You can mirror a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet to a Fire TV when both devices support Miracast and the Fire TV offers its Display Mirroring setting. Check the Fire TV first: open Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring. If that option is available, open Smart View on the Galaxy device, select the Fire TV, and approve any prompts. If the setting is missing, that Fire TV cannot use this mirroring method.
How to connect a Samsung phone to a Fire TV Stick
Amazon’s Fire TV mirroring instructions use Miracast, and a Galaxy device must support Smart View/Miracast. The steps below combine Amazon’s receiver setup with Samsung’s Smart View workflow. Samsung’s setup guidance demonstrates mirroring to compatible TVs, rather than validating every Galaxy-to-Fire-TV pairing, so success depends on the specific models.

- Check the Fire TV: On the Fire TV, go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring. Leave the mirroring screen open. If the menu option is absent, the device does not support this method. See Amazon’s Fire TV mirroring instructions.
- Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network. Keep them within 30 ft (10 m), Amazon’s recommended maximum distance for troubleshooting mirroring.
- Open Smart View on the Galaxy: Swipe down to open Quick Settings, then tap Smart View. If it is not visible, edit Quick Settings and add it. Samsung’s Smart View setup guide explains the feature; labels can vary by device and software version.
- Select the Fire TV if it appears in the available-device list. Approve the connection on the TV or phone, or enter a PIN if prompted.
- Stop mirroring by pressing a button on the Fire TV remote, which exits the Display Mirroring screen and ends the connection.
Why isn’t my Samsung finding the Fire TV?
The Fire TV may not support this method
Look for Enable Display Mirroring under Settings > Display & Sounds. Amazon says that if the option is not present, the Fire TV model is not compatible with its Miracast mirroring method. Model specifications differ, and Amazon does not provide a complete phone-to-Fire-TV compatibility matrix. Check the setting on the device you own before choosing a device for this feature. Make sure the Galaxy and Fire TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Amazon recommends keeping them within 30 ft (10 m) when troubleshooting. A stable connection matters; a weak or interrupted network can prevent discovery or disrupt mirroring.

Approve the connection request
If the Fire TV appears but the connection does not complete, check the TV screen for a permission prompt. Some Smart View connections also request permission or a PIN.
Restart, then check for updates
If the devices meet the compatibility and network requirements but the connection is unreliable, restart both devices and make sure their software is current. Samsung’s Smart View troubleshooting guidance recommends these steps. Device menus and screens vary by model and software version.

Why is the mirrored screen black or unavailable?
Some video cannot be mirrored because of digital rights management (DRM). Samsung US states that DRM-protected content cannot be mirrored through Smart View. If the content is from a streaming service, try opening that service’s app directly on Fire TV if it offers one and the content is available there. This plays the content on the Fire TV; it is not full-screen phone mirroring. Samsung’s Smart View support page describes this limitation.

Samsung provides an aspect-ratio control for Smart View. Use it to adjust how the phone image fits the display; the setting’s name and location can differ across software versions. Samsung’s Smart View troubleshooting instructions cover this control.

Should you mirror the phone or use a Fire TV app?

Choose mirroring when you need the phone’s broader screen on the TV and both devices support it. Choose a native app for supported streaming content when available.

- Confirm that Enable Display Mirroring appears on the Fire TV.
- Check that the Galaxy model supports Smart View/Miracast.
- Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network and keep them within Amazon’s recommended 30 ft (10 m).
- Accept permission requests, then restart both devices and check for software updates if needed.
A factory reset is not a routine first step for a mirroring problem. Samsung lists it only as a late-stage troubleshooting option and warns that it erases data. Try the compatibility, network, prompt, restart, and update checks first.
