How to Make an LG OLED TV Warranty Claim (U.S. Guide)

To make an LG OLED TV warranty claim in the United States, first identify the exact model and serial number, verify that the purchase date and the reported fault fit that model’s warranty, then submit a repair request through LG or contact LG support. Have your dated receipt or bill of sale ready. Filing a request asks LG to evaluate the problem; it does not guarantee approval, a replacement, or a particular repair time.

  • Confirm the model-specific parts, labor and, where applicable, panel terms.
  • Record the model number, serial number, purchase or delivery date and symptom.
  • Keep the dated proof of purchase available as a scan or clear photo.
  • Use LG’s current Request a Repair page, 24/7 chat or published telephone support.
  • Do not ship the television or let an unauthorized technician open it until LG gives instructions.

What an LG OLED warranty claim actually covers

An LG warranty claim is a request for LG to assess whether a failure qualifies for a remedy under the warranty attached to your particular television. LG’s current product-support wording says: “If your LG Product fails during the Product’s warranty period, LG will, at its option, repair or replace the Product.” That sentence describes the available remedy after LG applies the warranty terms; it is not an automatic approval rule.

This guide is for consumer televisions purchased, installed and used in the United States, including U.S. territories, as described by LG’s U.S. warranty information. Warranty rules, service channels and consumer protections differ elsewhere. If the TV is outside the U.S., use the LG support site and warranty supplied for the country where it was bought and used.

LG OLED coverage is not one universal five-year promise. The period can vary by model and by component. A current LG support listing for model OLED83B6GUA, for example, shows one year for parts and one year for labor. A surfaced U.S. listing for OLED77G5WUA shows a separate OLED display-panel term of two to five years, with labor charged during that extended panel term. Those are model-specific examples, not a coverage rule for every LG OLED.

Find the exact model before you call

The model code determines which warranty summary, manuals and service options apply. Read the label on the back of the television or check the original documentation and your LG account. LG’s support workflow includes a “Find My Model & Serial Number” utility; use it if the label is difficult to read.

Information to record

  • Model number: copy every letter and digit, including regional suffixes.
  • Serial number: copy it exactly; a single incorrect character can prevent LG from locating the product.
  • Purchase or delivery date: note the date shown on the receipt, invoice or delivery record.
  • Seller and location: keep the retailer name and the U.S. purchase location available if LG asks.
  • Current address and contact details: service availability can depend on where the TV is installed.

Do not rely on the model of a similar television, a retailer’s generic listing or a forum post. Open the exact model’s LG product-support page and read the warranty information supplied with the set. LG says the detailed warranty delivered in the product packaging controls terms that are not shown in a short online summary.

Check whether the problem and date fit the warranty

Compare the dates with each coverage component

Use the purchase or delivery date and the exact model’s terms to determine whether parts, labor and any panel coverage are still in force. Some models can have a shorter general warranty and a different panel period. Write down the date on which you believe coverage ends for each component; this prevents a general “five-year warranty” assumption from leading you to the wrong conclusion.

Read the supplied warranty, not only a summary

The package supplied with the TV may contain definitions, territory limits, remedies, exclusions and instructions that do not appear on the product page. Keep that document with your receipt. If the online summary and the supplied warranty appear to differ, ask LG to clarify the term for your exact model and retain the answer with your case record.

Separate a manufacturer warranty from a service plan

A manufacturer warranty is tied to the television and its original warranty terms. A separately purchased protection plan has its own eligibility rules, administrator and claim route. Buying a plan after a fault appears does not convert an existing failure into a covered claim, and a plan cannot be assumed to extend LG’s original warranty.

Route Who receives the request What determines eligibility Possible charge
LG manufacturer warranty LG Request a Repair page, LG chat or LG customer service Exact model, warranty dates, covered failure and exclusions Covered service is governed by the warranty; do not assume approval before evaluation
LG Premium Care or another separately purchased plan The plan administrator’s claim channel Plan terms, enrollment and the date and nature of the failure Deductible or other plan charge may apply if stated by the plan
Out-of-warranty LG repair LG Direct Service or the current paid-repair channel Repair feasibility and your authorization LG says a diagnostic fee may be waived if you proceed with repair; the fee is subject to change

LG lists a separate claim number, 855-549-0540, for Premium Care customers. Use that route only when you are claiming under that plan. It is not a substitute for a normal manufacturer-warranty request.

Prepare the documents and a useful symptom description

Proof of purchase

Keep the dated receipt, invoice or bill of sale showing the purchase or delivery date. A linked LG OLED warranty document instructs owners to retain the dated bill of sale and provide a copy when warranty service is provided. Because that document carries a 2007 revision marker, confirm the current documentation requirement in LG’s model-specific workflow rather than assuming every older instruction remains unchanged.

Describe what the TV does

Write a short, factual description before starting the claim. Include when the problem began, whether it happens every time, which input or app is affected, and what appears on screen. Examples include “the set powers on but the screen remains black,” “a vertical line remains on every input,” or “the TV shuts down after approximately ten minutes.” If a message or error code appears, copy it exactly.

Do not claim that a panel is defective merely because a symptom resembles a photograph online. LG or an authorized technician must determine the cause. Your role is to make the failure reproducible and provide the requested information.

Evidence you can keep ready

  • A clear photo of the model and serial label, if LG’s current form requests it.
  • A photo or video showing an intermittent fault, flicker or shutdown sequence.
  • The receipt or invoice file, with sensitive payment details covered if they are not needed.
  • Dates and case numbers from earlier contacts, if the same failure was previously reported.

Photos, packaging and every item in this list are not universally required. Upload only what the current LG form or representative asks for, and do not send original documents you cannot replace.

How to submit the LG repair request online

LG’s current online repair page accepts television repair requests through an LG account. The labels can change, but the practical sequence is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open LG’s current “Request a Repair” page. Start from LG’s U.S. support area rather than a third-party repair directory.
  2. Sign in or create an LG account. The online repair flow requires an account for a request. Use an email address you check regularly.
  3. Choose the television product category. Enter the exact model and serial number when prompted. If the system cannot find the model, check the characters against the rear label and use LG’s model-and-serial utility.
  4. Enter the purchase or delivery date. Use the date on your proof of purchase, not the date you first noticed the failure.
  5. Describe the symptom precisely. State what happens, how often it happens and which tests or inputs reproduce it. Avoid a diagnosis you cannot verify.
  6. Attach documents only when requested. Provide a legible receipt or other requested file and keep the originals.
  7. Review the service address and contact information. A technician may need access to the installed TV, so confirm that the address and phone number are correct.
  8. Submit and save the confirmation. Record the case or request number, submission date and any appointment window. Save confirmation emails and take a screenshot if the page does not produce a downloadable record.

A submitted form starts an evaluation. LG may ask follow-up questions, request additional proof, schedule an authorized service visit or explain that the fault is outside the applicable terms.

Other ways to contact LG

Chat

LG’s U.S. contact information advertises 24/7 chat. Chat is useful when you need help locating the correct model warranty, correcting an online form or documenting a previous case. Ask the representative to state which warranty or service route is being used and save the transcript or case number.

Telephone

LG currently publishes customer service at 1-800-243-0000, listed daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time. Contact hours and numbers can change, so verify the details on LG’s current contact page when you call. Have the model, serial number, purchase date and receipt in front of you to avoid a second interaction.

Premium Care claims

If you bought LG Premium Care separately and the issue is being claimed under that plan, use the plan’s published claim channel, including the listed 855-549-0540 number. Confirm that the plan administrator, not the standard LG warranty desk, is handling the request and ask about any plan-specific deductible, waiting period or exclusions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What may be excluded—and how to word the question

Do not assume that every screen defect is covered. A linked LG OLED warranty PDF lists examples such as shipping damage, improper installation, misuse or negligence, power surges or outages, water damage, burn-in and work performed by non-authorized service centers. That PDF is marked as revised in 2007, so it cannot establish a universal current exclusion list for every LG OLED. Treat it as an example of terms in that document, then read the warranty supplied with your TV and the current model-specific LG information.

When you contact LG, ask a focused question: “Please tell me whether this symptom can be evaluated under the warranty for model [model number], purchased on [date].” Do not state that LG has already accepted the claim. If LG identifies an exclusion, ask which term applies and whether a paid repair or another service route is available.

What to do after submitting the claim

Keep a complete case record

  • Case or repair-request number.
  • Date, time and channel of every contact.
  • Names or representative identifiers when provided.
  • Instructions about moving, unplugging or preparing the TV.
  • Appointment dates, technician findings and any authorization you approve.

Store the record with the receipt and warranty document. If the fault is intermittent, update the case with new dates and videos rather than opening multiple duplicate requests.

Follow the authorized-service instructions

Do not ship the TV, remove the rear cover or authorize an independent internal repair before LG tells you how to proceed. The older warranty document describes an authorized-service route, but the current model’s terms and LG’s instructions control. An unauthorized repair can complicate coverage and can create a safety risk, especially with a large OLED panel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Prepare for a service visit

Ask whether the technician needs the TV accessible, whether you must disconnect external devices and whether the service address is within the supported area. Keep the remote control and power cable available if requested, but do not discard packaging solely because you expect a shipment; LG will tell you if transport is required.

If LG says the TV is out of warranty

Ask the representative to identify the coverage date or exclusion that led to the decision and record it. Then choose a separate route rather than presenting a paid repair as a warranty claim.

Request a paid LG diagnosis or repair

LG’s Direct Service option handles out-of-warranty repairs. LG says its diagnostic fee is subject to change and may be waived if you proceed with the repair. Before authorizing work, ask for the current diagnostic amount, whether it is credited toward repair, the estimated labor and parts charges, and what happens if the television is not economically repairable.

Use a separately purchased protection plan

If you have a valid Premium Care or other plan, contact its administrator and provide the plan number and purchase information. The administrator—not the ordinary manufacturer-warranty desk—will apply the plan’s terms. Do not assume the plan covers a defect that began before eligibility or that it automatically pays for a manufacturer-warranty denial.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Check local consumer protections

Manufacturer warranty terms do not replace rights that may exist under applicable state or federal law. If you believe the seller supplied a defective product or misrepresented coverage, keep the sales record and seek advice from the appropriate consumer-protection authority in your jurisdiction. Those rights vary by location and are separate from LG’s claim decision.

Common mistakes that delay an OLED claim

  • Using a similar model number: suffixes can change the applicable warranty.
  • Giving the discovery date instead of the purchase date: eligibility is normally tied to the warranty’s stated start date.
  • Calling without proof of purchase: the case may pause while LG verifies the date.
  • Describing a suspected cause as a fact: report the observable symptom and let LG determine the failure.
  • Assuming a five-year panel term applies to the whole TV: panel, parts and labor periods can differ.
  • Using an old PDF as the current policy: the linked OLED document’s 2007 revision makes it unsuitable as a universal present-day rule.
  • Opening the set or using an unauthorized repairer first: wait for LG’s service instructions.
  • Sending original receipts or personal payment data: submit only the copies and information the current form requests.
  • Failing to save the case number: without it, a follow-up can require the entire intake process again.

A practical claim checklist

  1. Locate and photograph the exact model and serial labels.
  2. Find the dated receipt, invoice or delivery record.
  3. Open the exact model’s LG U.S. support page and supplied warranty.
  4. Write a reproducible symptom description and note any error code.
  5. Check parts, labor and panel dates separately.
  6. Decide whether the request is for LG’s manufacturer warranty, a separate plan or paid service.
  7. Submit the online repair request or contact LG chat or telephone support.
  8. Save the case number, confirmation and correspondence.
  9. Follow LG’s instructions and wait for the coverage and service determination.
  10. If declined, request the reason in writing and evaluate paid service or an applicable plan separately.

What a successful next step looks like

You have completed the initial claim correctly when LG can identify the exact television, verify the purchase date, understand the symptom and reach you through the supplied contact details. The next decision—authorized repair, replacement, a request for more information or a paid-service referral—belongs to LG under the terms for that model. Keep your documentation until the case is closed and the television has been repaired or replaced.
