If a shove or attack connects, the two may fight, flee, or turn on you. It is an emergent interaction, not a reliable command. For repeatable brawls, PC players can install the Random Fight Events [.NET] 2.0 Overhaul in Story Mode. It creates automatic or manually triggered encounters, including team fights and free-for-alls, but requires Script Hook V and a compatible Script Hook V .NET runtime.
What you can and cannot do without mods
GTA 5 Story Mode does not provide a standard button that orders any two pedestrians to fight on demand. The dependable unmodded approach is to transfer an NPC’s existing aggression: find two pedestrians, irritate one, then place the angry character close enough that an attack or shove can hit the second person. The game may then treat the contact as a new conflict.

That behavior is deliberately unpredictable. The pedestrians can trade blows, run away, redirect their aggression at the player, or attract police. A successful attempt in one location does not establish a guaranteed sequence for every mission, crowd, platform, or version of the game. Think of it as an experiment with the ambient AI rather than a cheat or a fixed gameplay feature.
PC users who want a repeatable setup have a documented alternative: Random Fight Events [.NET] 2.0 Overhaul. Its listing says that encounters are enabled automatically after installation and can also be spawned with a keyboard shortcut. The mod is intended for GTA V Legacy or Enhanced on PC in Story Mode, not for console play or GTA Online.

Method 1: Make pedestrians fight in an unmodded session
Use this method when you are on PlayStation, Xbox, or a PC installation where you do not want to add scripts. It costs nothing and changes no files, but every result is conditional on the pedestrians’ reactions and the surrounding AI.
1. Choose a workable crowd
Find two pedestrians standing or walking close together in a busy area. A compact group gives you more opportunities to reposition an angry character without having to chase across traffic. Avoid starting beside an active mission, a crowded gunfight, or a location where a wanted level is already in progress; those events can overwhelm the interaction and make the result difficult to read.
2. Provoke only one person
Lightly bump or strike one pedestrian. The objective is to trigger an agitated response, not to knock the character out or start a large police incident. Once the first pedestrian reacts, stop attacking and keep the second person nearby. If both people become hostile toward you immediately, separate them and try again with a different pair.
3. Put the angry pedestrian in contact with the other
Move around the agitated NPC so that the character remains near the second pedestrian. A shove or swing has to connect with the other person for the game to treat the contact as a possible new dispute. You can use your own movement to guide the angry character, but avoid repeatedly striking both pedestrians yourself; doing so usually makes you the common target instead of creating a fight between them.
4. Back away and observe
After a contact, move away far enough to stop being the obvious target, then watch the pair. Possible outcomes include an exchange of punches, one person fleeing, both people attacking you, or no sustained fight at all. A passing driver or another bystander can also change the scene. Give the characters a moment to choose their response before intervening again.
5. Deal with police attention
Violence in a public area may bring police. If officers arrive, leave the area to end the encounter or accept the wanted-level consequences. Running away can also end the fight because the pedestrians lose their immediate target or fall outside the active scene. There is no unmodded setting that guarantees a private, police-free brawl.

Why the unmodded trick is inconsistent
Several independent conditions have to line up for the improvised fight to work. The first pedestrian must enter an aggressive state, remain close to the second pedestrian, and actually connect with an attack or shove. The second pedestrian must respond as an opponent rather than flee or focus on you. Nearby traffic, mission scripts, police, and additional bystanders can interrupt any of those stages.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBecause the interaction is emergent, repeating the same actions in the same general place may produce different outcomes. Some attempts end after one animation, while others become a longer exchange. The available evidence does not establish a universal button sequence, a guaranteed distance, or a platform-specific timing trick that forces the result.
This limitation matters when interpreting videos or anecdotes. A clip showing two pedestrians fighting demonstrates that the AI can produce the interaction; it does not prove that the same pair, location, or input order will work every time. If your goal is a controlled demonstration, use the PC script described below rather than escalating the unmodded experiment.
Method 2: Use Random Fight Events [.NET] on PC
Random Fight Events [.NET] 2.0 Overhaul is the repeatable option documented for PC Story Mode. The listing supports GTA V Legacy and GTA V Enhanced and states that the same RandomFightEvents.dll works with both editions. It was updated 27 September 2026; compatibility and configuration can change after game or runtime updates, so check the current listing before installing.
Requirements
- A PC copy of GTA V with Story Mode.
- Either GTA V Legacy or GTA V Enhanced.
- Script Hook V.
- Either Script Hook V .NET 3 (SHVDN 3) or Script Hook V .NET Enhanced (SHVDNE).
- The mod files
RandomFightEvents.dllandRandomFightEvents.ini.
The mod is a third-party script. Keep it confined to Story Mode and keep your mod files separate from GTA Online. Third-party scripts can stop working when GTA V is updated, so retain a backup of your saves and be prepared to remove or replace the runtime if the game changes.
Install the script
- Close GTA V and confirm that you are working with the PC installation you intend to modify.
- Install Script Hook V according to its own current instructions.
- Install a compatible SHVDN 3 or SHVDNE runtime. The Random Fight Events listing requires one of these .NET runtimes in addition to Script Hook V.
- Locate the GTA V
scriptsdirectory. CopyRandomFightEvents.dllandRandomFightEvents.iniinto that folder. - Launch GTA V and enter Story Mode, not GTA Online.
- Leave the default configuration in place for the first test. The listing says automatic encounters are enabled by default.
If the script is installed correctly, the mod handles encounter creation without a special in-game menu. Start in a quiet Story Mode session so you can distinguish a generated event from ordinary pedestrian behavior.

Spawn events manually
Manual spawning is useful when you want to test the installation immediately instead of waiting for the automatic check. Open RandomFightEvents.ini, set ManualSpawnEnabled=true, reload the script, and press F5. The listing also allows you to change ManualSpawnKey if F5 conflicts with another script or your preferred controls.
Use one trigger at a time while troubleshooting. If a manual spawn works but automatic events do not appear, the script is loading and the difference is likely the automatic schedule or its chance setting rather than the basic installation.
Understand the automatic schedule
The default automatic behavior checks once per minute and gives the event a 20 percent chance of spawning at that check. After a successful automatic spawn, the script imposes a minimum three-minute gap before another automatic event. These values describe the mod’s defaults, not a guarantee that an encounter will occur within any particular number of minutes.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A 20 percent check is best understood as repeated opportunities, not a promise of one event every five minutes. A check can fail, and the three-minute minimum prevents immediate back-to-back successes after an event has spawned. Manual spawning bypasses the wait when you need a controlled test.
What the PC mod can create
Different fight sizes
The mod listing describes automatic encounters involving two to six fighters. That range is useful for testing: begin with the smallest encounter so you can see how the script behaves, then observe larger groups once your runtime is stable. The number refers to fighters in the generated encounter; additional bystanders may still react to the scene.
Team fights and free-for-alls
Events can be organized as team fights or free-for-all brawls. A team fight gives the scene opposing sides, while a free-for-all lets each participant act independently. These modes create different patterns of targeting and make the script more suitable for demonstrations than the unmodded one-on-one experiment.

Bystanders and drivers
Nonparticipants can watch, cheer, film, or join the fight. Passing drivers may honk and can occasionally intervene. Their behavior means that the visible crowd can grow beyond the initial fighter count, and it also explains why an event may look different from one spawn to the next.
Weapons and reactions
The listing includes melee weapons and occasional firearms, along with surrender, fleeing, and retaliation behaviors. A firearm event has a much greater chance of drawing police or turning the crowd against the player, so keep distance and treat every generated encounter as potentially more dangerous than a fistfight.
Unmodded experiment versus PC script
The two approaches solve different problems. The unmodded experiment is quick and available on every platform, but it depends on AI reactions. The script requires a PC installation and runtime setup, yet provides repeatable spawning and a wider range of encounter types.
| Comparison | Unmodded experiment | Random Fight Events [.NET] |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | PC, PlayStation, and Xbox can attempt the informal interaction | Documented for PC GTA V Legacy or Enhanced |
| Repeatability | Emergent and inconsistent; no guaranteed sequence | Automatic events plus optional manual spawning |
| Setup effort | None; use pedestrians already in Story Mode | Install Script Hook V, SHVDN 3 or SHVDNE, and two mod files |
| Fighter count | Usually starts with two pedestrians, with unpredictable bystander involvement | Generated encounters with 2–6 fighters |
| Fight formats | Whatever the ambient AI happens to produce | Team fights and free-for-alls |
| Weapons | Not controlled by this technique | Melee weapons and occasional firearms can appear |
| Player and police risk | Provocation can redirect aggression to you or attract police | Fleeing, surrender, retaliation, firearms, and bystander intervention can escalate the scene |
Troubleshooting the unmodded attempt
The first pedestrian will not attack
Reduce the intensity of the provocation and try another pedestrian pair. The goal is an agitated response, not a knockout. If the character runs immediately, choose two pedestrians in a busier area and keep the second person close while you reposition.
The NPCs attack you instead
Once both pedestrians identify you as the threat, moving between them usually reinforces that target. Stop striking, create a little space, and watch whether one character redirects toward the other. If both continue pursuing you, leave the area and restart with a new pair.

Pedestrians may flee, lose contact, or be interrupted by traffic and police. Try again away from an active mission and remain close enough for the shove or attack to connect, then back away only after contact occurs. No unmodded setting can force a longer fight.

Troubleshooting the PC mod
No event appears after installation
Verify the scope first: the script is for PC Story Mode, not console editions or GTA Online. Confirm that both RandomFightEvents.dll and RandomFightEvents.ini are in the game’s scripts folder and that Script Hook V plus either SHVDN 3 or SHVDNE is installed. Then enable manual spawning, reload the script, and press F5. A successful manual event indicates that the files are being loaded even if the automatic timer has not produced an event.
Automatic events seem rare
The defaults check once per minute with a 20 percent chance, and a successful spawn starts a minimum three-minute gap. Waiting through several failed checks is therefore normal. Use manual spawning to separate a timing issue from a loading issue, then return to automatic mode when you are satisfied with the installation.
The script stops after a GTA V update
Third-party scripts can become incompatible when the game or a supporting runtime changes. Remove the script from the active scripts folder or restore your backed-up setup, then check for current versions of Script Hook V, SHVDN 3 or SHVDNE, and Random Fight Events. Do not move an unverified script into GTA Online while testing a fix.

F5 does nothing
Check that ManualSpawnEnabled=true is present in the INI and that the script has been reloaded after saving the file. If another script uses F5, assign a different value to ManualSpawnKey and reload again. Manual spawning cannot work if the .NET runtime or the main DLL is not loading, so confirm those prerequisites before changing keys repeatedly.
Console, PC, and online boundaries
The repeatable setup described here is documented for PC only. No supported PlayStation or Xbox workflow is established for this script, so console players should use the informal provoke-and-reposition experiment and should not expect the same fighter counts, weapons, or timing.
Keep every test in Story Mode. The instructions and behaviors described for Random Fight Events do not establish compatibility with GTA Online, and third-party files should remain isolated from online play. A separate Story Mode setup also makes it easier to restore the game if an update breaks a dependency.
Best way to choose
- Choose the unmodded method if you are on console, cannot install PC runtimes, or only need to see whether two nearby pedestrians happen to clash.
- Choose the PC mod if you want repeatable demonstrations, 2–6 fighters, team or free-for-all formats, configurable spawning, and the possibility of weapons or bystander participation.
- Use manual spawning first when validating a PC installation; switch to the default automatic schedule only after the script responds to its trigger.
- Back up and isolate files whenever you use third-party scripts, because game updates can change compatibility and public fights can escalate to police or player aggression.
The practical bottom line is simple: without mods, you can sometimes make pedestrians fight by provoking one and guiding its aggression into another, but the result is never guaranteed. On PC Story Mode, Random Fight Events [.NET] supplies the repeatability that the native AI lacks, provided Script Hook V and a compatible SHVDN runtime are installed and kept current.
