To loop a restaurant franchise promo as a YouTube livestream, run the approved video through an encoder such as OBS and send that feed to YouTube Live. For one video, use OBS’s Media Source with Loop enabled; for a sequence, use its VLC Video source with Loop Playlist. YouTube’s watch-page loop repeats ordinary playback—it does not create a livestream.
Choose the right kind of loop
If viewers should watch a normal uploaded YouTube video repeatedly, use YouTube’s playback loop controls. If the promotion must appear as a live broadcast on the channel, an encoder must send video to YouTube Live; looping in OBS supplies that repeated video.

- One promo file: OBS Media Source, with Loop enabled.
- Several promos in sequence: OBS VLC Video source, with an ordered playlist and Loop Playlist enabled. VLC must be installed.
- Ordinary YouTube playback: use YouTube’s video or playlist loop control, not Live Control Room.
See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists and OBS’s Media Sources guide.
Before you schedule the broadcast
Prepare an approved promo
Use the franchise-approved video, graphics, offer details, and music. Check that the aspect ratio and sound work in the context where viewers will watch. Confirm that prices, menu details, and dates are current; an endlessly repeated offer can remain visible after it expires.

If the audience is Kannada-speaking, use the Kannada copy approved for the channel and market. Have the franchise or channel owner confirm the script, spelling, local wording, offer terms, and brand names. The appropriate Kannada variety and franchise terminology depend on the intended audience and brand.
Confirm channel eligibility and rights
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. Check YouTube’s live-streaming tips and encoder setup instructions.

- Professional digital signage: The Amazon Signage Stick auto-launches your CMS in kiosk mode for seamless, unattended operation.
- Easy setup: Setup one or multiple Signage Sticks with the free Amazon Signage app. No tech skills needed.
- Works with over 80+ content management systems (CMS subscription may be required).
- Secure by design: Secure boot and encrypted storage keep your signage protected and running smoothly.
- Manage on the go: Create profiles, organize by location, and monitor real-time right from your phone.
The channel operator needs the rights required for every part of the broadcast, including music. YouTube’s Livestream Terms and Conditions state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Confirm that the rights cover the actual content, platform use, and territory; do not assume that a franchise-approved file automatically settles music licensing.
YouTube’s Branded Content Policies apply to livestreams. If the arrangement involves content influenced by a brand partner in exchange for something of value, assess whether it meets YouTube’s definition of branded content; if it does, declare paid promotion in Studio and make the disclosure clear and prominent. Whether a particular franchise promotion qualifies depends on the actual agreement and exchange of value, so confirm with the franchise or channel owner.

Set up OBS to loop one promo or a playlist
- Create a scene: open OBS and add a scene for the restaurant promotion.
- Add the media: in the scene’s Sources, select + and add Media Source. Choose the approved local video file. Enable Loop so OBS restarts that file after playback ends.
- For multiple promos: add a VLC Video source instead, create the playlist in the intended order, and enable Loop Playlist. Install VLC first if the source is unavailable.
- Check the scene: watch the preview through a full transition, including the end-to-start point. Listen for silence, abrupt audio, or an unintended pause, and verify that text and offer terms remain readable.
OBS documents the single-file and playlist loop controls in its Media Sources guide. A one-file loop is simpler; a playlist is more suitable when viewers should see several promos in a fixed sequence.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open Live Control Room: in YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream and locate its stream URL and stream key. Exact screen labels can change, so use YouTube’s current encoder instructions.
- Enter the ingest details in OBS: open Settings → Stream, select YouTube or the applicable ingest service, and enter the stream key and URL if requested by the selected service configuration.
- Protect the key: treat the stream key like a password. It tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not show it in a public screen share or give it to an untrusted operator. YouTube explains stream settings in Manage live stream settings.
- Start the encoder feed and check preview: start streaming from OBS, then verify that Live Control Room receives the intended video and audio before making the event public or starting the broadcast.
Choose encoder settings for the actual connection
YouTube recommends RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Its encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS, CBR bitrate encoding, frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Bitrate recommendations vary by resolution, so there is no single bitrate that is right for every connection or video.

Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance to select settings for the intended resolution and frame rate. Test the upload speed from the location that will run the stream, choose settings the connection can sustain, and check YouTube’s stream health. A high setting that the connection cannot hold can cause buffering or degraded delivery; do not choose resolution by assuming that the source file alone determines the stream’s reliability.

- Run a representative test: test the promo’s real motion and audio, rather than a still screen. YouTube recommends testing upload speed, checking preview and access, and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality.
- Check the viewer experience: confirm that the event is accessible as intended from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices. If using a wired Ethernet connection, include it in the test; YouTube also describes disconnecting Ethernet as a failover exercise, not as a requirement to use Ethernet.
- Start the broadcast: when preview and health checks are satisfactory, start the live event in Live Control Room. Keep an operator available to monitor the computer, connection, audio, video, and stream health during the broadcast.
- Review the recording: YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Afterward, inspect the recording and choose whether it should be public, unlisted, or private. Check that the promotion is still accurate before leaving the archive available.
For stream access, privacy, DVR, and archive controls, consult YouTube’s live stream settings guide.

Troubleshoot common loop and livestream problems
- The video repeats on YouTube but is not live: watch-page Loop only repeats ordinary playback. Configure an encoder such as OBS, connect it to Live Control Room, and send the feed.
- The file stops at the end: check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For several files, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist.
- VLC Video is missing: OBS’s VLC source requires VLC to be installed. Install it, then reopen or refresh OBS’s source options.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: confirm that the stream URL and key are for the intended event and entered correctly, then check the encoder connection and YouTube preview. If the key was exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- The channel cannot start a live stream: confirm verification and whether the channel has live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Stream health or playback is poor: test upload speed at the broadcast location, reduce settings to fit the available connection, and monitor YouTube’s stream health and audio/video. Use YouTube’s resolution-specific bitrate guidance rather than treating a bitrate as universal.
- Audio, offer text, or branding is wrong: inspect the preview and loop transition, then replace or correct the approved source file. Confirm the current offer and any applicable paid-promotion disclosure before restarting.
- The archive remains visible after the offer ends: review the archived stream’s visibility and remove or restrict it as appropriate, and ensure the current promo is used for any subsequent broadcast.
