To run a 24/7 exam-preparation stream on YouTube, make sure the channel is eligible to livestream, prepare a continuous program, send it through a webcam or encoder at a bitrate your upload connection can sustain, and monitor it with a recovery plan. For an uninterrupted prerecorded-video stream without leaving a computer running, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is another option. Plan separately for copyright and replay: YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
How do you set up a 24/7 exam-preparation stream on YouTube in India?
There are two practical ways to produce the feed: present live with a computer and webcam, or use an encoder for a planned layout with scheduled media and multiple inputs. The encoder route generally suits an all-day study schedule better, but neither route is automatically reliable; connection quality, power, configuration, supervision, and recovery all matter.
YouTube Help’s current guidance, accessed on October 3, 2026, says a channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and must be operated by someone at least 16 years old to livestream. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming routes; a persistent study program is usually best planned around a computer and encoder.
Choose the production approach
| Setup | What it suits | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Computer and webcam | A teacher presenting directly to camera with a microphone | Simpler to set up, but less suited to a persistent schedule with several sources or planned media |
| Encoder-based setup | A fixed study layout, screen content, overlays, camera, microphone, or a planned program | Requires more configuration and end-to-end testing |
YouTube documents both approaches. The table describes their practical fit; it is not a claim that one is more reliable. Test the actual computer, encoder, and connection you intend to use.

Design a useful study program
Before opening the stream, decide what viewers will see and hear throughout the day. A clear subject or topic label, visible timetable, consistent break markers, and a chat moderation plan help viewers understand the program. These are production choices, not YouTube requirements. Use original lessons or materials you are authorized to show and play.
Set the encoder and upload connection
Choose a resolution and bitrate that your actual upload connection can sustain for the whole session. YouTube Help says, “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” It recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate; this is a margin, not a guarantee against drops. Check outbound upload capacity rather than relying on download-speed results, and assess local power and internet conditions at the place where the stream will run.

YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations
The figures below are YouTube’s published configuration recommendations current when accessed on October 3, 2026, not independent performance tests. The minimum figures are not a promise that a particular connection will hold a stream steadily.
| Resolution and frame rate | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
YouTube also recommends H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS, its secure streaming protocol. Use the bitrate table as a starting point, leave the recommended headroom, and test the selected settings on the intended connection. A modest resolution that stays stable is more useful for an all-day study stream than a higher setting that repeatedly disconnects. YouTube transcodes incoming streams for playback formats, but that does not remove the need for an upload connection capable of sending the chosen feed.

Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Confirm livestream eligibility. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. Confirm the person operating the channel is at least 16.
- Create the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Set up the event and copy its stream key and server URL as directed by YouTube’s encoder workflow.
- Enter the connection details in the encoder. Add the server URL and stream key, then select the video settings you tested: H.264, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, RTMPS, and a bitrate and resolution suited to the upload connection.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password. Do not show it in a screen capture, share it publicly, or leave it visible in the program. If it is exposed, replace or reset it using the controls in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Start the encoder feed and inspect the preview. Before making the program public, verify that the expected picture and audio arrive and that YouTube reports a healthy incoming feed.
- Start the event only after the preview is ready. Confirm that the public playback works on a separate device or connection, not just in the encoder preview.
Test, supervise, and plan for interruption
YouTube advises creators to test streams and check preview, accessibility, audio and video quality, and failover before relying on a setup. Run a complete rehearsal using the same encoder, media, upload connection, and location you plan to use. Check that audio is audible, overlays are readable, playback works on another device, and a local recording is being saved if you need a copy.
A 24/7 schedule also needs an operator plan. Decide who will notice a failed feed, check whether the issue is the encoder, connection, or YouTube event, and restart or switch to a backup when needed. Continuous supervision and recovery planning are operational recommendations based on YouTube’s advice to monitor stream quality; YouTube’s guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

- Keep the encoder and any required computer connected to dependable power appropriate for the location.
- Know how to restore the feed if the encoder stops or the upload connection fails.
- Check the YouTube preview and public playback after reconnecting; an encoder showing output does not by itself confirm that viewers can watch.
- For material that must be preserved, make a local recording and verify that it is being written successfully.
Understand the 12-hour replay and DVR limitation
YouTube Help’s live-stream archive guidance, accessed on October 3, 2026, states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Its DVR guidance separately warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise viewers that one uninterrupted 24-hour event will have a complete YouTube replay or full rewind.
If replay matters, record the program locally and verify the recording. Dividing a daily schedule into separate sessions may make a timetable easier to follow, but YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish that splitting sessions guarantees archive behavior for every event.

Check copyright and content rights before going live
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If copyrighted material remains in the stream, YouTube may interrupt or terminate it. That includes audible music and footage as well as material shown in a lesson. Use original content or secure rights that cover the intended use and territory.
A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add the channel to an allowlist. Confirm that arrangement with the rights holder before relying on licensed material in a continuous stream. YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to have the necessary rights and follow applicable laws and regulations in the territory where the stream is available. The guidance cited here does not establish the India-specific broadcast, education, tax, or other legal obligations for this particular production, so check requirements relevant to your own situation rather than assuming a blanket exemption.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the program is made from uploaded recordings rather than a live camera, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It does not broadcast a live camera feed.
