Clean the main brushes and washable filter every two weeks, the side brush monthly, and mop cloths whenever they are dirty. Replace wear parts by condition and the manual’s ranges rather than waiting for a fixed calendar date.
Dock automation reduces daily work but does not make the system maintenance-free. Your routine depends on whether the robot has the standard multifunctional dock or the separate refill-and-drainage configuration. Identify that hardware first, then use the matching tank, dust-bag and water-handling instructions below.

Roborock Saros 10R maintenance schedule at a glance
The intervals below are manufacturer instructions from the Saros 10R manual, not independent measurements of real-world wear. Heavy shedding, grit, long hair, pets, construction dust and frequent mopping can justify cleaning sooner. Replace a part immediately if it is visibly damaged or abnormally worn, even when its nominal interval has not elapsed.
| Component | Clean or inspect | Replacement guidance | Important handling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main brushes | Every 2 weeks | Every 6–12 months, or sooner if worn | Wipe with a wet cloth, air-dry away from direct sunlight; no corrosive cleaner or disinfectant |
| Side brush | Monthly | Every 3–6 months, or sooner if worn | Remove its screw, clean, align the center groove with the raised position, and retighten |
| Mop cloths | Before use whenever dirty | Every 1–3 months | Remove from mounts, clean, air-dry, and reattach flat |
| Washable filter | Every 2 weeks | Not stated as a fixed interval; replace when damaged or no longer serviceable | Rinse repeatedly, tap out dirt, and dry for at least 24 hours |
| Dustbin | Whenever it is dirty or before residue hardens | Not stated | Use clean water only; dry the bin and filter fully before reinstalling |
| Sensors and charging contacts | Inspect regularly and clean when dusty or streaked | Not stated | Use a soft, dry cloth |
| Dirty-water tank | When emptied or visibly soiled | Not stated | Rinse with clean water; use cold water to avoid deformation; wipe exterior with a soft, dry cloth |
| Disposable dust bag | Check as it fills | Replace as required | The handle seals the bag when removed; install a bag before closing the dust-container cover |
Which Saros 10R dock do you have?
Roborock documents more than one dock arrangement for this model family. The standard multifunctional dock is described as providing mop washing, intelligent dirt detection, automatic onboard-water refilling, detergent dispensing, dustbin emptying and warm-air mop drying. A separate Saros 10R refill-and-drainage variant is plumbed to refill clean water and empty used water automatically.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
These features change how often you handle tanks, but they do not eliminate cleaning the dock, robot contacts, mop cloths, brushes, filter or dust bag. Do not pour or connect anything that your particular dock does not support. Use the instructions supplied with the exact regional model and dock hardware.
| Dock configuration | What automation can handle | What you still need to maintain |
|---|---|---|
| Standard multifunctional dock | Mop washing, dirt detection, onboard-water refilling, detergent dispensing, dust emptying and warm-air drying, as described by Roborock support | Dock surfaces, dirty-water tank, clean-water system, dust bag, contacts and the robot’s removable parts |
| Refill-and-drainage variant | Automatic clean-water refill and used-water drainage through the installed plumbing | Plumbing connections, filters or screens supplied for that installation, dock surfaces, contacts and all robot parts |
How do I clean the Roborock Saros 10R dock?
1. Pause the robot and make the dock safe
- Stop cleaning and let any active washing, emptying or drying cycle finish, if practical.
- Remove the robot from the dock before wiping areas that could start a charge, wash or empty cycle.
- Keep water away from electrical openings. Use a dampened cloth only where the manual allows rinsing of a removable tank; wipe the dock body with a soft cloth and leave it dry.
2. Empty and rinse the dirty-water tank
- Remove the dirty-water tank and empty it completely.
- Rinse the tank with clean, cold water. The manual cautions that cold water helps avoid deformation.
- Wipe water marks on the outside with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check the lid, seal and openings for hair or sludge, then reinstall the tank securely.
Do not substitute hot water or cleaning chemicals for the specified rinse. A tank that is not seated correctly can prevent washing or produce a leak warning.
3. Manage the disposable dust bag correctly
- Open the dust container and remove the full bag using its handle. The handle seals the bag as it is withdrawn.
- Dispose of the sealed bag and insert a compatible replacement.
- Fit the bag before replacing the dust-container cover. Without a bag, automatic emptying can run into an open container; the manual says to install one or disable auto-emptying in the app.
- Close the cover fully and check that no edge of the bag is trapped in the seal.
Bag capacity depends on debris volume, so use the fill level and emptying performance as the trigger rather than a guessed number of days. Compatibility matters: choose a dust bag specified for the Saros 10R dock variant you own.

4. Wipe the dock and charging area
Use a soft, dry cloth around the dock’s charging contacts and the robot’s matching contacts. Remove dust, mop residue and oxidation without abrasive pads or liquid sprayed directly onto the contacts. Keep the approach ramp and washing area free of hair and grit so the robot can dock squarely.

5. Refill or drain according to the dock design
For a tank-based multifunctional dock, refill and empty the reservoirs following the labels and the supplied manual. For a refill-and-drainage installation, inspect the water inlet and drain connections for kinks, looseness or standing water instead of trying to add water to a tank that the installation does not use. If the app reports a water or drainage error, stop repeated cycles and correct the plumbing or tank seating first.
How do I clean Saros 10R mop cloths?
Roborock’s manual states: “A dirty mop cloth will affect the mopping performance. Clean it before use.” Treat that as a pre-run check, not merely a monthly task.
- Remove each mop cloth from its mount. Do not pull against the mount while it is still attached to the robot.
- Clean the cloth with water until grit and residue are removed. Use only a method compatible with the cloth instructions supplied for your unit.
- Air-dry the cloths completely. Do not reinstall damp cloths, store them wet or leave them folded while moisture remains trapped.
- Attach each cloth flat on its mount, with no curled edge or bunched section.
- Inspect the fabric before a run. Replace cloths in the manual’s 1–3 month range, or earlier if they remain stained, frayed, thin or unable to lie flat.
The dock may wash and warm-air-dry cloths automatically, but automation does not correct a cloth that is physically worn or mounted crookedly. If mopping becomes streaky after washing, remove the cloths, clean them manually and verify that they are flat and fully dry.

Cleaning every two weeks
- Turn the robot over on a protected surface.
- Open the main-brush cover and lift out the brush assembly.
- Remove hair, thread and packed debris from the brush and its end caps. Use the supplied tool if your unit includes one, taking care not to cut the brush or damage a bearing.
- Wipe the main brushes with a wet cloth when needed.
- Air-dry them away from direct sunlight. Do not reinstall them while wet.
- Clean the brush channel and cover before putting the assembly back.
- When reinstalling the cover, seat all four teeth in their slots and press until it clicks.
The manual explicitly says not to use corrosive cleaning fluid or disinfectant on the main brushes. Those products can attack the brush material, seals or nearby plastics. If bristles are bent, the brush is split, an end cap is damaged or abnormal wear appears, replace it rather than waiting for six months.

How do I clean and replace the side brush?
Monthly cleaning
- Place the robot upside down and locate the side-brush screw.
- Unscrew it and lift the side brush away.
- Clear hair and debris from the bristles, hub and screw area.
- Align the brush’s central groove with the raised position on the robot.
- Replace the screw and tighten it securely without forcing the threads.
Clean the side brush monthly and plan on replacement every 3–6 months. Replace sooner if bristles are missing, permanently splayed, cracked or striking the floor unevenly. A brush that is installed without its groove aligned can wobble, scrape or fail to sweep along edges.
How do I clean the washable filter and dustbin?
Filter procedure
- Open the dustbin’s filter cover and remove the washable filter.
- Rinse it repeatedly with clean water to loosen trapped dust.
- Tap the filter gently to help remove dirt. Do not rub its surface with your hands, a brush or a hard object; the manual warns against that contact.
- Place it where air can circulate and let it dry for at least 24 hours.
- Reinstall it only when it is thoroughly dry and seated correctly in the cover.
Dustbin procedure
- Empty loose debris from the dustbin.
- Rinse the bin with clean water only. Roborock’s instruction is: “To prevent blockage, only use clean water without any cleaning liquid.”
- Drain the bin and allow it to dry thoroughly, separately from the filter if necessary.
- Confirm that both the dustbin and filter are fully dry before reinstalling them in the robot.
Do not shorten the 24-hour filter drying period simply because the outside feels dry. Residual moisture can clump dust, restrict airflow and contribute to odor or a blockage warning. If the filter media is torn, deformed or cannot be cleaned, install a compatible replacement.
How do I clean the Saros 10R sensors and charging contacts?
Use a soft, dry cloth and light pressure. The manual identifies the front navigation sensor, wall sensor, communication sensor, rear navigation sensor, cliff sensors and carpet sensor; the retrieved manual version also identifies an optical-flow sensor. Wipe each exposed sensor window until dust, fingerprints and dried splash marks are gone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Power or pause the robot and turn it only as far as needed to reach each sensor safely.
- Wipe the front and rear navigation areas, wall sensor and communication sensor.
- Clean every cliff-sensor window underneath the robot. These sensors are especially important near stairs and ledges.
- Wipe the carpet and optical-flow sensor areas listed for your manual version.
- Use another section of the dry cloth for the robot’s charging contacts, then clean the matching contacts on the dock.
- Return the robot to the dock and confirm that it recognizes charging.
Do not spray cleaner, use a wet rag or scrape sensor windows with a hard object. If navigation becomes erratic after cleaning, check that no film, tape, hair or misaligned component remains over a sensor and that the robot is docking squarely.

|---|---|---|
| Main brushes | 6–12 months | Cracks, missing bristles, damaged end caps, persistent noise or abnormal wear |
| Side brush | 3–6 months | Splayed or missing bristles, wobble, scraping or a loose hub |
| Mop cloths | 1–3 months | Fraying, thinning, odor that remains after washing, staining or inability to lie flat |
| Disposable dust bag | As required | Full indicator, reduced emptying performance, dust escaping around the bag or a damaged seal |
| Filter | Not stated as a fixed interval | Torn or deformed media, persistent blockage after cleaning, or failure to dry and clean properly |
Buy parts that explicitly list Saros 10R compatibility and match the dock configuration where relevant. A similarly shaped brush, mop pad or bag from another model may not seal, fit the drive hub or report correctly in the dock.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Manual cleaning versus dock automation
| Maintenance question | Manual work remains | What automation can reduce |
|---|---|---|
| How often? | Brushes, filter, cloths, sensors and contacts still need the intervals and inspections in the manual. | Frequent hand washing of cloths and some routine water handling on supported docks. |
| Who performs it? | You remove parts, rinse them, dry them and check wear. | The dock can wash cloths, refill water, dispense detergent, empty dust and warm-air-dry mops when those functions are present. |
| Drying | Filter drying requires at least 24 hours; cloths and brushes must air-dry fully after manual cleaning. | Warm-air mop drying helps the dock-managed wash cycle but does not dry a separately washed filter or damaged cloth. |
| Compatibility | Procedures depend on the exact robot and dock variant. | Refill-and-drainage plumbing changes tank handling but not robot-part maintenance. |
A practical weekly and monthly routine
After a dirty or high-debris run
- Check the mop cloths before the next run and remove hair from the brush area.
- Look at the dock’s dirty-water level and dust-bag fill state.
- Wipe visible residue from the dock approach and charging contacts with a dry cloth.
Every two weeks
- Clean the main brushes.
- Clean the washable filter and start its 24-hour drying period.
- Rinse and dry the dustbin if it is dirty.
- Inspect sensors, cliff windows and charging contacts.
Monthly
- Remove and clean the side brush, then reinstall it with the groove aligned.
- Rinse the dirty-water tank and wipe its exterior dry.
- Inspect mop cloth condition and replace it if it no longer cleans or mounts flat.
At replacement time
- Install compatible main brushes, side brushes, mop cloths or dust bags.
- Run a short cleaning or docking cycle and check for wobble, scraping, leaks, charging errors or incomplete emptying.
Troubleshooting problems caused by maintenance
The robot says the filter or dustbin is blocked
Remove the filter and dustbin, clear compacted debris, rinse with clean water, and let both parts dry fully. A filter that was reinstalled damp should be removed and dried for at least 24 hours before another run. Check that the filter cover is closed and the filter is seated evenly.
Mopping is weak, streaky or leaves an odor
Remove the mop cloths from their mounts, wash them, air-dry them and attach them flat. Check the dock’s clean- and dirty-water handling for the correct tank or plumbing configuration. Replace cloths that are worn or remain odorous after cleaning.

The robot misses edges, bumps objects or reports a cliff error
Wipe the wall, navigation, cliff, carpet and optical-flow sensor areas listed for your model with a soft, dry cloth. Also clean the dock and robot charging contacts. Remove any tape, residue or hair covering a sensor window. If the warning persists, consult the supplied manual for your regional model rather than applying liquid cleaner.
The dock will not empty dust or reports a bag error
Check that a compatible disposable bag is installed, its handle seal is properly positioned and the dust-container cover is fully closed. If you intentionally removed the bag, disable auto-emptying in the app until a replacement is fitted.
Safe cleaning rules to keep beside the dock
- Use clean water for the dustbin and the dirty-water tank; do not add cleaning liquid where the manual prohibits it.
- Never use corrosive cleaning fluid or disinfectant on the main brushes.
- Use a soft, dry cloth for sensors and charging contacts.
- Let washable parts dry completely; the filter requires at least 24 hours.
- Keep cold water for dirty-water-tank rinsing to reduce deformation risk.
- Match every replacement part and every dock procedure to the exact Saros 10R and dock variant.
- Follow the supplied regional manual if its labels or intervals differ from the instructions summarized here.
The Bottom Line
Maintain the Saros 10R by combining its dock’s automated washing, refilling, drying and emptying functions with a fixed hands-on routine: brushes and filter every two weeks, side brush monthly, mop cloths whenever dirty, and complete drying before anything goes back into the robot. Correct part fit, clean sensors and contacts, and the right dock-specific tank or plumbing procedure prevent most avoidable maintenance problems.
