Use a webpage change monitor on your insurer’s official product page and, where possible, on the linked policy wording PDF. Save dated copies of the existing page and policy document, then review each alert against the insurer’s current documents. An alert means monitored content appears to have changed; it does not establish that your contract has changed or that new wording applies to your policy.
Set up a reliable monitor
- Find the official product page. Confirm it is for your insurer and the exact product and policy type. Note the URL and find linked policy wording, a customer information sheet, or other relevant documents.
- Save a baseline. Keep a dated copy of the relevant webpage and the current policy document. Record any displayed version number or date. These are practical record-keeping steps; the cited sources do not establish a universal retention period for this purpose.
- Monitor the most relevant content. Add the official page to a change-monitoring service. If it allows selection, track the policy details, document link, or product-information area rather than the entire page. Whole-page monitoring may alert on navigation, promotions, or layout changes unrelated to policy terms.
- Add the linked document if supported. A changed PDF or document URL may matter even if the page around it looks the same. Check whether the monitor supports PDF monitoring and whether it tracks the document content or only the link.
- Choose how checks run and how you are notified. Select a schedule and notification channel appropriate to the importance of the information. Check the vendor’s current plan limits and settings; features and limits can change.
- Review alerts against the source. Open the insurer’s official page and current linked document, inspect the highlighted or text difference, compare document dates or versions, and save the new copy.
- Ask the insurer about consequential changes. If a difference could affect coverage, exclusions, premium, eligibility, renewal, or a claim, ask whether it applies to your own policy and keep the response with your records.
Choose a monitoring approach
Two services document the basic choices involved. The descriptions below are based on their published help pages, not independent testing of either service on a particular Indian insurer’s website.

| Visualping | Its help article, edited August 10, 2026, describes scheduled checks, full-page or selected-area monitoring, comparisons, and alerts. It documents cloud monitoring that continues when your computer is off and local monitoring that requires Chrome to remain open. | Confirm current check frequency, plan limits, notification options, and whether the specific policy PDF can be monitored. |
| Distill | Its documentation describes local monitoring through a browser extension or desktop app, cloud monitoring through its web app, webpage and PDF monitoring, and notification options. Its Chrome extension guide describes selecting a full page or part of a page. | Confirm current plan limits, check frequency, notification options, and whether the relevant document and page elements are supported. |
Local or cloud checks?
A local monitor depends on your device and the relevant app or browser being available; a cloud monitor runs on the service provider’s servers. This distinction affects whether checks continue while your computer is off. Verify how a vendor currently implements each mode before relying on it.
What makes an alert useful?
- It identifies the changed page area or document and offers a usable before-and-after comparison.
- It can monitor the specific content you care about, rather than producing noise from unrelated page elements.
- Its schedule and notification method fit how quickly you need to review changes.
- It supports the actual page or linked PDF, not just a URL that may point to a document.
What an alert can—and cannot—tell you
A monitor detects changes in the content it checks. It cannot determine whether a difference changes your insurance contract, whether a revised document applies to an existing policy, or whether you have a particular entitlement. Pages can change for reasons such as a new layout or an updated link; inspect the wording itself and ask the insurer when the effect is important.

IRDAI’s Insurance Repository information describes electronic access to policy information and policy bonds. Its FAQ says an e-Insurance account can show policy-level details such as status, commencement, maturity or expiry, nomination, assignment, endorsement, address, and terms and conditions; policyholders can download a policy bond and make servicing requests through the repository or directly to the insurer. See IRDAI Insurance Repositories and the FAQ on Insurance Repository.
For motor insurance specifically, IRDAI says policy changes are made by an endorsement through the insurance office. Do not generalize that page’s wording to every type of insurance: consult your own policy documents and ask the insurer about the effect on your policy. See IRDAI Motor Insurance – Policy Holder.

ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A screenshot can help preserve a visual record of a public policy page, but it is not a change-monitoring alert system: you still need to schedule captures and compare them. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For a basic screenshot, use cURL:

Troubleshooting alerts and missed changes
- Too many alerts: Narrow the monitored area to policy details or the document link if the service supports selection; exclude navigation, promotions, and other frequently changing regions.
- No alert after you expect a change: Check that the monitor is enabled, that its schedule has run, and that a local monitor’s browser or app was available. Confirm that the monitored URL still points to the current page or document.
- The page alerts but the policy appears unchanged: Compare the actual text and linked document, not just the alert title or visual difference. The change may be layout, navigation, or other unrelated content.
- The PDF is not being tracked: Verify PDF support and whether the monitor checks document contents. If it does not, monitor the official page and inspect the linked document yourself when alerted.
- The insurer’s page and your policy records differ: Do not assume the public page controls your individual policy. Check your policy bond and endorsements, then ask the insurer to confirm which wording applies.
