To get alerts when an agency posts or changes a notice, create a Distill.io monitor for the page that lists notices, select that section if possible, then set a schedule and notification action. Check the first recorded changes and monitor log: government pages differ, and some may block Distill’s cloud checks or load content in ways that require local monitoring.
Set up a notice monitor
- Add the page. Open Distill’s web app, add a Web Page monitor, and enter the URL of the agency page where notices appear.
- Select the relevant content. Choose Monitor Parts of Page and select the notice listing if it is available. This can reduce alerts caused by unrelated changes elsewhere on the page. Choose Full Page if the relevant content cannot be selected reliably, then review the changes closely.
- Set a schedule and notification action. Configure these in the monitor’s options. Distill documents email, SMS, push notifications, and integrations, but the choices available can depend on monitor type and account plan. Check the options shown for your monitor rather than assuming a particular channel is available.
- Choose where checks run. A cloud monitor checks from Distill’s servers and can keep running while your computer is off. A local monitor checks through your browser or computer, so that device must be available for checks to run.
- Save and validate. Review the first checks and change history. Confirm the selected area includes the notice title, date, and link where those appear, and that ordinary page changes are not triggering unwanted alerts.
Choose local or cloud monitoring
The right mode depends on whether the page is accessible to Distill’s cloud and whether checks need to continue while your device is off. Some websites block requests from cloud servers; location or access differences can also make a local check more suitable. If checks fail, inspect the monitor log and try local monitoring rather than treating a missing alert as proof that the agency posted nothing.

Distill’s current comparison documentation lists a 2-minute minimum for cloud checks on the Flexi plan and a 5-second minimum for local checks. These are service limits, not a prediction of when an agency publishes notices; plan names and entitlements can change, so verify the current options in your account before choosing a schedule.
Reduce missed notices and noisy alerts
Check the selected area
Make sure the monitored region includes the information needed to recognize a notice. If the page changes but the notice list is outside the selected region, the monitor may not detect the update you care about. Reviewing the change history helps catch a selection that is too narrow or too broad.

Account for delayed content
If the notice list appears after the rest of the page loads, adjust the page-wait setting. Exclude volatile elements such as counters or timestamps when they are not part of the notice itself; otherwise, routine updates can create noise.
Use conditions cautiously
Conditions filter changes after Distill detects them. For example, a condition can alert only when added text contains a keyword. A narrow keyword rule may miss a notice that uses different wording, so test the condition against actual changes before relying on it.

Check whether the specific agency publishes a genuine RSS feed for notices. Feed monitoring can be an alternative if one exists, but there is no basis to assume that an unspecified government website provides a feed.

No. Validate the selected content and any conditions against actual page changes, and review the history and log to confirm the monitor is detecting the content you need.
