You can turn bhajan recordings stored in Google Drive into a continuous YouTube live stream by making the files available to an encoder, then sending that encoder’s feed to YouTube Live Control Room. Drive does not broadcast files by itself: a computer running streaming software or a cloud service must play the program and keep the feed going. Before you start, confirm the channel can livestream and that you have the necessary rights for every recording and visual.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified, must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and age and eligibility rules.
- The bhajan audio or video files, plus any visuals you intend to show, accessible to the streaming setup.
- An encoder that can play the files in a playlist or loop and send a live feed to YouTube. YouTube explains the connection process in its encoder setup guide.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the selected stream quality, and a way to monitor the broadcast.
Keep your YouTube stream key private. It acts as a credential for sending a feed to the stream configuration; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to it. YouTube’s encoder guide explains how to reset a compromised key.

Make the Google Drive files available to the encoder
For a local-computer workflow, install and sign in to Google Drive for desktop on the computer that will run the encoder. Put the approved recordings and visual assets in a clearly named folder, then open and play the files on that computer before building the stream playlist.
Choose mirror or stream mode

Google describes these options in its Drive for desktop file-streaming and mirroring guidance and explains offline availability in its offline files help. If the computer does not have enough room for a mirrored library, an external SSD is one way to add local capacity; choose capacity based on the actual size of your files.

Set up a local 24/7 encoder stream
- Prepare a continuous program. In your encoder, add the bhajan files in the order you want them played. Configure its playlist or repeat control to continue after the last item. The exact control varies by encoder, so confirm that playback returns to the beginning without a stop, silent gap, or blank screen.
- Create or schedule the YouTube stream. Open YouTube Studio, go to Live Control Room, and create or schedule a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Connect the encoder. In the encoder’s streaming or broadcast settings, select a custom RTMP/streaming destination if required, then enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the corresponding fields. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe this connection. Do not share the key publicly.
- Start with a test. Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Check that the picture and sound are present and that the correct stream is selected before making it public. An unlisted or scheduled test can help you check playback from another device first.
- Run and monitor the program. Keep the computer, encoder, Drive access and network available for as long as this local stream is meant to run. Check stream health, audio/video quality and playlist transitions; YouTube recommends testing, leaving upload-bandwidth headroom and monitoring the stream in its live encoder settings guidance.
For a continuous devotional feed, test a complete playlist cycle or enough of it to verify transitions, volume consistency and that the encoder keeps playing. That is a practical check, not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.

Clear the rights and understand YouTube’s live checks
A bhajan’s devotional or traditional subject does not automatically clear a particular recording for rebroadcast. The recording, performance, arrangement, lyrics and visuals may have different rights owners. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the rights needed for the live content, including music licensing rights. Review the current YouTube Livestream terms and conditions and get permission or licenses where needed before broadcasting.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image, warn you, temporarily interrupt the feed or terminate it if the issue remains. Even when you have a license, you may need the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID to avoid an interruption. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast exceeds that duration, so do not assume the entire continuous program will appear as one complete archived video. If you need an archive, decide whether separate scheduled sessions better fit that goal and consult YouTube’s current guidance before launch. Troubleshooting common problems
