Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Maintain a robot lawn mower by following its model-specific manual for blade intervals, permitted cleaning methods, sensor care, battery charging and winter storage. As a practical routine, inspect the mower regularly, remove grass from the underside and wheels, keep camera and sensor lenses clean, check charging contacts, and replace damaged or worn blades with compatible parts. Before a seasonal shutdown, clean and dry the mower, then store it exactly as the manufacturer specifies in a dry, frost-free place.
Start with the exact model manual
Robot mowers differ in blade mounts, wheel drives, collision sensors, cameras, positioning antennas, batteries and water resistance. A cleaning step that is acceptable for one model can damage another. Locate the operator manual or support page for your exact model before using water, removing a battery, changing the mower’s orientation, lubricating a part or storing the charging station.

- Record the exact model and hardware revision shown on the mower, app or manual.
- Check the manufacturer’s maintenance screen or app for blade-life and service prompts.
- Confirm which panels may be opened by the owner and which work requires an authorized technician.
- Keep the manual available when ordering blades, fasteners, batteries or charging-station parts.
Disconnect the mower from its charger, switch it off and follow the manual’s lifting procedure before working underneath it. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling blades. Never inspect a blade while the cutting system can start remotely or on a schedule.
A practical maintenance schedule
No single cross-brand interval is established for every robot mower. Use the schedule below as a visual-check routine, then replace it with the intervals in your own manual or app.

| When | Checks and actions | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| After mowing in heavy or wet growth | Look for packed grass or mud around the blade guard, underside and wheel treads. Remove debris before it hardens. | Build-up can restrict blade movement, wheel traction or docking. |
| Regularly during the cutting season | Inspect blade edges, blade fasteners, wheel movement, sensor lenses and charging contacts. | Early wear or contamination is easier to correct than a fault during an unattended run. |
| When the app or manual indicates | Replace blades or other wear parts with the specified compatible parts. | Intervals and part designs are model-specific. |
| Before a long seasonal shutdown | Clean, dry and store the mower and charging equipment according to the winter procedure for that model. | Moisture, frost and an incorrect battery state can cause storage damage. |
| At spring start-up | Inspect for corrosion, cable damage, blocked wheels, clean sensors and secure blade hardware before enabling a schedule. | Storage can expose faults that were not visible when the mower was parked. |
Inspecting and replacing blades
When blades need attention
Inspect blades whenever cut quality worsens, the mower becomes unusually noisy or vibration increases, and at the interval specified by the manufacturer. Replace a blade if it is bent, cracked, heavily nicked, visibly thin, loose or corroded. A sharp-looking edge is not enough: a damaged blade or fastener can be unsafe even if the lawn still appears trimmed.
As a model-specific example, Segway Navimow’s H2 Series support information says, “Typically, the blades should be replaced after 80 hours of use.” The same approximately 80-hour recommendation appears for its Terranox series, and the app’s parts-maintenance area can provide replacement suggestions. That figure applies to those series; it is not a universal interval for all robot mowers. See the Navimow H2 Series support page and Navimow Terranox support page.
Husqvarna’s operator manual separately instructs owners to inspect the mower and replace worn parts. Use the Husqvarna operator manual for that manufacturer’s procedure rather than transferring the 80-hour figure to a Husqvarna model or any other brand.

Safe replacement procedure
- Park the mower on a stable surface, cancel its schedule, switch it off and disconnect it from the charging station.
- Turn or support the mower only as the manual permits. Keep the cutting deck away from your hands and use gloves.
- Photograph the blade layout before removing anything. Some decks use several small pivoting blades and specific screw or washer arrangements.
- Remove each fastener with the specified tool. Do not reuse a screw, washer or locking part if the manual calls for a new one.
- Install only the blade type and hardware listed for the exact model. Confirm that every blade pivots freely and that no packaging or debris remains under the deck.
- Tighten to the manual’s instruction, return the mower to its normal orientation and run the manufacturer’s post-maintenance check before resuming automatic mowing.
Do not sharpen or reshape a blade unless the manufacturer explicitly provides that procedure. An altered mass or profile can create vibration and may invalidate the safety design.

Cleaning the underside and wheels
Remove debris before it becomes a blockage
Grass, wet soil and leaves collect in the blade guard, around the cutting disk and inside wheel treads. Navimow’s cleaning guidance recommends checking the blade guard and removing accumulated mud, grass and other debris with a dry brush or scraper. It also advises checking each wheel and removing dirt if a wheel is blocked. Treat those steps as an example for that product family, not as a universal water or tool instruction.
- Power down and disconnect the mower as described above.
- Brush loose grass from the deck, blade guard, wheel hubs and wheel treads. Use a scraper carefully on hardened material without prying against sensor windows, seals or cables.
- Rotate each drive wheel by hand if the manual permits. It should move without a packed clump or grinding resistance. Do not force a wheel that is seized.
- Check that the cutting disk and blade pivots are free of string, wire, stones and roots. Remove entangled material with a tool, never with bare fingers.
- Wipe remaining residue with a slightly damp cloth only if the manual allows moisture in that area, then dry the mower completely before charging.
Water and pressure-washer precautions
Water resistance is not identical across models or components. The Navimow cleaning guide describes hose rinsing for certain parts, while its winterization checklist says pressure washers and running water are taboo. Because those instructions address different procedures and components, do not resolve the difference by assuming that every mower may be hosed down.
Follow the exact manual. Unless it expressly permits rinsing, keep water away from openings, bearings, charging contacts, electronics, battery compartments and sensor assemblies. Never use a pressure washer on a robot mower. If a manual allows water on a particular removable part, keep the spray at the stated pressure and distance, prevent water from entering the mower body, and allow the part to dry before reassembly.

Cleaning cameras and other sensors
Dirty lenses can impair obstacle detection, navigation or docking even when the cutting system is working. Identify every sensor on your model: camera lenses, proximity windows, lift or tilt sensors, rain sensors, positioning antennas and charging contacts may have different cleaning instructions.

- Switch the mower off and move it away from the charging station.
- Blow or brush loose dust away from each lens and sensor window. Do not use compressed air at a pressure that can drive grit past a seal.
- Gently wipe a camera lens with a clean, soft, damp cloth when the manual permits it. Navimow’s cleaning guide specifically recommends a gentle damp-cloth wipe for its camera lens.
- Use a separate dry section of the cloth to remove moisture and check for streaks, scratches or clouding.
- Clean charging-port contacts as directed, removing oxidation or dirt without scraping away protective plating. Ensure the contacts are dry before docking.
Do not apply household glass cleaner, solvent, abrasive pad or lubricant to a lens unless the manufacturer names it. Lubricants can attract grit and contaminate optical surfaces. If a sensor remains fogged, cracked or misaligned after cleaning, stop automatic mowing and use the model’s service procedure.
Charging station, contacts and boundary equipment
A clean mower cannot dock reliably against a dirty station. Wipe the charging-station surface and remove grass, mud and leaves from the approach path. Inspect the mower and station contacts for dirt, corrosion, looseness or heat discoloration. The Navimow cleaning guidance specifically calls for checking charging-port contacts and cleaning the station surface so the mower can dock.
- Keep the station level and firmly mounted as specified by its installation instructions.
- Check that no vegetation, standing water or snow blocks the docking approach.
- Inspect exposed cables for cuts, crushed sections, rodent damage or pulled connectors.
- Do not bury, splice or reroute a boundary or guide cable contrary to the installation manual.
- After cleaning, confirm that the mower reports charging and that the station indicator shows its normal state.
Do not spray the station, power supply or connectors unless the manual explicitly permits it. Disconnect mains power before cleaning any powered equipment, and follow the electrical-safety instructions supplied with the station.
Choosing the winter break
There is no reliable universal calendar date for stopping a robot mower. Navimow’s seasonal guidance bases the decision on local temperature, lawn growth and soil conditions. Its thresholds and regional timing are written for European conditions, so do not apply them unchanged to another climate.

- Stop when grass has stopped growing for the season in your location, rather than when a particular date arrives.
- Avoid mowing on frozen or unsuitable wet ground; operating then can damage turf and increase debris on the mower.
- Allow extra time for a final cleaning and a completely dry mower before frost is expected.
- In mild climates where grass continues growing, follow the model’s wet-weather and temperature limits instead of storing solely because the calendar says winter.
For local conditions, use the Navimow winter-break timing guide as a regional example, then apply your own mower’s manual and weather limits.

Clean and dry the mower
- End the mowing schedule and switch the mower off.
- Disconnect it from the station and remove grass, mud and debris from the blade guard, underside, wheels and sensor windows using the approved tools.
- Clean the charging contacts and station surface. If the manual permits cleaning with water on a particular part, dry that part thoroughly.
- Inspect blades, wheels, seals, cables and the housing for damage. Repair or replace parts before storage if the manual requires it.
- Leave the mower open to air-dry in a protected place until no moisture remains around contacts, seams or sensor windows.
Follow the battery and orientation instructions
Battery charge level, whether the battery should be removed, and whether the power supply and charging station should be brought indoors are model-specific. Check the manual before choosing a charge percentage or disconnecting a battery. Do not assume that a lithium battery should be stored full, empty or removed; the correct state depends on the mower’s design and manufacturer instructions.
Husqvarna’s cited operator manual says to store the mower upright on its wheels in a dry, frost-free environment. That is a Husqvarna instruction, not a rule for every model. Other mowers may specify a different orientation or a particular storage stand. Follow the exact requirement for your machine.

What to do with the charging station
Some systems leave the station and power supply outside; others require indoor storage or weather protection. The answer depends on the station’s rating, cable installation and the manufacturer’s winter procedure. Before unplugging anything, photograph connector positions and label cables so spring reinstallation is unambiguous. Protect removed cables from kinks, moisture and rodents, and never energize a damaged power supply.
Spring restart checklist
- Bring the mower to room temperature before charging if it was stored in a cold location, following the battery instructions.
- Inspect the housing, wheels, blade fasteners, cables, charging contacts and sensor windows for corrosion, cracks or animal damage.
- Install or reconnect the battery and charging station exactly as the manual shows.
- Confirm that the station is level, the boundary or guide system is intact and the mower reports normal charging.
- Replace blades that are bent, corroded or worn; do not start a season with questionable cutting hardware.
- Update software only through the manufacturer’s supported process, then test manual driving, docking, obstacle detection and emergency-stop behavior in a supervised run.
- Restore the mowing schedule only after the test completes without errors.
Troubleshooting common maintenance symptoms
| Symptom | Checks you can make safely | When to stop and seek service |
|---|---|---|
| Uneven or ragged cut | Inspect every blade, fastener and pivot; remove packed grass; verify that the installed blades match the model. | A blade is bent, a fastener will not tighten, or vibration continues after cleaning and correct replacement. |
| Wheel spins but mower does not move | Remove mud and grass from the tread and wheel gap; check for a blocked wheel and inspect for visible damage. | The wheel remains seized, wobbles, grinds or shows a damaged drive component. |
| Frequent obstacle or camera errors | Gently clean camera and sensor windows with the permitted cloth method; check for scratches, condensation or grass covering a window. | The lens is cracked, remains fogged, or errors persist after a clean restart. |
| Fails to dock or charge | Clean and dry mower and station contacts, clear the docking approach and verify station alignment and cable connections. | Contacts are burned or loose, the power supply is damaged, or the station still reports a fault. |
| Battery drains unusually fast after storage | Verify the manual’s storage charge procedure, inspect for cold-related restrictions and confirm that charging completes normally. | The battery swells, overheats, leaks or cannot reach the manufacturer’s charging state. |
When professional service is worthwhile
Seasonal service providers may offer cleaning, blade and bearing checks, sensor cleaning, software updates and winter storage. Availability is local, so verify the provider’s coverage and the exact work included. Professional help is especially sensible when the mower has water ingress, a damaged battery, repeated sensor faults, a loose drive component or a charging-station electrical problem.
Before handing over the mower, back up settings if the app supports it, remove personal location data where possible, describe the symptoms and provide the exact model and error codes. Ask the provider to use manufacturer-compatible parts and to document any battery or board replacement.

How to choose compatible replacement parts
Compatibility is more important than a generic description such as “robot lawn mower replacement blades.” Compare parts using the exact model and, where applicable, the product revision or serial range.
| Comparison point | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Model compatibility | Exact model name, revision and approved part number. |
| Blade design | Blade dimensions, pivot pattern, thickness, rotation direction and supplied fasteners. |
| Replacement interval | The manufacturer’s stated time or operating-hour recommendation, plus condition-based replacement. |
| Cleaning method | Whether the manual permits a damp cloth, hose rinsing for a named part, or no running water. |
| Sensor arrangement | Camera, proximity, lift, rain and positioning sensors that require different cleaning or protection. |
| Winter procedure | Battery charge state, battery removal, mower orientation, station and power-supply storage and cable treatment. |
| Service availability | Whether qualified local service can handle the model, battery and charging system. |
Do not infer fit from a photograph or from a blade that appears the same size. Incorrect hardware can loosen, interfere with the cutting deck or alter the mower’s balance.
