Choose the official page and define what counts as a change
Use the university’s own website, not a search result, cached copy, social post, or third-party fee listing. Record the page URL and the date you set up monitoring. Decide whether you need to catch changes to amounts, eligibility wording, notices, or linked fee schedules. If the page links to a PDF or posts notices on a separate page, include those sources in your monitoring plan when the chosen tool supports them.

A visual change can be useful for spotting a revised table, newly posted notice, or changed link, but it can also reflect layout changes that do not affect fees. Text or source comparisons can help identify exactly which words or markup changed.

Use a full-page check when the page is short or relevant notices may appear in different places. This is simpler to set up, but navigation, banners, or other unrelated page changes may also trigger differences.
Monitor the fee table or notice area
If the fee content sits in a distinct, stable region, select that area to reduce noise from unrelated updates. Set up a repeatable visual check with Playwright
For a custom workflow, take a reference screenshot of the official page and compare later captures against it. Playwright’s screenshot comparison feature uses a stored reference image; keep the browser and capture environment consistent between runs. Microsoft warns that rendering can vary with the host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode (Playwright visual comparisons).
- Choose a machine or scheduled runner that can access the university page, and install Playwright with its supported browser.
- Capture the page or fee region as the initial reference image.
- Schedule the same capture in the same environment and compare each new image with the reference.
- When the comparison reports a difference, save the new version and inspect it alongside the prior capture before updating the reference.
Dynamic content can create noise. Playwright’s documentation describes styling or hiding volatile elements to make captures more repeatable (Playwright visual comparisons). Use those techniques only for irrelevant changing elements; do not hide the fee data or notices you intend to monitor. The exact commands and configuration depend on your project, runner, and page, so validate the setup on the target page rather than assuming a generic script will work unchanged.

Schedule a hosted monitor
A hosted monitor can run checks even when your computer is off. Visualping documents scheduled whole-page or selected-area checks, visual comparisons, and cloud monitoring that continues while your computer is off (Visualping area selection). Choose the official URL, a suitable check interval, the relevant area if available, and an alert destination; consult the provider’s current settings and limits when configuring it.
Hosted checks may run from a particular region. Visualping says its default check location is a United States (California) IP address and documents other location choices (Visualping check locations). Confirm that your selected location can reach the university page as intended. This is a setup consideration, not evidence that a particular Indian university page varies by location.

Review alerts and keep a useful record
- Open the current official page and compare it with the previous captured version.
- Classify the difference: changed fee amount, label or eligibility condition; a new notice; a changed document link; or irrelevant visual noise.
- Use a text view as well as the visual diff if the tool provides one, especially to confirm exact amounts and conditions.
- Record the date checked, the prior and current versions, the affected fee or notice, and the official source that supports the current information.
- Verify consequential fee details against the university’s current official notice before acting on them.

Troubleshoot missed or noisy changes
- The monitor does not reach the page: Confirm the URL works from the monitor’s check location and that the page does not require access the service cannot provide.
- Repeated alerts show unrelated differences: Narrow monitoring to a stable fee or notice region, or exclude only clearly irrelevant volatile elements from a Playwright capture.
- The screenshot differs but fee text appears unchanged: Inspect a text or source view if available, then confirm the fee details on the official page; visual changes can be presentational.
- The page seems unchanged but a fee document may have changed: Monitor the linked PDF or the page listing that document as a separate source when supported.
- A check seems to miss a change: Confirm the selected region still covers the fee content, the monitor can access the page, and the schedule and alert destination are enabled. Compare the latest capture directly with the official page.
- Playwright produces inconsistent diffs: Keep the browser, operating environment, and capture settings consistent, and account for irrelevant volatile content without hiding monitored information.
