Choose how to keep the video feed running
YouTube receives a live feed from an encoder; the encoder or playout service is what supplies and repeats the recorded classes. The two practical workflows are a computer you manage or a cloud service you configure.

- Verify eligibility ahead of time. YouTube’s computer livestream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch day.
- Decide who can watch. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, select the stream’s privacy setting and other options, including DVR, deliberately. YouTube’s encoder stream settings guidance explains the available controls.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes the key as the stream’s password. Anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream, so do not publish it or share it casually. If it is exposed, replace it in the stream settings and update the encoder.
Set up a continuous stream from recorded classes
1. Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room.
- Create or select an encoder stream and set its title, description, audience and privacy options.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in the stream settings. Enter them in your encoder or cloud service; do not put the key in public notes or on-screen text.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe this workflow. The exact encoder fields and controls vary by software or service.

2. Supply the prerecorded classes
For a local setup, add the class videos to encoder software on a computer and configure it to play them in a continuous playlist or loop. Check that the next class starts as expected and that the audio does not disappear between files. The computer, encoder and network must remain available for the feed to continue.
For a cloud workflow, upload or select the recordings in the provider’s playout system, configure its playlist or loop, and enter the YouTube stream URL and key. Confirm how it handles interruptions and whether it resumes automatically; do not assume every service offers the same recovery behavior.

3. Test before going public
- Start with a private or unlisted test stream, if appropriate, and preview it in Live Control Room.
- Use a representative class segment: include movement, spoken instruction, music and transitions between recordings.
- Check that the picture is visible, the audio is intelligible, the video is not unexpectedly cropped, and the feed continues when one recording ends.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health indicators and monitor audio and video during the test and the live run. YouTube recommends setting up in advance and monitoring continuously in its livestreaming tips.
Check internet capacity and stream quality
The upload connection must carry the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate. YouTube recommends keeping total bitrate at or below 80% of available upload capacity—equivalent to 20% headroom—rather than saturating the connection. See YouTube’s network guidance. Test using the connection and location that will actually host the stream; a speed result from another network does not establish that the live feed will be stable.
Set the encoder’s output to match the source material and your tested connection. Do not raise resolution or bitrate just because the software permits it: higher output needs more upload capacity, while an upscale cannot restore detail absent from the recording. YouTube’s encoder help provides stream setup and settings guidance, but the material available here does not establish a single bitrate or resolution suitable for every yoga recording and connection.

- Use a stable connection and avoid other uploads that compete for bandwidth during a locally hosted stream.
- Check both the instructor’s quiet speech and any background music; levels that sound fine on a laptop speaker may be hard to understand for viewers.
- Preview the frame for text, posture and mat edges so the class remains usable on the intended screen sizes.
Clear rights for the classes, music and performances
Before streaming, confirm that your permissions cover the actual uses: broadcasting the recorded class live, making it available to the public, and any archive or replay. Check the instructor’s agreement, permissions for other performers, the music composition and sound recording, and any third-party visuals. Owning a video file does not by itself establish rights to everything embedded in it.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party material; it may show a placeholder and warning, then interrupt or terminate the stream if the match continues. A licensed track can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

For India, the Copyright Office’s Copyright Act text includes communication to the public and provisions concerning performers’ rights. The relevant permissions depend on the material and agreements involved; check the actual licenses and, where needed, obtain legal advice rather than assuming a class recording clears its music or every performer.
Plan for long-stream archives and DVR
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. A continuous 24/7 broadcast is therefore not a dependable way to preserve a complete, rewindable library of classes.

If viewers need reliable on-demand access, publish individual class recordings separately as videos, with their own titles and descriptions, instead of relying on the long live stream’s archive.
