Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo monitor playlist changes across several 24/7 YouTube channels, save each playlist’s ID, periodically fetch every page of its items with YouTube Data API v3’s playlistItems.list, and compare the ordered results with the last complete snapshot. That reveals additions, removals, and reordering. YouTube’s documented push notifications can supplement this process for channel uploads and video title or description changes, but they do not report playlist membership or order edits.
What you need to monitor
A channel that streams around the clock may use one or more playlists, but the channel’s continuous operation does not make playlist edits instantly visible to a monitor. The dependable method is to poll each target playlist and compare snapshots. You learn about a change on the next successful poll, so the interval sets the approximate detection delay.

You need a Google Account, a Google Cloud project, credentials, and YouTube Data API v3 enabled. Google’s YouTube Data API setup and overview explains project setup and quota. Check the visibility and access available for each target playlist; public and private playlists exist, and you should not assume a monitor can read every playlist without the necessary access.
Set up a playlist monitor
1. Create a registry of target playlists
For each playlist, record its channel name, channel ID, playlist ID, purpose, and expected visibility. Use the playlist ID as the stable identifier rather than its title: a channel can have multiple playlists, and titles can change. YouTube playlist metadata includes the owning channel ID, title, description, and privacy status. See Playlists — YouTube Data API.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
2. Establish a complete baseline
Call playlistItems.list with the target playlistId and a relevant part, such as snippet or contentDetails. The endpoint returns up to 50 items per request. Save each item’s video ID and position; optionally retain titles and other item metadata so alerts are readable. The API response also provides a nextPageToken when more results are available.
Keep requesting the next page until no continuation token remains. A first-page-only snapshot is incomplete and can miss edits elsewhere in a long playlist. The PlaylistItems: list documentation describes the request parameters, response, and pagination.

3. Schedule repeat snapshots
Choose a polling interval based on how quickly you need to notice edits, how many playlists you monitor, playlist sizes, and your quota budget. A 24/7 channel does not mean YouTube exposes playlist changes instantly: the monitor sees a difference only when its next poll succeeds.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute4. Compare snapshots
Compare the old and new video IDs as sets to find additions and removals. Compare their ordered sequences or stored positions to identify reordered items. Preserve timestamps and prior snapshots; this lets an alert explain what changed and when the monitor observed it. This is an implementation pattern based on the API’s item and position data, not a built-in playlist change-history feature.

5. Send actionable alerts
Include the channel and playlist identifiers, observation time, change type, added or removed video IDs, and old and new positions for reordered entries. Link to the relevant playlist or video if useful for triage. Describe the time as when the change was observed, not as the exact time it happened: polling only establishes that the change appeared between snapshots.
6. Monitor the monitor
Track request errors, quota use, whether pagination completed, and the time of the last successful snapshot. Alert separately when monitoring becomes stale. Without that health check, an API failure can look like an unchanged playlist.

Estimate quota and choose a polling interval
Google’s YouTube Data API overview, accessed in 2026, lists a default allocation of 10,000 units per day for most methods combined; search.list and videos.insert have separate buckets. Google notes that defaults can change. Each playlistItems.list call costs one quota unit, so each additional page costs another unit. Check the current API overview and quota calculator when planning a deployment.
Estimate recurring playlist-read usage as the total number of pages across all monitored playlists per cycle multiplied by the number of cycles per day. Add setup requests, retries, and other API calls to your budget. For example, a playlist requiring three pages costs three units per complete snapshot; polling it 24 times in a day uses 72 units for those reads, before retries or other calls.

Can YouTube push notifications replace polling?
No. Google’s push notification guide describes a web-accessible callback subscription by channel ID. Notifications arrive as Atom feeds and cover channel uploads and video title or description updates. The documented events do not include playlist membership or ordering changes, so use push as a complementary signal—not as a replacement for playlist polling.
Push can avoid repeatedly checking for the specific video events it covers, but it adds a reachable callback and subscription processing. Playlist polling still requires scheduling, storage, comparison, and alert delivery.
Or let it run in the cloud
Playlist monitoring is separate from keeping a prerecorded stream live. If your goal is also to keep an uploaded video or playlist streaming on YouTube, StreamNeo runs that stream from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera-based live video. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
