer these limits to another arm.
Grommet fit requires access below the desk
A grommet mount passes hardware through the desktop and uses a washer or support plate underneath. Confirm that you can reach the underside to tighten it and that the hole is in the arm’s approved location. A decorative cable hole may be too large, too close to an edge, or unable to carry the load.
Secure the base before adding weight
- Clear the work area and remove anything that could catch the clamp, bolt, or moving arm.
- Position the base so the loaded monitors will stay within the desk’s supported footprint.
- Install the clamp or grommet hardware in the orientation shown in the manual.
- Tighten it firmly and evenly. The base should not slide, twist, lift, or compress the desktop excessively.
Do not proceed if the desk flexes noticeably, the clamp contacts only a thin lip, or the base cannot sit flat. A stable-looking arm can still pull a desk toward the rear when three displays are extended.
Assemble the pole, arms, and crossbar
Follow the manual’s fastener order because arm designs differ. Some use a shared crossbar with a center section and side rails; others use separate arms and collars on a vertical pole. Gas springs may be preloaded, so unfold or release them only in the instructed sequence and keep fingers clear of joints.
Shared-crossbar assemblies
On a crossbar design such as the CM03U, attach the pole and crossbar to the secured base, fit the center and side sections, and tighten the specified fasteners before hanging any screen. Set the approximate screen spacing while the bar is unloaded. The crossbar later allows the three displays to slide relative to one another, but its entire assembly rises and falls together.

Independent-arm assemblies
On an independent-arm design such as the SG03, mount the center head and each arm at the positions shown in the manual, then tighten the collars or locking hardware. Keep each arm supported while working; a spring-loaded arm can move unexpectedly before a monitor supplies its intended load.
Attach the VESA plates correctly
Work with one display at a time. Place the monitor face down on a clean, soft, level surface that will not press on the panel. Keep the original stand screws separate from the arm hardware.
Match thread, length, and spacing
- Align the plate’s four holes with the monitor’s VESA inserts.
- Choose the supplied screw thread that matches the monitor. The CM03U kit includes M4 and M5 monitor screws; another display may require a different size supplied by its manufacturer.
- Check screw length by hand before tightening. It must engage securely without reaching the bottom of the insert or pressing internal components.
- Use washers or spacers only where the manual or the monitor’s recessed back requires them. The SG03 instructions show that some curved or recessed backs need longer screws and spacers.
- Tighten the four screws evenly in a cross pattern. Stop when the plate is firmly seated; overtightening can strip the insert or damage the rear shell.
A screw that is too short may pull out under load. A screw that is too long can bottom out before the plate is tight or damage the monitor. If the supplied hardware does not fit, stop and obtain the correct specification instead of forcing it.
Hang each monitor and engage its lock
This is the point where a second person is most useful. One person should hold the display’s weight while the other hooks, slides, or lowers the VESA plate onto the arm head or crossbar.
Recommended Free Tools
- Bring the monitor to the attachment point without twisting the plate.
- Seat the plate fully on the hook, rail, or mounting head.
- Install and tighten the retaining screw, thumb screw, latch, or other locking device specified by the model.
- Have the helper keep supporting the monitor until you confirm that the lock is engaged.
- Gently test the connection with your hands before releasing the display.
Never let go merely because the plate appears to be resting on the bracket. Both the CM03U and SG03 procedures require a positive locking step. Repeat the sequence for the second and third monitors, keeping the arm supported whenever the manual calls for it.
Set spacing after all three are secure
With a crossbar, slide the displays to their approximate left, center, and right positions only after each plate is locked. With independent arms, move one screen at a time while keeping the other two clear of the arm’s travel. Leave enough separation for bezels, tilt adjustment, and cable plugs.
Balance the gas springs and level the screens
Spring adjustment should be done after all three monitors are installed because the total load changes the arm’s behavior. Support the arm while turning the adjustment control and use only the tool and direction described in the manual.

CM03U adjustment example
The CM03U instructions call for holding the arm or crossbar horizontal. If it drops under the monitors’ weight, turn the tension adjustment toward the plus direction. If it rises, turn toward the minus direction. Make small changes and test the position after each adjustment. The manual also provides a small crossbar-leveling adjustment for correcting a slight tilt across the three screens.
Independent arms require individual checks
On an arm with separate springs, adjust each arm with its own monitor attached. A lighter side display may need a different setting from a heavier center display. Other mechanisms can use different markings or directions, so do not apply the CM03U plus/minus procedure to another model unless its manual says the same.
Position within the supported range
Set tilt, swivel, height, and depth only within the arm’s stated limits. A monitor that feels stable at the desk may become unstable when extended fully forward or swung sideways. Keep the center of mass over the desk and avoid using the arm as a handle for lifting the desk.
Route cables without restricting movement
Connect video, power, and USB cables only after the screens are positioned. Leave a controlled loop near every moving joint so the cable does not become taut when the monitor rises, tilts, or swivels. Avoid loops large enough to catch on the pole, clamp, or neighboring arm.
The CM03U includes cable covers and a routing hook. Use those features without packing the channel so tightly that cables are pinched. For any mount, separate cables from sharp edges and check that connectors are not bearing sideways force at the monitor socket.
Test the full travel
- Raise and lower the assembly slowly.
- Tilt each display through its permitted range.
- For independent arms, move each arm while watching the other cables.
- Confirm that no cable catches, pulls a connector, or drags a monitor out of alignment.
- Reposition or add slack before normal use.
Perform a finished-installation safety check
- Every base fastener is tight and the clamp or grommet has not shifted.
- Every VESA plate is fully seated and its retaining lock is engaged.
- No monitor exceeds the model’s per-screen weight or size limit.
- The desk is not cracking, bowing, lifting, or sliding under the load.
- The screens remain stable at their normal height and at the edges of their permitted movement.
- Cables have enough slack and cannot snag moving hardware.
- The arm and monitors remain inside the desk’s safe footprint.
The CM03U manual specifically warns not to swing the screens beyond the rear edge of the desk because the shifted load can tip the desk. Treat that as a general placement warning: a monitor arm transfers leverage to the desk, so maximum reach is not automatically a safe operating position.

| Consideration | Shared crossbar | Independent arms |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | All three screens rise and fall together; spacing can be adjusted along the bar. | Each display can be raised, lowered, tilted, or swiveled separately. |
| Example in the manuals | HDWR SolidHand-CM03U | HDWR SolidHand-SG03 |
| Per-monitor capacity | 17–27 inches and up to 6 kg per screen for the CM03U. | 13–27 inches and 2–8 kg per screen for the SG03. |
| VESA support in the examples | 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm. | 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm. |
| Best fit | A symmetrical workstation where the three panels should move as one unit. | A workstation where screens have different heights, orientations, or viewing distances. |
| Trade-off | One adjustment affects the whole group, and the crossbar’s leverage must be kept over the desk. | More positioning freedom, but each spring and lock must be balanced and checked separately. |
The table compares only the two named examples. Other triple-monitor arms may use a fixed bar, three gas springs, or a hybrid arrangement; use the product’s own limits and installation sequence.

Troubleshoot common installation problems
A monitor droops after adjustment
Verify that the monitor is within the arm’s individual weight rating and that the VESA plate is fully locked. Then follow the model’s tension procedure with the arm supported. On the CM03U, a dropping crossbar calls for adjustment toward plus. If the adjustment reaches its limit, the screen may be outside the supported load range or the mechanism may be damaged.
A monitor rises instead of staying level
Reduce tension according to the manual; the CM03U calls for turning toward minus when the crossbar rises. Make small changes and retest horizontally before repositioning the screen.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe plate will not sit flush
Check for an incorrect VESA pattern, a screw that is too long, a missing spacer, or a curved/recessed back. Remove the plate and test the screws by hand. Never close a gap by overtightening.
The arm wobbles at the desk
Inspect the clamp or grommet contact surfaces, confirm that the correct bracket position is used, and retighten the base hardware. If the desktop flexes or the clamp bears on a weak edge, move the mount or use a mounting method approved for that desk. Do not compensate for a structural problem with extra force.
The screens drift out of alignment
Check that the crossbar or arm collars are tight and that each VESA lock is engaged. On a crossbar, level the bar before fine-tuning individual tilt. On independent arms, balance each spring and avoid pushing one screen against another during adjustment.
The desk starts to lift or tip
Stop moving the monitors, return them over the desk, and inspect the base. The arm may be too far beyond the rear edge, the desk may be too light or weak, or the mount may not be fully secured. Do not continue using the setup until the desk and attachment method meet the manufacturer’s requirements.

A new display can have a different weight or back depth even when its diagonal is identical. If any fastener loosens, a screen sags, or the desk surface changes shape, unload the arm and correct the cause before normal use.
