How to Monitor a Website with ChangeTower

To monitor a website with ChangeTower, create a monitor for the exact page you care about, choose what counts as a change, set a check interval and alert destination, then save it. ChangeTower takes an initial snapshot as the baseline; you should not expect an alert until a later check finds a matching change.

Choose the right page and change to watch

Start with the URL where the consequential information appears, not automatically the homepage. ChangeTower’s setup guide recommends monitoring the specific page of interest. For your own site, that may be a pricing page, product page, privacy or disclosure page, checkout, contact page, or support page. For partner oversight, relevant pages can include product, rate, fee, dealer, broker, or affiliate pages.

Choose a detection mode to fit the event:

  • Broad content monitoring: use it when any meaningful page-content change matters.
  • Keyword monitoring: watch for a particular term appearing or disappearing.
  • Selective monitoring: focus on a page section and ignore surrounding material such as rotating banners or ads.
  • Smart Monitor: describe the condition you care about in plain language. ChangeTower’s guide says it can optionally use a selected page area or manual user actions, and detected changes appear in Notifications with an explanation of why the AI considered the condition met.

These are capabilities described by ChangeTower; they are not an independent guarantee that every relevant change on every site will be detected.

Create and configure a ChangeTower monitor

  1. Start a new monitor in ChangeTower.
  2. Choose a setup route. Use Smart Monitor for a natural-language condition, enter one URL for a single page, use bulk setup for several URLs, or choose whole-website scanning if it is available on your plan.
  3. Enter the full URL of the page to monitor. Check that it is the specific page whose changes matter.
  4. Set the change criterion. Select broad content, keyword, selective-section, or Smart Monitor criteria as appropriate.
  5. Set frequency and notifications. Choose a check interval suitable for the consequences of a missed change, then configure the available alert destination and other monitor details.
  6. Save the monitor. Its first check creates a starting snapshot. After that, notifications depend on a later check finding a change that matches the criterion.

For Smart Monitor, the documented flow is to enter the URL, describe the criterion, optionally select a page area or configure manual user actions, and then set monitor details such as frequency and email alerts. Review the explanation shown with a notification to understand why ChangeTower flagged a change.

Choose a plan by capacity, speed, and history

ChangeTower’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists the following capacities and shortest intervals. Prices below are the monthly amounts displayed on that page; commercial terms can change, so confirm the live page before subscribing.

Plan Monitored pages Shortest listed check interval Snapshot history Monthly displayed price
Free 3 Daily 30 days Free
Lite 25 Daily 30 days $12/month
Essential 100 Hourly 60 days $36/month
Business 200 Every 20 minutes Six months $78/month
Enterprise Custom Custom Not stated on the pricing page Custom

The pricing page also lists a five-day free trial for paid plans and 20% savings with yearly billing. Each URL counts once against the page limit, even when you apply multiple criteria to that URL. Enterprise capabilities listed include domain scanning, full-page archiving, multi-region monitoring, multi-workspace setup, and SAML.

When deciding, compare the number of URLs you need, how quickly you need to know about a change, how long you need snapshots retained, and whether your team needs particular alert routing, workspaces, review records, or access controls. ChangeTower lists email notifications across tiers; its pricing matrix lists Slack, webhooks, and MCP for AI assistants on Business and Enterprise. Microsoft Teams is mentioned on its features page, but availability should be checked in the live service before relying on it.

Keep monitoring useful and manageable

  • Prioritize pages by consequence. Pricing, rates, fees, disclosures, and checkout information may deserve closer attention than frequently changing promotional material.
  • Match interval to urgency. A daily check may suit a page whose change can wait; a time-sensitive page may call for a faster interval if your plan supports it.
  • Use selective criteria where noise is likely. Focusing on the relevant section or keyword can avoid alerts for surrounding page changes that do not matter to you.
  • Remember the baseline. The initial snapshot is the reference point; a newly created monitor does not itself mean that a change alert should arrive immediately.
  • Review alert explanations and snapshots. Use the recorded change information to decide whether an alert is actionable and whether the selected criterion needs adjustment.

ChangeTower’s published examples of public-page monitoring include competitor announcements, price changes, availability, news, compliance pages, jobs, and property listings. These are use cases described in its help material, not independent evidence of detection performance.

Troubleshooting common setup problems

No alert arrived after creating the monitor

The first check establishes the baseline, so a quiet inbox is expected until a later check detects a matching change. Confirm the monitor is saved, the URL is correct, the criterion matches the kind of change you expect, and the selected frequency allows a check to occur.

Too many irrelevant alerts

Switch from broad content monitoring to a keyword, selected page area, or Smart Monitor criterion that better describes the change you need. If banners or ads are changing around the relevant content, selective monitoring may help ignore that surrounding material.

A change you expected was not reported

Check that the monitored URL is the exact page, that the changed material falls within the selected area or criterion, and that a subsequent scheduled check has occurred. The available documentation does not establish an independent accuracy rate or promise that every change on every site will be found; avoid treating a monitor as a guarantee.

You have run out of page capacity or need faster checks

Compare the number of distinct URLs with your plan’s page limit and check interval. Remember that multiple criteria on one URL still count as one page. A higher-capacity or faster-check plan may be needed for additional URLs or shorter intervals.

If your goal is to capture a page rather than track changes over time, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its API can accept consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, with response headers identifying the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools for screenshots and PDF capture.

For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of the target URL; replace the URL and API key with your own values. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
