Monitor rebates through the retailer or program that issues them: sign in, check its offers or rebate section, and enable any email or push alerts it provides. Then verify the offer’s terms yourself. A notification about a new deal is different from a post-purchase claim email, and retailers do not necessarily promise to alert members when terms change.
Set up alerts without missing the offer itself
- Open the official account or offer page. Look for the retailer’s offers, coupons, or rebates section. Check the qualifying product, location, purchase or fulfillment requirements, activation steps, and expiration date before relying on an offer.
- Sign in and activate the offer if required. Some programs show offers only to signed-in members, or require you to clip or add an offer before purchase.
- Turn on the notification channels the program actually supports. Enable email or push reminders in the retailer’s app or account preferences. For push alerts, also allow notifications for the app in your phone’s operating-system settings.
- Check the email address and filters on your account. Keep the account email current and check spam or junk folders if an expected message does not arrive.
- Keep checking the official terms. Alerts can help you discover offers, but they are not a substitute for checking current eligibility and deadlines.
What retailer alerts do—and do not—tell you
Retailer systems may send different messages for new offers, promotions, or a rebate claim after a purchase. A listed offer or completed checkout does not by itself establish that a rebate has been claimed or paid. Read the message and the offer terms to determine what action remains.

Walmart: enable both app and device permissions
Walmart says marketing push notifications require the setting in the app and permission at the device level. Its email preferences page describes promotional alerts, weekly circulars, and department updates. Menu names and paths can vary by device and operating-system version, so check Walmart’s current push notification instructions and email preferences.

The offer must be added to a list or checked through the app, and eligibility depends on the offer terms and qualifying fulfillment method. Walgreens: distinguish clipping from claiming

Track the rebate from offer to claim
For each offer you intend to use, save the offer details and expiration date, then retain the purchase confirmation and any claim email until the rebate is received. If a claim is required, record its deadline and complete it through the official process. These records help you distinguish an offer you saw from a claim you submitted; they are not a guarantee of eligibility or payment.

State-administered home-efficiency programs may have their own tracking and notification processes rather than a retailer-style offers inbox. The U.S. Department of Energy’s 2024 sample application guidance describes workflows in which homeowners and building owners receive multiple notifications about rebate levels available and applied, with rebate amounts itemized on invoices. These are examples in sample guidance, not a promise that every state program has launched or uses the same alerts. Check the relevant state program’s official site and application terms.
