Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can make a Galaxy Z Fold feel considerably more familiar to an iPhone switcher by simplifying the Home screen, choosing a consistent wallpaper and theme, moving lock-screen shortcuts, editing the Quick panel, and tuning navigation animations. Samsung’s built-in settings and the Good Lock Home Up module handle most of this without replacing the operating system.
These changes create an iPhone-like style and rhythm, not iOS itself. The Fold will still use One UI, Samsung’s Quick panel and Edge panels, and foldable behaviors such as continuing an app from the cover display to the large inner display. Those are worth preserving because they are the reason to own a Fold.

What “more like an iPhone” can—and cannot—mean
An iPhone-like Fold setup usually means a cleaner first screen, fewer visible controls, familiar access to everyday actions, and a visual style that feels deliberate rather than densely customized. It does not mean installing iOS or reproducing every Apple system behavior. Samsung’s official documentation describes customization features, not an iOS conversion.

- Home screen: app placement, folders, widgets, wallpaper and the favorites area.
- Lock screen: shortcut positions and the information visible before unlocking.
- Navigation: Home gestures and their animation style.
- System controls: Quick panel buttons, notifications and Edge panel shortcuts.
- Fold behavior: how apps move between the cover and main displays, plus multitasking.
Change the layers in that order. It gives you a familiar appearance quickly while avoiding changes that could make the two-screen design less useful.

Choose the right customization route
There are three practical routes. Start with Samsung’s own settings, add Good Lock if you want finer control, and consider a third-party launcher only when the first two do not provide the visual result you want.
| Route | What it changes | Setup effort | Fold-screen impact | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Built-in One UI settings | Wallpaper, theme, app layout, widgets, lock-screen shortcuts, Quick panel and Edge panel | Low | Lowest risk; preserves Samsung’s cover/main-screen behavior | A clean, familiar baseline |
| Good Lock Home Up | Home-screen decoration, favorites-row visibility and Home gesture animation | Moderate; module availability varies | Samsung-specific controls, but verify support on your model and One UI version | More visual and animation control without replacing One UI |
| Third-party launcher | Primarily the Home-screen launcher and app presentation | Moderate to high | Must be checked carefully on your Fold generation and software version | An optional, more extensive visual redesign |
Good Lock module details and supported devices can change by One UI version, Fold generation, Galaxy Store market and region. Check the current Good Lock listing on your own device before planning around a feature.
Build a simpler Home screen with One UI
Set the visual foundation
- Open the wallpaper and style controls from the Home screen. On a Fold7, double-tap the cover display and pinch the Home screen to reach wallpaper, style, themes, widgets and Home-screen settings. Other generations can use different tap paths or labels.
- Choose one wallpaper that remains legible on both displays. A restrained image with clear areas behind icons usually looks less busy than a highly detailed photo.
- Apply a theme only after checking icon and text contrast. A theme that looks attractive on the cover display can become difficult to scan across the larger inner screen.
- Use the same visual logic on both screens rather than treating the cover and main display as unrelated phones.
Samsung’s One UI 7 description emphasizes a simplified Home screen, redesigned widgets and a lock screen intended for intuitive customization. The rollout began April 7, 2025, and Samsung’s schedule included the Z Fold6, but availability and timing varied by market. That rollout date does not prove which version is installed on your Fold; confirm it under Settings > Software update.

Place only the apps you reach every day
One UI lets you move apps and create a customized Home screen. Put communication, camera, maps, calendar and the few services you use constantly on the first page. Move occasional apps to a second page or the app screen. The objective is not to hide useful software; it is to make the first glance predictable.
Use folders for categories that genuinely belong together, such as finance or travel. Avoid a folder for every two apps: too many folders add a second decision before launching anything. If you prefer an iPhone-like visual calm, leave open space instead of filling every row.
Use widgets as information, not decoration
Widgets provide at-a-glance information without opening an app. Keep only widgets that replace a repeated action, such as checking the next calendar event or weather. Place them where they remain readable on the inner display and do not force important icons below the fold on the cover display.
On a foldable, test every widget in both orientations and on both screens. A widget can look balanced on the 8-inch inner panel yet push essential controls out of view on the cover panel. The Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch main display, according to Samsung’s 2025 product announcement; earlier and later generations differ, so use your model as the final reference.

Use Good Lock Home Up for a closer visual fit
Good Lock is Samsung’s customization suite. Its Home Up module, updated for One UI 7-era devices, adds controls beyond the standard Home-screen settings.
Hide or retain the favorites row
Home Up can give you control over the favorites row. Hiding it creates a more open, icon-grid appearance; keeping it provides a fixed launch area for the apps you use most. Try both arrangements on the cover screen first, because the narrower panel makes the difference obvious.

Decorate the Home screen with layers and stickers
Home Up includes DIY screen-decoration tools, including sticker and layer-style elements. Use them sparingly if your goal is an iPhone-like restraint: one accent can establish a visual theme, while several overlapping elements compete with app labels and widgets.
Tune the return-to-Home animation
Home Up’s Home Gesture Animation changes the transition shown when you return to Home. It provides four preset styles and advanced controls for animation speed and vibration. Select the least distracting preset, then adjust speed until the transition feels responsive rather than theatrical. These are Samsung animations, not an identical copy of iPhone navigation, so judge them by comfort and consistency.
If Home Up is missing or a control is unavailable, check the Galaxy Store listing for your region and your installed One UI version. Do not assume a setting documented for One UI 7 exists unchanged on a Fold5, Fold6 or a later model.
Make the lock screen and Quick panel easier to reach
Rearrange lock-screen shortcuts
On Fold7, unlock the phone and press and hold the lock screen to edit it. You can rearrange the shortcut positions and adjust the lock-screen presentation. The exact controls can differ on other generations.
Choose actions that you need before opening the phone, such as the camera or flashlight. Avoid filling both shortcuts with functions you rarely use; an iPhone-like experience depends more on reliable access than on having many visible choices.
Edit Quick panel buttons
One UI allows Quick panel buttons to be added, removed and reordered. Keep the first group limited to controls you change often, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sound, flashlight, screen rotation and airplane mode. Move infrequent controls farther down rather than letting them dominate the first swipe.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchOn the Fold7, swiping from the top corner opens Quick settings while swiping from the other top area exposes notifications, according to Samsung’s support guidance. Practice the gesture on the cover display and the main display; the narrower cover panel can make the starting point feel less forgiving.
Use Edge panels as an optional shortcut shelf
Samsung’s Edge panels provide shortcuts from the screen edge. They can be useful for contacts, tools or app pairs, but a visible handle may make a minimalist setup feel busier. Keep the panel enabled only if it replaces repeated trips through the Home screen, and position its handle where it does not interfere with back gestures.
Set gestures without losing the Fold’s advantages
Use Samsung’s navigation settings to select the gesture arrangement that feels most natural to you, then practice it on both displays. Gesture placement and labels can vary with One UI version, so follow the options shown under your device’s display or navigation settings rather than a generic tutorial for another model.

Home Up’s animation controls can make returning Home feel smoother, but they do not change the underlying gesture system. If a gesture conflicts with an app’s edge swipe, reduce decorative animation first; changing visual effects will not repair a recognition conflict.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsKeep Samsung’s foldable gestures and multitasking available. A familiar Home screen should not force you to give up the functions that distinguish the Fold from a conventional phone.
Keep cover-screen and main-screen behavior working for you
Choose how apps continue when you open or close the Fold
Samsung documents behavior for continuing an app from the cover display to the main display and options for what happens when you close the device. Review those controls for the apps you use most. A reader who wants quick, phone-like interactions can keep short tasks on the cover screen and allow longer tasks to expand onto the main display.
Use Multi window and app pairs selectively
The large inner display supports Multi window and app pairs. For an iPhone-like simplicity, do not create pairs for every combination. Create them only for routines that benefit from the extra width, such as notes beside a browser or messaging beside a calendar. This preserves a clean Home screen while retaining the Fold’s productivity advantage.
Configure Flex mode around real tasks
Flex mode controls can change how compatible apps respond when the device is partly folded. Keep them for situations where the angle is useful, such as hands-free viewing or a stable camera position. They are Fold-specific conveniences, not features to remove in pursuit of visual similarity.
Consider a third-party launcher only after the built-in setup
A third-party launcher can change the Home-screen grid, icon presentation and app-drawer behavior. It cannot replace One UI’s operating system, Quick panel, lock-screen framework or all Fold-specific transitions. No particular launcher’s current compatibility, gesture reliability or support for every Fold generation is established here, so treat this route as an experiment rather than a guaranteed iPhone simulation.
- Record your current Home-screen arrangement and confirm you can switch back to the default launcher.
- Check the launcher’s current documentation for your exact Fold model, Android release and One UI version.
- Test the cover display, inner display, portrait and landscape orientations, app continuation and back/Home gestures.
- Verify that widgets resize correctly and that notifications, search and the app drawer remain reachable.
- Keep the launcher only if it improves the specific interaction you wanted without breaking foldable behavior.
If the launcher makes gestures unreliable or leaves blank spaces when you open the Fold, return to One UI and use Home Up for the visual changes instead.
Use a case for appearance, not software
A Galaxy Z Fold case can change the exterior color, texture and grip, and it can protect the hinge and displays when designed for your exact generation. It cannot make software behave like an iPhone. Choose a case after you have settled the software layout, because a thick front cover or altered edge can affect how comfortable Quick panel and back gestures feel.

The Home Up option is missing
Confirm that Good Lock and Home Up are installed from the Galaxy Store, then check your One UI version, device generation and regional availability. Samsung can change module support between releases. If the option is still absent, use the standard Home-screen settings rather than relying on an unsupported workaround.

The layout looks good inside but cramped on the cover display
Remove one row of widgets or move secondary apps to the app screen. Recheck the first page while holding the Fold closed. The cover display should support quick tasks without requiring constant expansion.
Gestures feel inconsistent after a launcher change
Test the default One UI launcher. If gestures work there, the third-party launcher is the likely compatibility limitation. Keep the default launcher or wait for a version that explicitly supports your device and software combination.
Notifications and Quick settings are hard to reach
Recheck the swipe starting area on each display and reorder Quick panel buttons so the controls you need are in the first group. An attractive Home screen is not a success if basic controls require extra searching.
An update changed the appearance
Review Settings > Software update and the current Good Lock module listing. Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout information notes that timing and availability vary by market, and module behavior can change with an update. Reapply only the settings that solve a real problem rather than rebuilding every decorative detail.

A practical final configuration
For most iPhone switchers, the most dependable setup is conservative:
- One uncluttered Home page with only daily apps.
- A small number of readable widgets.
- A consistent wallpaper and high-contrast theme.
- Lock-screen shortcuts for the camera and flashlight or your two most-used actions.
- A short, reordered Quick panel.
- Home Up only for the favorites row and a restrained gesture animation.
- Cover-screen continuation for quick tasks, with the main display reserved for reading, editing and multitasking.
- No third-party launcher unless it passes testing on both Fold displays.
This combination delivers the familiar visual calm many switchers want while retaining Multi window, app continuation, Flex mode and the extra space that make a Galaxy Z Fold different from an iPhone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install iOS on a Galaxy Z Fold?
No. You can customize One UI to resemble your preferred layout and visual style, but Samsung’s documented settings do not convert the Fold into an iPhone or install iOS.
Will these steps work identically on every Galaxy Z Fold?
No. Samsung’s Fold7 support instructions are model-specific, and Good Lock features vary by One UI version, device generation, Galaxy Store market and region. Check the labels on your own device.
Does a third-party launcher change the Quick panel and lock screen?
Usually it primarily changes the Home-screen launcher. It should be evaluated as a separate layer and tested for gesture, widget and two-screen compatibility.
