You can measure blood pressure with a compatible Galaxy Watch using Samsung Health Monitor, but the watch is not a standalone cuff replacement: setup requires a separate upper-arm blood pressure monitor to calibrate it. After three cuff readings, the watch can take interim readings; Samsung says to recalibrate every 28 days.
What you need before you start
- A compatible Galaxy Watch with current software, paired over Bluetooth with a Galaxy smartphone.
- Samsung Health Monitor installed and available for your devices and country.
- A separate upper-arm cuff blood pressure monitor for initial calibration and recalibration. Samsung does not identify a specific approved cuff model in the cited instructions.
Compatibility varies by region and software. Samsung’s US feature page lists Galaxy Watch4 and later released Galaxy Watches, excluding Galaxy Fit. Samsung’s US announcement for the feature specifies Wear OS 4.0 or later and Android 12 or later. Samsung’s Ireland instructions include Watch Active2, Watch3 and later, and require an Android 12-or-later Galaxy phone. Check Samsung’s US Health Monitor page and the current Samsung instructions for your country rather than assuming another region’s device list applies.

Samsung announced a phased US rollout beginning March 31, 2026; that date does not mean the feature is available to every US user or device. Availability can depend on the country where the device was bought and local medical-device approvals. Samsung’s Ireland country list is dated July 28, 2025, so confirm current local availability in Samsung Health Monitor and on your regional Samsung support page. Samsung also warns that factory-resetting a device or reinstalling the app while travelling in a non-service region can restrict access. See the US rollout announcement and Samsung Ireland’s instructions.

Calibration is required before the watch can provide blood pressure readings. Samsung’s procedure uses three cuff measurements, taken within a 30-minute window and entered into Samsung Health Monitor as the app prompts. The cuff goes on one upper arm and the watch on the opposite wrist. Use the wrist you intend to wear the watch on for later readings.

- Sit in a quiet indoor place with your back supported, feet flat and legs uncrossed. Rest your forearms on a table and remain seated for at least five minutes.
- Put the cuff on one upper arm and the watch on the opposite wrist. Follow the cuff monitor’s instructions and take three readings within 30 minutes.
- Enter each cuff result in Samsung Health Monitor when prompted. Stay still, do not speak or move the cuff arm, and breathe normally during the cuff measurements.
Samsung says to recalibrate every 28 days. The app also allows earlier recalibration. You will need the cuff again whenever you recalibrate.
Take a blood pressure reading with the watch
- Wear the watch on the same wrist used during calibration. It should fit snugly without being tight.
- Repeat the preparation: avoid smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol and caffeine for 30 minutes; sit quietly for at least five minutes with your back supported, feet flat and legs uncrossed; and rest your forearm on a table. Keep your skin dry and free of lotion.
- On the watch, open Samsung Health Monitor, select Blood pressure, tap Measure, review the prompt and tap OK.
- Keep still and do not talk while the watch measures. When it finishes, review the systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse shown on the watch.
When Bluetooth connects to the Galaxy phone used for calibration, Samsung says the reading syncs to Samsung Health Monitor on the phone.

Understand the readings and the limits
Samsung lists a US measurement operating range of systolic 70–180 mmHg and diastolic 40–120 mmHg. Its US calibration range is systolic 80–170 mmHg and diastolic 50–110 mmHg. These are device operating ranges, not clinical thresholds or evidence that a reading is accurate for diagnosing a condition.
Samsung describes the feature as wellness tracking, not a way to diagnose or treat hypertension or another condition. Do not change medication or dosage, or make clinical decisions, based on watch readings without consulting a qualified healthcare professional. Samsung’s US announcement states that the feature is not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat or prevent disease.

Use the Instructions for Use for your own country to check whether the feature is appropriate for you. Restrictions are not identical across Samsung’s regional pages: for example, Samsung Ireland lists people under 22 and certain health conditions, while Samsung Australia’s page, updated August 10, 2026 and limited to Australian products, also lists pregnancy. Consult your local instructions and a clinician rather than applying another country’s list as universal guidance.

- Check country availability. Samsung restricts service by country or region, and an app may not be available for a device bought elsewhere. Verify the current local Samsung availability information before treating this as a watch fault.
- Check device and software compatibility. Regional support lists differ, and Samsung’s US feature page and US rollout announcement describe their own device and operating-system requirements. Check your local Samsung page and update the watch through Galaxy Wearable.
- Confirm the phone and app setup. Samsung’s setup instructions call for a Galaxy smartphone paired with the watch by Bluetooth. Open Samsung Health Monitor on the phone and follow its profile setup prompts.
- Consider recent travel or reinstalling. Samsung warns that a factory reset or app reinstall while travelling in a region where the service is unavailable can restrict service. Check regional access before resetting or reinstalling.
For a general US adult context only—not a statement about watch accuracy—the CDC estimates that 48.1% (119.9 million) of US adults had high blood pressure, defined as systolic pressure greater than 130 mm Hg, diastolic pressure greater than 80 mm Hg, or taking medication for high blood pressure. The estimate uses NHANES data from 2017 through March 2020; the CDC page was updated in 2026. See the CDC facts and statistics.
