What the YXSTABY can—and cannot—do

The US listing gives dimensions of 38 5/8 × 10 5/8 × 6 1/4 inches; IKEA UK lists 98 × 27 × 16 cm. IKEA says the stand fits one larger monitor or two 24-inch monitors and states a maximum load of 20 kg per shelf. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. - List what needs power or a connection. Note your monitor or monitors, computer or console, and powered accessories. Identify where each device will sit and which cables must reach it.
- Locate the room outlet. Work out the route from the outlet to your desk and from any power strip to the devices. This is a planning approach, not an IKEA-prescribed route.
- Check the stand footprint and monitor placement. Compare the published dimensions with your desk and confirm the monitor bases sit securely. Keep the manufacturer’s 20 kg-per-shelf limit in mind when arranging items.
- Leave practical slack. Allow enough cable length to connect devices and move them for routine adjustments without pulling connections tight. Avoid routing cords where they can be pinched or snagged.
Use the stand’s cable management and holders
Once devices are positioned, use the YXSTABY’s advertised cable-management feature to organize the cords that run around the stand. IKEA does not publish a specific path or diagram in the cited listing, so inspect the stand itself and route cables only through features that are visibly provided; do not assume there is a particular concealed channel or attachment point.

The flexible holders are for small gaming essentials such as a headset, controller, or phone. They can help keep those items accessible and off the main work surface, but the product description does not say that the holders are designed to support power strips or manage electrical loads.
Make use of the space beneath the stand
IKEA says the open area below the stand can hold a laptop, keyboard, or other accessories. Treat it as usable storage space, not as a designated powered-device compartment: the product listing does not specify ventilation performance, cable routing for equipment stored there, or rules for positioning powered devices. Keep cords arranged so that they are not trapped beneath an item or pulled when you retrieve it.

Choose separate cable accessories only after measuring
A cable tray, clips, ties, or a power strip may help with a particular desk layout, but the cited IKEA information does not establish a specific compatible accessory or required electrical setup. Before buying or attaching anything, check:

- Available desk and stand clearance, including space needed to reach plugs.
- Cord lengths and whether the planned route reaches each device without tension.
- The accessory maker’s mounting instructions, surface compatibility, and load limits.
- Whether a removable arrangement would suit your desk better than a permanent mount.
The YXSTABY’s top panel is particleboard with melamine foil and plastic edging; its side, support, and holder parts are steel with an epoxy/polyester powder coating. The product description does not establish whether adhesive-mounted accessories will adhere reliably to these surfaces, so verify compatibility with the accessory manufacturer instead of assuming adhesive mounts will work.
