For a single Google Business Profile, start by enabling its customer-activity notifications. If you need new-review and edit events in a software workflow, Google documents a Notifications API that delivers events through Cloud Pub/Sub. For several review publishers or locations, check a review-management platform’s exact coverage and alert controls before relying on it: there is no universal alert system or guaranteed delivery time across review sites.
Choose a monitoring route that matches your profiles
| Route | Best fit | Check before relying on it |
|---|---|---|
| Site-native notifications | A business managing its own profile on one review site. | Which profile and account are covered, what events trigger alerts, who receives them, and where alerts appear. |
| Google Business Profile Notifications API with Cloud Pub/Sub | A team that manages eligible Google Business Profiles and needs events routed into its own technical workflow. | API access and terms, Pub/Sub setup, permissions, subscriber operation, supported events, and who maintains the alert pipeline. |
| Multi-publisher review-management software | A business or agency coordinating multiple publishers or locations. | Exact publisher and location coverage, review imports, edit handling, filters, alert delivery, response workflow, reporting, pricing, contract, and data access. |
These are different approaches, not a verified feature or price ranking. Google’s native alerts and API cover Google Business Profile; they are not a universal review-site monitoring service.

Start with native notifications for a Google Business Profile
Google Business Profile lets account users choose notifications. Customer-activity alerts can include new reviews and may appear through email, Search, or Maps. Review the notification settings for the account and make sure the people responsible for feedback can access the relevant alerts. See Google’s instructions for managing notifications.
Native alerts are a practical first step when you only need to follow profiles you manage. The documentation does not promise a fixed delivery time, so do not treat an alert as a guaranteed real-time service-level commitment.

Use Google’s API for new-review and updated-review events
For a technical workflow—such as routing review events to an internal queue—Google documents notifications delivered with Cloud Pub/Sub. Google describes the Notifications API as using Pub/Sub for business events; the setup guide covers creating a topic, granting the Google service account permission to publish, configuring a push or pull subscriber, and linking the topic through the account’s notification setting. Read Google’s real-time notification setup guide before implementation.
Events to select
The API reference defines NEW_REVIEW for a new review added to a location and UPDATED_REVIEW for an update to a review. Notifications identify review and location resources. The reference page reports a last-updated date of 2024-10-16 UTC; confirm the current API documentation and availability when you implement it. See Google’s Notifications reference.
Implementation checklist
- Create a Cloud Pub/Sub topic for the notifications.
- Grant
[email protected]permission to publish to that topic. - Configure and operate a push or pull subscriber that processes messages and routes them to your chosen inbox, dashboard, or queue.
- Link the topic using the Business Profile account’s notification setting and select the new-review and updated-review events your workflow needs.
- Verify the complete path with a legitimate event or an available provider test mechanism; confirm the message reaches the intended destination and that someone owns failures and retries.
Google says API use is subject to its terms and that it may review API activity. Agencies and tool providers should check the current Google Business Profile APIs policies and confirm they have authorized access. The cited documentation does not establish scraping as an approved default monitoring method.
Monitor multiple publishers or locations with a review platform
A review-management platform can bring activity from several publishers into one place, but “multi-site” does not mean every publisher, profile, region, or event is covered. Verify the specific locations and properties that matter before choosing a provider.

As one vendor-documented example, Yext says its Reviews Overview monitors reviews from publishers including Google, Facebook, Yelp, and TripAdvisor, with filtering, notifications, and trend analysis. Yext separately documents brand-level monitoring for Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Indeed, Glassdoor, and Trustpilot, and says it imports historical reviews when a publisher is first added. Questions to ask before committing
- Does it support each exact publisher, business profile, brand property, and location you need?
- Are existing reviews imported, and how are edits, deleted reviews, or filtered content represented?
- Which events generate notifications, where are they delivered, and can recipients or rules be configured?
- Can the right people respond from the platform, and what permissions does that require?
- What are the current price, contract terms, data access, and export options for your use case?
The available documentation does not establish a comparable current price or a guaranteed cross-platform alert latency. Ask providers to confirm both for your intended configuration.
Build a workflow that catches and assigns the alert
- Inventory profiles. Record the site, business or brand name, location, profile URL, and the person authorized to manage access. Separate location-based listings from app-store, employer, or other brand-level review properties.
- Turn on native alerts. For every profile you control, identify the account setting, covered event types, recipients, and delivery surfaces.
- Add an integration only where needed. Use Google’s API route when you need Google review events in a technical system; choose a multi-publisher service only after confirming exact coverage.
- Assign an owner or queue. Decide internally who handles each alert and what should be escalated. Rating thresholds and response targets are business choices, not universal standards.
- Check the full path. Confirm a legitimate event reaches the intended destination and that someone can act on it. Recheck coverage and access periodically because publisher integrations and controls can change.
Keep monitoring legitimate
Monitoring is for noticing and responding to genuine customer feedback, not manufacturing or manipulating it. Google’s policy says reviews and ratings should reflect real experience and be genuine and unbiased. Read Google’s prohibited and restricted content policy.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A screenshot can help a team capture the visible state of a review page, but it does not replace publisher notifications or a verified feed of review events. Its clean-shot options accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents.
One GET request returns an image or PDF; this example saves a WebP capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Google Business Profile notifications include edited reviews?
Google’s API reference defines an `UPDATED_REVIEW` event. Native customer-activity notifications are described as including new reviews; check the current settings and API documentation for the event coverage you need.
Can one tool guarantee alerts from every review site?
The documented options do not establish universal publisher coverage or a guaranteed cross-platform delivery time. Confirm both with each provider for your specific profiles.
