You can use Jev to assess each incoming chat message and Composio to connect that decision step to an application, then apply separate moderation actions on Discord and Twitch. The key is to treat the model’s output as an input to your policy—not as a moderator with platform permissions—and keep human review for uncertain or context-dependent cases.
How the moderation flow works
The shared component is a decision function: receive a message, send its text to Jev with a typed question, interpret the structured result in your application, and choose an action. Composio is used in the tutorial to execute the Jev call and manage the connection. Jev does not hold your Discord or Twitch moderator permissions and does not delete messages by itself.

- Receive: Capture a message through the platform’s event mechanism.
- Assess: Pass the message text to Jev and ask a moderation question.
- Apply policy: Use the returned decision or probability to keep, queue, or remove the message.
- Act: Call the relevant platform API or bot action, with the required permissions.
Jev question styles
- Noul: Answers a truth-like question with a probability from 0 to 1, such as whether a message is hostile.
- Choice: Selects among options and returns probabilities. The tutorial’s example categories include insult, harassment, spam, and fine.
- Score: Places an item on an ordered scale.
For a real policy, make the question and categories reflect your community rules. A label such as “hostile” still needs context: a message may quote abuse to report it, use in-group language, or refer to an earlier exchange the model cannot see.

Choose a decision policy before enabling deletion
The tutorial demonstrates a probability-based policy with a delete threshold of 0.8 and a review threshold of 0.5. Those are author-selected example values, not Jev defaults or validated universal cutoffs.

Calibrate thresholds against your rules and the consequences of mistakes. A false positive can silence an acceptable message; a false negative can leave harmful content visible. Start with review or logging rather than automatic removal, inspect decisions in a private test channel, and change thresholds only after examining representative cases. Keep moderators available even after automation is enabled.
Discord and Twitch use different event and action paths
The same Jev decision function can sit between two platform-specific integrations. Receiving messages, authorizing the bot or app, and removing a message are not shared across the platforms.

Discord: read message content and authorize deletion
The tutorial uses a discord.js client and identifies Message Content Intent as necessary to receive message text. Configure the intent in the Discord developer settings and in the client, then grant the bot the permissions it needs to read and manage messages in the target channel. Without the right intent or permissions, the bot may not receive usable message content or may fail when it tries to delete a message.

Twitch: subscribe to chat events and call moderation functionality
The demonstrated Twitch path uses EventSub over WebSocket rather than repeatedly polling for new messages. The sample waits for the WebSocket welcome message, then subscribes to the chat event using the session ID supplied in that message. When policy calls for removal, the application invokes Twitch Helix moderation functionality. The WebSocket event flow and the moderation API call are separate stages, so handle connection state and action errors independently.

Set up and test the example
The tutorial describes a Node.js 22 example using plain .mjs files, Jev through Composio, discord.js, Twitch EventSub, and Twitch Helix. Its setup includes a Composio API key and user ID, connecting the Jev toolkit with a TypeSafe key, and configuring the platform credentials.
- Prepare credentials: Configure the Composio API key and user ID, the Jev toolkit connection and TypeSafe key, and the credentials required for each platform. Keep secrets out of source control and logs.
- Configure Discord: Enable Message Content Intent and give the bot the channel and message permissions required for reading and deletion.
- Configure Twitch: Establish the EventSub WebSocket connection, wait for its welcome message, and subscribe to chat events using the supplied session ID. Ensure the app is authorized for the moderation action it will perform.
- Run the preflight check: The project repository includes a preflight check; use it to catch missing configuration before connecting to an active community.
- Test without risking live messages: Use a private channel and the repository’s test flooder to exercise message handling, decision routing, and action behavior. A flooder demonstrates the flow; it does not establish moderation accuracy.
- Enable limited automation only after review: Start with a human queue or tightly scoped test, examine false positives and missed cases, and expand only when the policy and failure handling are acceptable.
Plan for failures, reconnects, and sensitive logs
A live moderation workflow can fail at more than the model call: a chat event may be missed, a service request may time out, a platform connection may drop, or a deletion request may be rejected. Decide what the application should do when it cannot assess a message. For a community where missed content is risky, route it to a moderator; where automatic removal is riskier, avoid deleting on an incomplete or failed decision.

- Action errors: Record whether the assessment succeeded and whether the platform action succeeded. A positive moderation decision is not proof that deletion occurred.
- Human review: Provide a queue for ambiguous decisions and a way for moderators to see enough surrounding context to make a fair call.
- Auditability: Log the decision, policy version, and action outcome in a controlled way so moderators can investigate errors.
- Chat privacy: The example reports message text to standard output. Treat those logs as chat data, limit access and retention, and avoid recording more than operations require.
The project is presented as a demonstration, not evidence of production accuracy or a substitute for human moderation. The available materials do not establish a false-positive or false-negative rate, an independent benchmark, or long-duration operational reliability. Treat automated removal as a decision with operational risk, not a feature proven safe by a sample run.
What the tutorial’s cost estimates do—and do not—show
The September 2026 Composio tutorial author states an estimate of $0.042 per million input tokens and estimates less than $0.02 for 1,000 messages at roughly 400 input tokens per message. These are tutorial estimates, not an independently verified current price or measured bill. Actual cost depends on message length, question payload, model pricing, retries, and current provider terms; check current pricing before budgeting.
