Have a moderator watch the filtered feed and handle routine safety actions while you acknowledge selected supporters; afterward, review purchases in YouTube Studio.
Filter the live chat to find Super Chats
- On YouTube’s website: open the livestream’s live chat, select Chat filter, then select Fan funding.
- In the YouTube mobile app: open chat, tap Settings > Chat filter > Fan funding.
- To return to the full conversation, select All messages.
Fan funding is a view filter for the creator or person monitoring chat. It does not turn off ordinary chat, change what viewers see, or prevent viewers from participating. Super Chat and Super Stickers are available on eligible live streams and Premieres when live chat is on; check eligibility and availability in your account and region.

For context, YouTube Help says viewers can send up to 11 live-chat messages every 30 seconds, with a 200-character limit per message. Those are general viewer chat limits, not a special Super Chat management limit. YouTube says live chat appears on watch pages, not embedded players. YouTube Help: Use live chat.

Set up a workable routine for a 24/7 stream
Before the stream
- Appoint moderators and agree on simple escalation rules: what they should remove, when they should use a timeout, and when to hide a repeat offender.
- In YouTube Studio’s Community moderation and content controls, consider blocked words and whether to hold potentially inappropriate live-chat messages for review. Basic holds potentially inappropriate messages; Strict holds a broader range. Held messages stay hidden if nobody acts on them.
- Decide who will watch Fan funding and how the host wants supporters’ messages surfaced. A moderator can monitor purchases and flag selected messages while the host stays focused on the stream.
This division of duties is a practical workflow based on YouTube’s documented tools, not a YouTube requirement. On a nonstop stream, write down the handoff plan so coverage does not depend on one person watching continuously.

While the stream is live
- Keep chat open with Fan funding selected when you want to focus on purchases; switch to All messages when you need the wider conversation.
- Acknowledge a purchase with a concise spoken thank-you or heart the Super Chat or Super Sticker. Everyone can see the heart; the buyer may also receive a notification depending on their settings.
- Use slow mode if chat volume needs to be limited. It controls how often a user can post; it does not replace moderation.
YouTube also says chat activity can surface automatic messages for milestones, such as a buyer’s first or tenth purchase. Treat these as chat activity, not as a substitute for checking the actual message.
Moderate a paid message when necessary
Super Chats and Super Stickers can be moderated with the same live-chat tools as other messages. Choose the response according to the content and any repeated behavior:

- Delete: remove a specific message that breaks chat rules.
- Timeout: temporarily stop a user from posting. YouTube’s moderator guidance lists timeout periods from 10 seconds up to 24 hours.
- Hide user: make that user’s chat messages and comments invisible to other viewers. YouTube says the user is not notified.
Make clear in your channel policy how moderators should escalate repeat behavior. Hiding or deleting a message is a moderation action, not a refund mechanism. YouTube says deleting a Super Chat from post-stream history does not issue a refund. Separately, when YouTube removes a paid item for violating its policies, it says its portion of the revenue is donated to charity. Know what moderators can and cannot do
Standard and managing moderators can take moderation actions, while managing moderators have additional options. YouTube’s Android guidance says managing moderators do not have access to Live Control Room or YouTube Studio. Keep Studio configuration and reporting tasks with the creator or someone who has the appropriate access.

Do not rely on a pinned message to outrank Supers
A creator can pin one message at a time, and moderators cannot pin on the creator’s behalf. A pinned message appears below Super Chat, so use it for a short instruction or schedule note rather than expecting it to stay above paid messages. YouTube Help: Pin a message.
Review Super Chat activity after the stream
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Supers to see purchase activity, including recent purchases and transaction information.
- Use YouTube Analytics under Revenue to review Supers revenue.
- Decide whether to keep live chat replay enabled on the stream archive. YouTube’s moderation guidance says replay is on by default and can be turned off.
YouTube Help currently says Studio can show Supers purchases from the past 30 days. It also says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees.
