You can move a 24/7 YouTube workflow from Castr to Gyre by preparing Gyre’s uploaded-video playlist and YouTube connection, then scheduling a controlled cutover. Do not assume the live broadcast, watch page, or audience playback will transfer seamlessly: the available service documentation does not promise a Castr-to-Gyre takeover with the same active YouTube event or zero interruption.
What changes when you move from Castr to Gyre?
The first decision is whether Gyre’s content model fits the stream you currently run. Castr describes forwarding a live source: when that source stays live, Castr relays it, subject to an active subscription and adequate streaming bandwidth. Its help center says, “Castr delivers the same data we receive from your end, so if your video source is live 24/7, rest assured that your stream is live all the time” (Castr Help Center, published December 1, 2022).

Gyre’s documented 24/7 workflow instead centers on uploading prerecorded videos, building a playlist, connecting YouTube, and running that playlist continuously (Gyre; Gyre Help Center). That is a change in how the program is supplied, not simply a switch of relay providers. If Castr is forwarding a camera, encoder, or other live feed, establish how that material would become suitable uploaded video before choosing Gyre.
The guides reviewed do not explain whether Gyre can take over an already-live Castr broadcast while preserving its existing YouTube watch page. They also do not guarantee an interruption-free handoff. Plan this as a new broadcast event and allow for a break in playback.

Before you switch: prepare the destination
1. Document the current source and YouTube setup
Write down what Castr receives, how it is produced, and which YouTube channel and broadcast settings are in use. Castr documents connecting YouTube through its API or server/key configuration (Castr Help Center). Treat the existing Castr configuration as separate from Gyre: do not assume its source, credentials, or settings automatically become a Gyre playlist or connection.
2. Prepare the videos and playlist in Gyre
Upload the prerecorded files intended for the new schedule, arrange them in the desired order, and check that the playlist represents the programming you want viewers to see. Gyre’s help center lists separate guides for manual setup, YouTube channel authorization, scheduling, and video preparation (Gyre Help Center). Follow the instructions for the setup method available in your account; exact controls may vary by workflow.

3. Choose and verify the YouTube connection
Gyre documents channel authorization through the YouTube API and also describes selecting an existing stream key or creating a new one (Gyre, October 3, 2026). Use the connection method offered for your account and confirm that it is connected to the intended channel.
A YouTube stream key is a credential used by the application or encoder sending a feed. YouTube instructs creators to enter the stream URL and key in that sending application (YouTube Help). Keep the key private. If you reset it, update the application or service that sends the feed; an old key will not send to the new configuration.

4. Review the broadcast details
Before scheduling, check the title, description, privacy, and intended broadcast settings in YouTube Studio or the applicable Gyre authorization flow. YouTube’s live-stream settings can be reused for a new stream, including metadata, settings, and the key (YouTube Help). Reusing those settings creates or configures a new stream; it is not evidence that the old live broadcast or watch page will continue.
Cut over in a controlled window
- Choose a handoff time. Pick a period when a brief interruption is acceptable. If viewers depend on uninterrupted playback, tell them a service change is planned and do not promise that the same watch page will remain active.
- Start the prepared Gyre workflow. Use Gyre’s documented upload, playlist, YouTube-connection, and scheduling process. Check the service status and YouTube preview before considering the new feed ready.
- Verify what viewers can see. Confirm the broadcast is live on the intended channel and that the title, privacy, and other visible details are correct. Check the actual viewer-facing page rather than assuming that a successful service connection means the audience is watching the right event.
- Stop or retire the Castr feed only after checking the destination. The reviewed guides do not describe a cross-service live takeover. Keep the cutover deliberate and be ready for viewers to need the new broadcast page.
- Check the result after launch. Confirm that the playlist continues as intended, then inspect the YouTube broadcast and channel for the final live and archive state.
Monetization, archives, and operational limits
Check monetization for API-created broadcasts
Gyre says the YouTube third-party-tools default must be enabled for API-created broadcasts to start with monetization active (Gyre, October 3, 2026). Check the channel’s current setting and the broadcast’s monetization state rather than assuming monetization carries over from Castr or activates automatically.

Do not assume a 24/7 stream will archive like a shorter one
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived (YouTube Help; page accessed October 3, 2026). That statement does not establish the archive outcome for a continuous 24/7 broadcast. Check the channel’s actual archive behavior and plan any recording or archive needs separately.
Limits that matter only for multiple simultaneous streams
Gyre’s October 3, 2026 update reports YouTube limits of 10 active streams per channel and three broadcasts per stream key. These are limits relayed by Gyre, not independently verified here against a YouTube source; they matter if you are scaling to multiple concurrent broadcasts, not for a single-stream migration.

Common migration problems and fixes
- The new stream does not start: confirm the Gyre workflow is connected to the intended YouTube channel, the playlist is prepared, and the selected key or API authorization is current. If a key was reset, update the sending configuration that uses it.
- The stream appears on an unexpected page or with incorrect details: inspect the broadcast selected in YouTube Studio and recheck its title, privacy, and settings. Reusing settings does not preserve the prior live event.
- Viewers see a gap or need a different link: this is consistent with the documented uncertainty around cross-service handoff. The reviewed sources provide no guarantee of same-page continuity or zero downtime.
- Monetization is not active: check the YouTube third-party-tools default for API-created broadcasts and verify the broadcast’s current monetization state.
- No archive appears for the continuous stream: YouTube’s cited automatic-archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours, so verify what happened to the 24/7 broadcast rather than assuming it will be archived.
