HMD’s AI companion service for the HMD Fuse phone is called HarmBlock+. To stop future subscription charges, contact HMD support; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and HMD’s Australian terms say the current period is not refundable. If you instead want to remove parental controls while preserving the child’s phone data, use Remove device without factory reset in the guardian HarmBlock+ app. That is a separate device-removal process, not the ordinary billing-cancellation route.
First identify which HMD service you are managing
HMD’s materials describe HarmBlock+ as part of the HMD Fuse phone ecosystem. It combines parental controls with HarmBlock AI and is managed by a guardian through the HarmBlock+ app. The controls apply to the linked HMD Fuse phone used by the child.

That terminology matters because “HMD AI companion subscription” is not generally presented as a separate standalone app subscription in the support material. When you contact support, describe it as the HarmBlock+ subscription for HMD Fuse, and include the guardian account and linked child device.
Choose the outcome you actually want
There are two different actions that are easy to confuse. One stops renewal billing. The other removes the child device from HarmBlock+ and removes its parental controls while retaining user data.

| Goal | Correct route | Billing result | Control and data result | Who handles it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stop the HarmBlock+ subscription renewing | Ask HMD support to cancel the subscription | Renewal stops at the end of the current billing period | Use continues through the current period under HMD’s stated timing; the cancellation request itself is not a factory reset | HMD support |
| Remove parental controls but keep the child’s phone data | In the guardian app, select Remove device without factory reset | The FAQ directs the guardian to contact the retailer, which passes the request to HMD to stop the service | Parental controls are removed and user data is kept | Guardian app first, then the retailer and HMD |
| Erase the phone completely | Not part of the documented cancellation workflow | Does not itself establish that billing is cancelled | A factory reset would erase data, so do not use it merely to cancel | Not the recommended HarmBlock+ route |
If your priority is avoiding another charge, use the support-cancellation route even if you also plan to remove the device. If your priority is giving the child an unrestricted phone without losing photos, accounts, or other local data, start with the no-reset removal option and follow the retailer instruction.
How to cancel HarmBlock+ billing
HMD’s Australian subscription terms state: “You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting HMD support at https://www.hmd.com/support.” The practical sequence is:
- Confirm the subscription name. Identify it as HarmBlock+ for the linked HMD Fuse phone, rather than describing it only as an “AI companion” charge.
- Open HMD’s support channel. Use the support page at https://www.hmd.com/support and select the available contact method for your region.
- Request cancellation explicitly. State that you want the HarmBlock+ subscription cancelled and future renewal charges stopped. Ask support to confirm the effective cancellation date.
- Provide account and device context. Give the guardian account email, the HMD Fuse device details, and the billing confirmation or receipt if available. HMD’s cited pages do not list a mandatory document set; these details are practical preparation to help support locate the correct subscription.
- Save the confirmation. Keep the case number, email, chat transcript, or other written acknowledgement. It gives you a reference if a later charge appears.
- Continue using the service until the stated end date. HMD says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, not immediately when the request is sent.
Do not treat deleting the guardian app, removing the account from the phone, or resetting the HMD Fuse as proof that the subscription has been cancelled. The documented billing instruction is to contact HMD support.

Access during the paid period
Under HMD’s stated terms, the subscription remains in effect through the current billing period. The service therefore does not become cancelled at the exact minute you contact support; the relevant end date is the close of the period for which you have already paid or that is otherwise active.

Renewal after the period ends
Cancellation is intended to prevent the next renewal. Ask support to identify the end date in writing, especially if the request is close to the normal monthly billing date.
No partial refund under the Australian terms
HMD’s Australian subscription terms say payments for the current billing period are non-refundable and that no partial refunds are issued for an unused portion. Cancelling halfway through a month therefore does not, under those terms, create a prorated credit for the remaining days.
What cancellation does not automatically tell you
The general support material does not establish that every country uses the same cancellation channel, billing cycle, refund rule, or included-service term. The Australian language should not be presented as a worldwide promise. For a market other than Australia, ask HMD support to confirm the local effective date and refund policy.

How to remove HarmBlock+ controls without wiping the HMD Fuse
Use this route when the child should keep the phone’s existing user data but no longer be managed by HarmBlock+. HMD’s support FAQ names the command Remove device without factory reset and says it removes parental controls while keeping user data so the child can continue using the phone.

- Open the guardian HarmBlock+ app on the guardian’s device.
- Open the child’s linked device settings. Select the HMD Fuse phone associated with the child account.
- Choose “Remove device without factory reset.” Check the wording carefully; the no-reset option is the one that preserves data.
- Confirm the removal in the app. Follow any on-screen confirmation presented by the guardian app.
- Contact the retailer where the HMD Fuse was purchased. HMD’s FAQ instructs the guardian to contact the retailer after this step. The retailer passes the request to HMD so the service can be stopped.
- Ask for written confirmation of the service status. Keep the retailer or HMD reference, and verify whether any remaining billing period and final charge are still governed by your local terms.
This workflow is specifically designed to avoid a factory reset. It is therefore the appropriate documented choice when preserving the child’s local data is more important than erasing the device. It should not be confused with cancelling a subscription directly through HMD support: the app command changes the device-control relationship, while the retailer-to-HMD step handles stopping the service associated with that removal request.
Australian term, price and billing schedule
The clearest published figures in HMD’s material are Australia-specific. HMD says an Australian HMD Fuse purchase includes a 12-month initial service term beginning at activation. If the customer continues after that included term, the service becomes a paid subscription.
| Item | Published Australian detail | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Included initial term | 12 months | Applies to the Australian HMD Fuse terms and begins at activation |
| Subscription price | AU$24.95 per month | Published by HMD Global Oy in 2025; Australia-specific figure |
| Charge timing | Monthly in advance | HMD says the charge is made on the same date as the initial activation |
| Failed payment consequence | Service access may be suspended or terminated | Stated in HMD’s billing terms; the exact handling can depend on the account and local terms |
| Refund treatment | Current-period payments are non-refundable; no partial refunds | Australian subscription terms |
For example, if activation occurred on the 15th, HMD’s Australian description indicates that monthly billing is scheduled on that activation date once the paid subscription begins. A cancellation submitted on the 20th would normally be measured against the active billing period, not treated as an immediate stop on the 20th. Confirm the exact end date with support because regional account records and local terms control the transaction.

The available published material does not establish equivalent pricing or a 12-month included term in other markets.

Billing problems and failed-payment scenarios
You were charged after asking to cancel
Check the cancellation confirmation and the effective end date first. A charge made before that date may fall inside the final active period and may therefore be treated as a valid current-period payment under the Australian no-refund language. If the charge occurred after the confirmed cancellation date, contact HMD support with the case reference, receipt, charge date, and account email.
A payment failed and the controls stopped working
HMD says a failed payment can lead to suspension or termination of service access. Contact HMD support rather than creating a second subscription or repeatedly changing the child’s phone settings. Ask whether the account is suspended, terminated, or awaiting payment correction, and request the local recovery options.
You cancelled but still see the app
The presence of the guardian app on a phone is not itself evidence that a paid subscription is active. Check the support confirmation and the billing record. If the goal is also to remove parental controls, complete the separate no-reset device-removal workflow in the guardian app.
Support escalation when the normal route does not solve it
HMD directs customers to the retailer from which they bought the HMD Fuse when the FAQ does not resolve the issue. This is especially relevant to the “Remove device without factory reset” path, because the FAQ tells the guardian to contact that retailer so the request can be passed to HMD.

HMD’s broader support center identifies itself as the authorized support channel for HMD and Nokia devices and offers chat, email, phone, and order-management routes. Availability and contact options can vary by country, so use the regional choices shown on HMD’s support page.
Prepare before contacting support
- Guardian account email and the name used for the purchase
- HMD Fuse model or device identifiers shown in the account
- Purchase receipt or order confirmation
- Recent billing confirmation, invoice, or payment date
- Date you first requested cancellation or device removal
- Any previous support case number or retailer reference
HMD’s cited pages do not prescribe this as a fixed mandatory list. It is a practical checklist to reduce back-and-forth and help the representative distinguish the correct child device from another HMD product or account.
Cancellation versus device removal: decision guide
Use the following choices to avoid taking an irreversible step for the wrong problem:
- You only want to stop future charges: contact HMD support and request subscription cancellation.
- You want the child to keep all existing data but lose parental controls: use “Remove device without factory reset” in the guardian app, then contact the retailer as instructed.
- You want both outcomes: document the support cancellation request and separately complete the no-reset removal flow. Ask each contact to confirm which part it has handled.
- You are considering a factory reset: stop and verify your goal first. The documented no-reset option is designed to preserve data, while a reset is not established as a billing-cancellation method.
- You are outside Australia: use HMD or the retailer for the local price, initial-term length, effective date, and refund rules rather than assuming the Australian terms apply.
After cancellation or removal: a practical verification checklist
- Record the date and channel used for the request.
- Save HMD’s or the retailer’s confirmation and any stated end date.
- Check the next expected billing date against the cancellation effective date.
- Review the payment method after that date for an unexpected renewal charge.
- If controls were meant to be removed, verify on the HMD Fuse that parental restrictions are gone while the child’s data remains present.
- If a charge or control remains contrary to the confirmation, reopen the same support case and provide the saved evidence instead of starting an unrelated request.
The key distinction is simple: HMD support handles ordinary subscription cancellation, while the guardian app’s no-reset command handles device-control removal and leads to a retailer-to-HMD service-stop request. Keeping those two workflows separate protects both your billing position and the child’s phone data.
