To play prerecorded church worship videos in a set order on YouTube Live, send a continuous feed from an encoder such as OBS Studio. In OBS, use a VLC Video source playlist, put the files in the intended order, turn off shuffle, and set looping according to the service plan. Then connect OBS to a scheduled YouTube Live event with its stream URL and key, check the preview, and start the event in Live Control Room.
Prepare the worship-service rundown
Decide the sequence before configuring the playlist. For example, a service might use a title card, welcome, worship video, announcements, sermon, and closing. This is only an example; choose the order that fits your service.

Build an ordered playlist in OBS
Add the VLC Video source
OBS’s VLC Video source supports playlists. VLC must be installed for this source type to appear, and OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Add the files in the order you want them to play. See the OBS Media Sources guide.

Check shuffle and looping
- Shuffle Playlist: Keep this off to preserve the listed sequence. OBS documents that shuffle is off by default; turning it on randomizes the list.
- Loop Playlist: Choose this deliberately. OBS documents that looping is on by default, so the source starts again after the last item. Turn it off for a one-pass service; leave it on only if you intend the entire sequence to repeat.
Use the OBS preview and audio meters to review what viewers will receive. OBS strongly recommends a short test before relying on a setup for a first stream; a rehearsal on your own computer, network, and channel is the way to catch system-specific problems. See the OBS Quick Start Guide.
Schedule the YouTube Live event and connect OBS
- Schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and schedule a stream from the Manage tab. Scheduling creates an upcoming event viewers can find, share, and set a reminder for; it does not itself play local media files in sequence.
- Get the event connection details: Use the scheduled event’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder. The labels and controls can change, so follow the current YouTube Studio interface. YouTube explains that the key tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it; treat it like a password and do not expose it in screenshots or public volunteer notes.
- Check the incoming preview: Start the encoder feed and wait until the preview appears in Live Control Room. Check the picture and sound before starting the event.
- Start the event: When the scheduled stream is ready, click Go live in Live Control Room. YouTube’s current encoder instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder; stream-key details are in Manage live stream settings.
Rehearse and manage the ending
Before the service, run a short rehearsal through the whole chain: playlist order, audio, OBS preview, YouTube preview, and the transition into the live event. Confirm that the next item starts when expected and that the final item behaves as planned with looping either on or off.

At the end, end the event in Live Control Room and stop sending the encoder feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If the archive matters to your church, confirm the current channel and event settings rather than assuming the recording will be available in the way you need.
Clear rights for every part of the service
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it identifies such material, YouTube may show a placeholder image and warn you to stop using it; if the material remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also terminate a stream. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Check permissions for every video and audio element, including backing tracks, recordings, lyrics, and material supplied by another ministry or producer. YouTube says that even a church with a license may have a live stream interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the owner to allowlist the church channel where applicable.
