These checks complement each other; watching the stream does not show creator-side diagnostics. Treat a phone as a useful spot-check device, not as a guaranteed unattended 24/7 watchdog.
Choose the right kind of check

A watch page that opens is not, by itself, proof that playback continues properly. Conversely, creator-side health information does not replace checking the actual watch page.

Check playback in the YouTube app
- Open the stream’s watch page in the YouTube app on Android. Find a live stream through the app or open its link. YouTube’s viewer guidance for live streams covers finding and watching live content.
- Watch long enough to confirm the picture is moving and listen for audible sound. If the stream is meant to have no audio, verify that its intended presentation is playing rather than assuming silence means a fault.
- If playback stalls or stops, reload the watch page and check again. If the problem remains, use creator-side diagnostics if you have access, or report the playback issue to the channel operator.
YouTube advises creators to check that a stream is accessible on channel and watch pages, check it on mobile, and monitor audio and video quality. That is a sensible quality-check pattern, not a promise of unattended phone monitoring.
Check stream status and audience activity as the creator
YouTube Studio mobile metrics
YouTube’s mobile streaming metrics guidance describes stream status, concurrent viewers, duration, live-chat messages, and likes. Stream status refers to the health of the stream being sent from the mobile device; YouTube says it can show specific errors with instructions. The same guidance covers video-level and channel-level analytics in the YouTube Studio app.

The mobile-streaming metrics documentation describes streams sent from a phone. If your 24/7 broadcast is being sent by an encoder or another service, do not assume the Studio app will show exactly the same status details as it would for a mobile broadcast.
Live Control Room
YouTube’s Live Control Room guidance describes stream health and analytics while a broadcast is running. Its listed metrics include concurrent and peak concurrent viewers, duration, chat rate, views, average view duration, reactions, and reminders set. Channel-level figures can include average and peak concurrent viewers and hours streamed. The metrics shown depend on whether the stream uses a phone or an encoder.

YouTube frames its fuller Live Control Room dashboard guidance for computer use. The reviewed Android guidance does not establish a universal, reliable mobile-browser workflow for the complete dashboard, especially for uninterrupted 24/7 monitoring. If a browser view is available to your account, check its actual behavior rather than relying on it as your only monitor.

- Open the creator dashboard available to your account and note the exact error wording and timestamp.
- Follow the corrective instructions shown with the error, then check the viewer-facing watch page again for picture and sound.
- Use the severity as a clue, not a diagnosis by itself. YouTube’s live-stream error guidance says red errors are critical and may prevent an event from starting or cause viewer problems; yellow errors are moderate and may degrade quality.
YouTube explains that “The Live Dashboard and Live Control Room checks for errors in the stream you’re sending to YouTube.” Those checks help diagnose the feed being sent to YouTube; they are not an independent service guaranteeing that a stream stays online.

Use reminders only for scheduled streams
If a stream is scheduled, viewers can use YouTube’s “Notify me” feature to get a start reminder, as described in its Android live-stream viewing guidance. A scheduled-start reminder is not a fault alert for a stream that is already running.
What 24/7 phone monitoring can—and cannot—promise
YouTube documents ways to watch a live stream and inspect creator-side health or metrics, but the cited guidance does not promise that Android playback will continue unattended all night, that phone alerts will reliably wake you for every fault, or that the full Live Control Room dashboard works continuously in an Android browser. For ongoing operations, use the phone for spot checks and arrange another responsible monitor or a suitable computer-based creator dashboard when needed. Verify the exact app, browser, account access, network, power, and alert behavior in your own setup.

Android requirements are for broadcasting, not watching
YouTube’s Android mobile-streaming requirements concern starting a broadcast from the phone. They list at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, live streaming enabled (which may take up to 24 hours initially), and Android 8.0 or newer. These are not requirements for an ordinary viewer to watch or spot-check an existing stream. The reviewed YouTube pages do not describe a separate India-only procedure for monitoring one.
