Treat every alert as a lead: confirm the notice, amendments, eligibility, and deadline on the official procurement source before acting.
Start with the sources that publish opportunities
Tenders, RFPs, bids, grants, amendments, and deadline changes may appear on national or regional portals as well as individual agency, municipality, district, or organization websites. ChangeTower’s guide recommends collecting the URLs for procurement listings and pages labeled “Bids and RFPs” or “Current solicitations.” ChangeTower’s tender-monitoring guide describes these as candidate sources.

Make a source list based on your geography, sector, and target buyers. A page monitor follows the URLs you choose; it does not establish that every relevant government source is covered. Record the owner of each page and the types of notices it publishes so the team can identify gaps.

Use official alerts as a separate discovery layer
For suppliers in the UK, GOV.UK says the Central Digital Platform, also known as Find a Tender, lets suppliers search public contract opportunities at no cost and set alerts. Its guide describes the portal as making it easier to find and bid for public contracts: GOV.UK supplier guidance. Official portal alerts and ChangeTower page monitoring are complementary, not interchangeable: portal alerts cover the portal’s own discovery features, while ChangeTower watches selected pages and criteria.

Set up ChangeTower monitors
- Filter the listing first. On a portal with category, region, or other useful filters, select the criteria relevant to your team. Check whether the page URL changes. If it does, use the filtered URL as the monitor target so the page is focused on relevant listings.
- Add the page or pages. Create a monitor for an individual listing page, or use ChangeTower’s multi-page feature to add several URLs with common criteria. Its help guide also describes creating a monitor from the browser extension while viewing a page.
- Choose how to detect changes. Use Smart Monitor criteria for a specific event such as a new tender, RFP, bid, or extended deadline. Use keyword monitoring for relevant service terms, or general content monitoring when any meaningful page change matters.
- Set the checking schedule. Choose a frequency that fits the notice and response windows and the settings available to your account. A monitor checks on its configured schedule; do not treat it as a guaranteed real-time feed.
- Route and organize alerts. Configure email notifications and use tags or folders to group monitors by region, agency, or service line. ChangeTower’s guide also describes Slack routing and notification states for bid teams.
- Validate the monitor. Review the page and its resulting alert behavior so criteria are not too broad or too narrow. Keep the original official source URL with the monitor record for quick verification.
ChangeTower describes government and RFP monitoring for new solicitations, amendments, deadlines, awards, and recompetes, with options to focus on a selected page section and route alerts through email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or webhooks. Those are vendor-described capabilities; available options and behavior depend on the page and configuration. ChangeTower’s RFP and government bid tracking page.
Choose criteria that match the page and the decision
| Monitoring approach | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Monitor / AI criteria | You want to flag a defined event, such as a new RFP in a target service area or a deadline extension. | Check that the resulting alerts capture the wording and layout used on that particular page. |
| Keyword monitoring | The notice language reliably includes terms associated with your services, agencies, or bid types. | Misspellings, synonyms, or changed terminology may not match the terms you chose. |
| General content monitoring | You want to notice broader changes on a listing page. | Unrelated edits can create noise; use selective monitoring or narrower criteria when the page changes frequently. |
| Selective section monitoring | The page contains a distinct listing area and unrelated content you do not need to track. | It depends on the page structure remaining usable for the selected area. |
These approaches are described in ChangeTower’s support guide and product page. Selectivity can improve signal quality, but no method removes the need to check the actual procurement notice and its attachments.

Build a team workflow around verification
- When an alert arrives, open the official procurement notice rather than relying on the alert text alone.
- Check the live deadline, amendments, eligibility conditions, required documents, and submission instructions.
- Assign an owner and record the source, relevant dates, and next action in the team’s bid-tracking process.
- After a material page redesign or unexpected stream of alerts, review the monitored URL and criteria; update the filter or monitoring method if needed.
Monitoring helps surface changes on chosen pages. It does not establish that a notice is complete, that every source is covered, or that a deadline has not changed elsewhere.

Limits to plan for
- Coverage is your responsibility. Identify the portals and buyer pages relevant to your market; no evidence establishes that one monitor covers every government tender source.
- Checks follow a schedule. Set cadence according to notice urgency and available settings, but do not assume guaranteed instant detection.
- Pages can be difficult to monitor. Layout changes or sign-in requirements may affect a page. ChangeTower’s guide points to separate instructions for password-protected pages, but compatibility with any particular portal is not established here.
- Alerts need source verification. A page change is a signal, not proof that a bid is suitable or that the displayed information is current and complete.
Troubleshooting common monitoring problems
No alerts arrive
Confirm that the monitor uses the correct listing URL, the desired criteria are enabled, the checking schedule is active, and the intended notification route is configured. If the portal uses a filtered view, check whether the filtered URL still opens the intended results.
Rank #3
Too many irrelevant alerts
Narrow the page with portal filters, focus monitoring on the listings section where available, or replace broad content monitoring with more specific keywords or criteria. Recheck the page after changing the configuration.
A new listing is missed
Compare the live official page with the monitored URL and the configured schedule. Check whether the portal moved the listing, changed the filter URL, or altered the page layout; then update the target or detection criteria as needed.
The page requires sign-in or has changed layout
Confirm whether the page remains accessible to the monitor and consult ChangeTower’s password-protected-page guidance. The available evidence does not establish compatibility with every authenticated portal, so verify the specific page rather than assuming it will work.

If you also need a clean screenshot of an official notice page for a review record or team handoff, ScreenshotNeo can return an image or PDF from one GET request. Its cleanup can accept cookie-consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents.
