You can build a continuous YouTube stream around Marathi news clips, but first establish that you have the rights to every clip for live use and any archive. Credit, a short excerpt, or a news purpose alone does not clear rights. YouTube can interrupt a live stream after detecting third-party material, and Indian current-events exceptions are not a blanket permission to rebroadcast news segments around the clock.
Start with rights, not the streaming setup
Before scheduling a continuous stream, decide which of three content models you will use: original newsroom material, third-party clips covered by a license, or excerpts you believe may qualify for a legal exception. These are different rights situations. A clip being about news does not by itself establish permission to transmit it continuously.

Keep a clip-rights ledger
Make a record for every item before it enters the playlist. Keep the documentation available to the people who schedule and monitor the stream.

- Who reviewed the clip and when, so expired or disputed material can be removed from the schedule.
YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to hold the necessary rights for live content and any archive, and to meet applicable requirements in the stream territory. YouTube Help also says that live streams are scanned for third-party matches, including another live broadcast; a match can interrupt or terminate a stream. Understand the India-specific exception carefully
For an India-based operation, the Copyright Office describes Section 52 of the Copyright Act as including fair dealing for reporting current events and current affairs. Section 39 separately addresses fair-dealing excerpts of a performance or broadcast for reporting current events or for bona fide review, teaching, or research. The Copyright Office exceptions page was last updated 16 July 2026.
Those provisions do not establish that a particular 24/7 Marathi news-clips stream qualifies, or give a blanket right to relay whole news segments continuously. Whether a specific use falls within an exception depends on its circumstances. If you plan to rely on an exception rather than obtain permission, get advice from a lawyer familiar with the relevant Indian law and the territories where the stream will be available.
Do not substitute US “fair use” language for the Indian statutory analysis. YouTube’s Fair use on YouTube guidance describes US law, says courts assess fair use case by case, and notes that copyright exceptions differ by country. It also cautions that credit alone does not turn a non-transformative copy into fair use under US law; that statement is not a description of Indian law.

Make the stream meaningfully editorial
Even when you have permission to use footage, monetization is a separate question. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and evaluates reused clips or compilations as well as repetitive or mass-produced content. Permission to use a clip does not itself establish monetization eligibility.
Build a programme that adds original value instead of leaving a lightly edited clip loop unattended. For example, use original reporting, interviews, presenter narration, explainers, and graphics, and make editorial choices about context and sequencing. These steps do not replace rights clearance; they help distinguish an editorial programme from a stream that simply repeats other publishers’ material.
Prepare the continuous-stream workflow
1. Confirm YouTube live access
YouTube lists encoder streaming alongside mobile, webcam, and console streaming. An encoder is an available production method, not a requirement to use a particular brand or device. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days to stream. Confirm that access before investing time in a schedule or transmission setup.

2. Assemble only cleared material
Use the rights ledger to approve each clip before adding it to the programme. Keep original and licensed assets, permissions, and any required attribution with the schedule. If a license requires channel allowlisting, resolve that with the rights holder before transmission rather than waiting for a live match to disrupt the stream.

For a continuous production, choose a setup your team can operate and monitor. YouTube identifies encoder streaming as one option; the available evidence does not establish a preferred encoder, hardware model, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or other encoder setting for this particular use. Follow the current instructions shown in YouTube Studio and the documentation for your chosen encoder rather than guessing at settings.
4. Test continuity and archive choices
Run a supervised test with cleared material. Check that the programme order is correct, audio and video are present, the stream remains connected, a responsible person can see alerts, and the team knows how to respond to a dropped stream or rights claim. Test backup connectivity and restart behavior before relying on the setup unattended.

Do not promise a precise uninterrupted runtime or archive/restart behavior without checking YouTube’s current technical documentation: those limits and procedures are not established here. Decide in advance whether an archive is needed, and ensure your rights cover it.

- A live stream is interrupted or terminated: Check YouTube Studio for the notice and identify the matched material. Do not simply restart the same uncleared clip. Remove or replace it, verify the license and any allowlisting requirement, then follow YouTube’s current recovery instructions.
- A licensed clip triggers a match: Confirm that the permission covers this channel, territory, live use, and any archive. Ask the rights holder whether allowlisting is required and has been completed. A license alone may not prevent an interruption.
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Check verification and whether the channel has a live-stream restriction from the preceding 90 days. Resolve the access issue in YouTube before scheduling a continuous programme.
- The stream drops or does not resume: Check the connection, encoder status, and monitoring alerts; use the tested backup and restart procedure. Do not assume a particular maximum duration or archive behavior—confirm YouTube’s current instructions for the channel and setup.
- Monetization is rejected or limited: Review the channel’s originality and repetition, not just its clip permissions. Reused-content and repetitive-content rules are distinct from copyright clearance.
