YouTube TV’s standard plan allows up to three devices to stream at once, shared across the subscriber and family group. How many devices can watch YouTube TV at once?
Google / YouTube TV Help says a standard plan can stream on up to three devices at the same time. A computer and a mobile device count as two devices. The limit is shared by the subscriber and family members, not three streams per person. The help page does not display a publication year for this rule. See YouTube TV’s device-limit help.

Home Area vs. Current Playback Area

Changing the Home Area requires you to be physically present in the new area, and Google says the account may change it no more than twice in 12 months. Use Current Playback Area when traveling rather than changing the home market. YouTube TV does not make its programs available during international travel. Google’s location settings help.

How do I change my YouTube TV Home Area?
For a permanent move, make the change while physically in the new home area. The subscriber should use a mobile web browser or computer:
- Open YouTube TV and select your profile picture.
- Choose Home Area.
- Select Update and follow the prompts.
Google’s help material says Home Area can be changed no more than twice in a 12-month period, but does not display a publication year for this rule. Avoid using a change for a short trip; Current Playback Area is the travel setting.

How do I update my location while traveling?
For travel within the United States, update Current Playback Area so YouTube TV can show local programming for your present location. The local channels available may differ from those at home. Local programming outside your home area cannot be recorded. Google’s location settings help.

- Open YouTube TV and select your profile picture.
- Choose Location.
- Select Update next to Current playback area, then complete the location verification prompt.
On a TV
- Open YouTube TV and select your profile picture.
- Go to Settings, then Area.
- Choose Current Playback Area and follow the location verification prompt.
If the service says you are outside your home area while you are traveling, update Current Playback Area rather than changing Home Area. Frequent travelers should use YouTube TV at home at least once every three months. Google separately advises MLB fans to check in at home at least every 30 days to help avoid MLB game-related viewing restrictions. The help pages do not display publication years for these intervals. How do family members affect device access?
A YouTube TV family group can include the subscriber and up to five additional members. Google says family members must primarily live in the same household and periodically use YouTube TV at the home location to maintain access. The service’s three-device concurrent limit is shared across the group. Google’s family sharing help.
The family manager controls the Home Area and family membership. If a member loses access, check that the person still meets household eligibility and uses YouTube TV at the home location periodically. A family member cannot independently change the account’s Home Area.

What if three streams are not enough at home?
Unlimited in-home streams are available only with an eligible 4K Plus or NFL Sunday Ticket subscription, and the content covered depends on which add-on you have. They are not a general unlimited-stream upgrade for every program. The family manager must set the home network while in the home area; Google says the home network setting can be changed up to three times in 30 days. - While at home, have the family manager open YouTube TV and go to the home network setting.
- Set the network used as the household’s home network, following the on-screen prompts.
- Confirm that the content you are trying to watch is covered by your 4K Plus or NFL Sunday Ticket subscription.
Only the family manager can set the home network for a family plan. If an eligible add-on is not active, or the program is outside that add-on’s coverage, the standard three-device limit applies.

How do I switch or remove an account on one TV?
If the TV is signed into the wrong Google account, open the profile menu, open the account dropdown, then select another account or add one. To remove an account from that device, use the account switcher. Switching or removing an account affects that device; libraries and recordings are not shared between accounts.
