Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To loop church sermon videos on YouTube Live, repeat them in an encoder such as OBS Studio and send the encoder’s output to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room. Use OBS’s Loop setting for one video or a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist for several. Test the transitions before going public: these settings repeat media, but OBS does not promise frame-perfect, gap-free handoffs between files.
Why YouTube’s Loop button does not make a live loop
YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control repeats a video or playlist for someone watching regular YouTube playback. It does not create a live broadcast. For a YouTube Live loop, the repetition must happen in the video feed your encoder sends to YouTube.

OBS is one documented way to do that. It plays local media in a scene and sends that scene as the live feed. You can use one sermon file or arrange several in a playlist.
Choose a single sermon or a playlist
One sermon repeated
Add the file to an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. OBS defines this setting as replaying the file after playback completes. It is the simpler setup when the same sermon should repeat indefinitely.

Several sermons in a set order
Add a VLC Video source, put the files in the order you want, and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for this source to appear in OBS. Leave shuffle off if the sequence matters, and check the source’s visibility behavior against your scene setup.
OBS lists MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM among common video formats for media sources. Prepare your files locally and confirm that each plays before building the live scene.

Set up an OBS sermon loop
- Prepare the media. Choose one sermon file for a single-video loop, or gather the files for a playlist and set their intended order.
- Add a source to your scene. In OBS, add a Media Source for one file or a VLC Video source for multiple files. Keep the media source visible in the program output.
- Set the repeat behavior. For one file, turn on Loop in the Media Source settings. For a playlist, add the videos in order to VLC Video and turn on Loop Playlist. Keep shuffle off when order matters.
- Check playback and source activity settings. OBS includes options such as restart-on-activation and close-file-when-inactive. Consider how they interact with your scene changes; an inactive or hidden source may not behave as expected for an uninterrupted program.
- Build the program scene. Add any title card or church branding without covering the sermon video or hiding the media source. Check that the media remains visible in the scene you intend to broadcast.
- Connect OBS to YouTube Live. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and copy its stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Enter those in OBS’s streaming connection settings. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not show or share it.
- Start a private test and inspect the preview. Start sending the encoder feed and check the YouTube preview before inviting viewers. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and then select Go live when ready.
- Run at least one full cycle. Listen for missing or overlapping audio, verify the video order and aspect ratio, and watch the boundary between every file. Test on the actual machine and setup you plan to use; looping controls do not establish that transitions will be seamless.
Reduce the chance of interruptions during the broadcast
Leave upload bandwidth headroom
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth headroom of 20% beyond the total stream bitrate. This is YouTube’s operational recommendation, not a guarantee against interruption. Network disruption can break a stream, so avoid using all available upload capacity for the broadcast.

Preview and monitor the stream
YouTube recommends testing with audio and motion similar to the real stream, previewing in Live Control Room, and continuously monitoring audio and video. Watch stream health and any messages YouTube displays rather than assuming that a successful connection means the whole loop is playing correctly.

Use RTMPS where supported
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends RTMPS for secure ingest. Use the protocol supported by your encoder and check its settings before changing protocol or other advanced options.
Consider a backup encoder only if you need failover
A backup encoder is an operational resilience option, not a requirement for a basic sermon loop. If you configure one, test failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its network connection and confirming that playback rolls over to the backup.

What to do about gaps between sermon files
First determine where the interruption occurs. A pause at the end of a file may come from the media boundary or the encoder’s playback behavior; a stream interruption may instead involve the connection to YouTube. Watch and listen to the YouTube preview during a complete test cycle so you can distinguish the two.
- There is a pause or silence at a file boundary: test the files in the intended order and inspect each transition in the actual OBS scene. The documented loop settings do not guarantee gapless playback. If a particular handoff is unacceptable, revise the media or workflow and test it again before the public broadcast.
- A file fails to restart or the playlist stops: confirm the appropriate Loop or Loop Playlist option is enabled, the source is present and visible, and the files play in OBS. Check restart-on-activation and close-file-when-inactive behavior if scenes or visibility change.
- The wrong sermon plays next: review the VLC Video list order and make sure shuffle is off.
- The YouTube preview is missing or not receiving the intended feed: check that OBS is sending to the stream URL and key for the live stream selected in Live Control Room. A watch page is created once the encoder starts sending its feed.
- The stream health degrades or the broadcast drops: check YouTube’s health messages and your network, then restore upload bandwidth headroom and test again. YouTube notes that network disruption can break a stream.
- A scene change interrupts the video: check that the media source stays visible and review its activation and inactive-file settings.
End, archive, or schedule the loop carefully
YouTube’s encoder instructions describe ending a live stream by stopping content from the encoder; scheduled-stream instructions also describe clicking End stream and stopping the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Check the current Live Control Room behavior and account settings before planning a long-running broadcast, especially if an archive matters to the church.
