How to Monitor a Password-Protected Page with Fluxguard

To monitor a page behind a login with Fluxguard, add the login page to a session, configure the sign-in steps, and verify that a new crawl captures the authenticated page. A standard login form and a browser-style basic-auth prompt use different settings. Only monitor sites you own or have permission to access; Fluxguard states that restriction in its password-protected pages tutorial.

Set up a standard login form

  1. Add the login URL. Enter the page where the site asks for a username and password, then run an initial crawl. The first capture lets you inspect the form and identify its fields and controls.
  2. Configure the form actions. Set an action to enter the username, another to enter the password, and an action to submit the form. The exact fields and button depend on the site.
  3. Allow the page to finish loading. If the form takes time to authenticate or redirect, increase the wait before capture. Fluxguard’s tutorial gives 6,000 milliseconds as an example, not a universal recommended delay.
  4. Run another crawl and inspect the capture. Confirm that the thumbnail or screenshot shows the page after login. If it still shows the login screen, an error, or incomplete content, troubleshoot the flow before relying on monitoring alerts.

Fluxguard’s setup tutorials also cover clicks, selections, and JavaScript actions. Add only the interactions needed to reach the specific page state you want monitored, then validate the capture again.

Configure browser-style basic authentication

A basic-auth prompt is not the same as a username-and-password form embedded in a web page. For a browser-style prompt, open Session Settings, go to the Crawl tab, and enter the authentication details there, following Fluxguard’s instructions. If the site presents an ordinary form, use the form-action setup instead.

Monitor more than one page in the authenticated session

After login, add the pages you want to track to the same session. Fluxguard says the session preserves cookies, local storage, and more across pages, so later pages can use the authenticated state. In the documented sequence, adding the login page again can also let you capture both the login page and the content shown after authentication. Crawl and check the resulting captures to confirm the session reaches the intended pages.

Troubleshoot captures that do not show the gated content

  • The capture is still the login page: Check that the username and password actions target the correct fields and that the submit action targets the right control. Then crawl again.
  • The capture shows an error or incomplete page: Confirm the authentication flow succeeds in a normal browser and that the configured actions reproduce the necessary steps. For slow redirects or page loads, adjust the wait and verify with another crawl.
  • It works on one page but not the next: Keep the post-login URLs in the same session and check that the first page has established the required authenticated state before the later pages are captured.
  • The page requires more than a login: Configure the relevant clicks, selections, form submissions, or JavaScript actions described in Fluxguard’s form-results tutorial. The sequence is site-specific; confirm the final screenshot shows the exact content you intend to monitor.
  • You are unsure whether the login method is basic auth: Use the basic-auth settings only when the browser presents that kind of prompt. Fluxguard’s tutorial notes that users who do not recognize the method can generally ignore that section.

Check plan and crawl-usage fit

Fluxguard’s pricing page currently lists Standard (Periscope) at $110 per month and includes Form Submission Tracking for monitoring changes behind logins and gated content. The page also lists a seven-day free trial for paid plans. Its site-count estimates assume about ten pages per site crawled once daily, and Fluxguard cautions that actual credit use varies. Check the current pricing and plan details before choosing, since plan names, prices, features, and trial terms can change.

Fluxguard’s FAQ says each crawled page deducts one credit; optional AI summaries, translation, and enhanced proxy use additional credits. Estimate your own monitored page count, crawl frequency, and optional features rather than treating the displayed site estimates as a guaranteed allowance.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A single GET request can return an image or PDF, but it captures a URL; it does not configure Fluxguard’s recurring authenticated change-monitoring session. See ScreenshotNeo and its API documentation for details.

For a publicly accessible page, this cURL example saves a WebP screenshot:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server includes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
