1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteYou can run a continuous Tamil Carnatic music YouTube Live feed with FFmpeg by clearing the rights to every recording, preparing a program, creating a live event in YouTube Studio, and sending the event’s stream URL and key from an always-on computer or server. FFmpeg can loop a prepared file, but it does not provide automatic recovery, music rights, or a guarantee of a 24-hour replay. Here is the complete setup, including those limits.
1. Clear the rights to recordings and visuals
Before configuring an encoder, confirm that you have permission for each sound recording and for all artwork, video, lyrics, or other material included in the stream. A traditional composition does not automatically make a modern performance or master recording free to rebroadcast. Get permission that covers the intended platforms, territories, duration, and monetization, if applicable. Rights depend on the specific works and recordings you select.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder, and persistent content can interrupt or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube warns that licensed material can still trigger an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.
- Keep a record of each recording, performer, owner or licensor, license scope, expiry date if any, and allowlist confirmation.
- Check rights for the visual as well as the music, including any album art or lyrics displayed on screen.
- Do not treat a successful test stream as evidence that a recording is cleared.
2. Prepare a program to loop
For a first test, use a short, fully cleared program and inspect its start, end, audio level, gaps, transitions, and video format. Consistent dimensions and frame rate simplify encoding. A single prepared video file containing both audio and video is the simplest case for the command below.
#1 Best Overall
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 to repeat an input indefinitely. It repeats an input; it is not a music-radio scheduler. A rotation across multiple tracks, random scheduling, crossfades, or track metadata needs a separate playlist or playout design. Consult the FFmpeg command-line documentation for the options supported by your installed build.
3. Create the live event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and choose Create → Go Live.
- Create a stream or schedule one, then copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room.
- Enter the URL as the encoder server and the key in its stream-key field. Treat the key like a password: do not expose it in a public script, screenshot, or log, and regenerate it if exposed.
- Send encoder data, inspect the Live Control Room preview, and start the event as required by the workflow you selected.
YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable and verify live access before the planned launch. Its encoder setup guide describes the Studio workflow. The Google Developers Live Streaming API guide, updated September 14, 2026, also describes continuous-feed configurations, but using the API is not necessary for an ordinary Studio setup. The guide distinguishes a broadcast (the YouTube video) from a stream (the encoder connection); one stream can be bound to multiple broadcasts.

4. Configure FFmpeg for YouTube ingest
Start with a reliable profile
YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations specify RTMP or RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no longer than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS to encrypt the connection in transit.

For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps. A 1080p30 H.264 profile is a reasonable initial choice for a static-image or low-motion music feed if the computer and upload connection can sustain it; that is a starting-point inference, not a tested configuration for your channel. Use YouTube’s bitrate table to select a lower resolution and bitrate if needed, and test the actual connection rather than treating any bitrate as a stability guarantee. YouTube’s guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

Example for one prepared video file
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "program.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30
-b:v 5M -maxrate 5M -bufsize 10M -g 60
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This is an illustrative starting command, not an official YouTube recipe or a tested command. Replace the ingest URL and key with the exact values shown in Studio. The input must contain the intended video and audio streams for this simple example. If it is audio-only, create a video stream and map the audio deliberately. Check that your FFmpeg build includes the selected encoder and test the full command with representative material before relying on it. The appropriate input, mapping, encoding, and output options depend on the files and FFmpeg build you use.
5. Validate the preview and monitor stream health
- Start FFmpeg and confirm that YouTube receives the feed in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview for the expected image and sound, and inspect the stream-health panel and YouTube messages.
- Listen for clipping, silence, or gaps; watch for frozen video, dropped frames, and unstable ingest.
- Run a representative test long enough to expose load or network problems before scheduling a continuous broadcast.
Choose a quality your upload connection can sustain; YouTube recommends an upload speed test and testing with representative audio and video. A correct command alone does not show that the source file, encoder load, or route to YouTube is healthy.

Make the process recoverable
-stream_loop -1 keeps FFmpeg reading the input repeatedly; it does not restart FFmpeg after a crash or repair a lost power or network connection. Failure causes can include host overload, a damaged media file, a changed stream key, an internet outage, or a YouTube-side interruption. Test the host under sustained load and arrange process supervision, log rotation, alerts, and a restart procedure appropriate to its operating system. Keep the stream key out of shared logs. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends monitoring stream health.

When choosing a local PC, mini PC, or remote server, compare continuous availability and recovery, sustained encoding capability at your selected settings, power or hosting and bandwidth costs, upload reliability to YouTube, monitoring and restart options, and security for the key and media. There is no universal hardware requirement or cost established here; it depends on the host, settings, connection, and operating arrangement.

Do not assume a 24/7 feed becomes a 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous feed should therefore have a separate archive plan: local capture, scheduled shorter broadcasts, or no full replay. The API’s 24/7 feed use case does not change the archive guidance. Check current Studio behavior before building an archive workflow around a particular stream length.
Permission to stream is not monetization approval
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and call for original, authentic content. Repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible; low-variation and template-like content with little added value are examples identified in the policy. Having permission to transmit recordings does not by itself resolve a separate reused-content or originality review.
YouTube’s YouTube Partner Program eligibility page lists, for full ad-revenue eligibility, 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the preceding 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, alongside other requirements and channel review. Eligibility rules can change, so check the current page. Do not assume that running a 24/7 stream or accumulating watch time guarantees monetization.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the YouTube music feed without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option for uploaded videos: upload your program, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It keeps the stream running from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; monthly billing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube, not from a camera, and your recording rights and YouTube monetization eligibility still need to be handled separately. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
