First classify each stream accurately, then create the playlist and add eligible videos from Studio. Viewers’ saving restrictions and a channel owner’s Studio playlist tools are separate workflows.
Decide whether the livestream is made for kids
YouTube requires creators to designate whether content is made for kids. Make the decision based on the stream’s intended audience and its child-directed characteristics, not simply on whether it is family-friendly or children might happen to watch. The creator is responsible for the selection; do not rely on automated classification to make it for you.

YouTube’s guidance discusses factors that can indicate child-directed content. If you are unsure how those factors apply to your stream, review YouTube’s guidance on determining whether content is made for kids and consider getting legal advice.

Before or during a livestream
- In YouTube Studio, select CREATE → Go live.
- Enter the stream details and privacy settings.
- In the Live Control Room, select the appropriate audience setting for the stream.
You can set an audience at the channel level or for an individual video; an individual video’s setting can override the channel setting. YouTube’s audience-setting instructions for computer cover live and archived streams.
#1 Best Overall
For a livestream that has ended
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Content → Live.
- Open the archived stream’s details and edit its audience setting.
- Save the change.
Create a playlist in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select CREATE → New playlist.
- Enter a clear playlist title and description. YouTube’s Studio instructions specify limits of 150 characters for the title and 5,000 characters for the description.
- Choose the playlist’s visibility and ordering.
- Add videos, then create the playlist.
For the creator-side workflow, see YouTube’s instructions for managing playlists in YouTube Studio. They describe adding videos from search, a URL, or the creator’s library.
Add archived livestreams and set a useful order
Use the playlist’s video-adding options to find streams in your library, search for videos, or add a URL. YouTube documents these Studio playlist-management routes separately from its viewer-facing restrictions. The Help pages do not promise that every made-for-kids archived stream will be available to add in every account or interface state. If a stream is not offered in Studio, the documented guidance does not establish an alternate workaround.

Choose an order that helps people navigate the collection: for example, newest first for a recurring series, session order for a course or event, or topic order for a themed playlist. These are organizational choices, not YouTube requirements.

Explain the viewer restrictions clearly
YouTube lists “Save to playlist and Save to watch later” as unavailable for individual made-for-kids videos and live streams. Other restrictions can apply as well, including disabled live chat and personalized advertising. These are feature limits on made-for-kids content; they do not erase the separate playlist-management controls YouTube documents for creators in Studio.
For viewers, YouTube says a made-for-kids video or channel’s content cannot be added to a playlist from a homepage, while content can still be added from search results. That viewer guidance is not a creator-side workaround and does not guarantee that a particular archived stream can be added through Studio. See YouTube’s playlist instructions and viewer restrictions and its made-for-kids feature restrictions.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a separate need—keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running continuously—StreamNeo is a cloud service that loops uploaded videos or playlists on YouTube. It does not classify content or replace the playlist and audience-setting steps above. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
