This keeps the songs cycling while the encoder and connection remain active; it does not guarantee that one YouTube broadcast can run indefinitely. Confirm recording and live-use rights before broadcasting, then preview and monitor the stream.

Confirm YouTube live eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to stream live. Check the channel’s eligibility before scheduling a church broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Clear rights for the recordings and the archive
Make sure the church has the necessary rights for each recording and its use in the live feed and any resulting archive. The rights needed depend on the particular recordings, rights holders, territories, and use; YouTube’s general guidance does not determine a church’s specific licensing position. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the provider, including applicable music licensing rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder picture, interruption, or termination; a copyright strike can have further consequences. For licensed third-party material, ask the rights holder whether the channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist. A license by itself does not ensure that a live stream will avoid interruption if allowlisting is required. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Choose how to loop the Odia songs
Use a single-file loop if one recording should repeat. Use an OBS VLC Video source if the broadcast should move through several recordings in a set order.

OBS documents both options in its Media Sources guide. Arrange playlist files in the order the church wants before starting. The documented workflow is a playlist loop, not a shuffle setup.

Set up the playlist and connect OBS to YouTube
- Prepare the recordings. Keep the song files on the computer running OBS, retain a backup copy, and arrange the files in the desired play order. Confirm the church is permitted to use each recording in a live stream and archive.
- Add the playback source in OBS. For several songs, add a VLC Video source, add the local files to its playlist, and turn on Loop Playlist. Install VLC first; if OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC. For one song, add a regular Media Source and enable its Loop setting.
- Create or select the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select an existing one. Copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the process.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to the stream. If it is exposed, a channel owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room. See YouTube’s stream-settings guidance.
- Configure a supported encoder connection. YouTube documents RTMP and RTMPS encoder settings and recommends RTMPS. Use the stream URL and key provided for the stream, and select settings OBS and the available upload connection can sustain. Follow YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance rather than choosing a bitrate beyond the connection’s capacity.
- Test, preview, and go live. Start the OBS encoder, check the preview in Live Control Room, and verify that both picture and audio are correct before going live. Monitor YouTube’s stream health and messages during the broadcast.
Plan for a broadcast that is not literally indefinite
OBS can keep replaying the local playlist, but that is different from keeping a YouTube broadcast live forever. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that statement is not a promise that one stream can remain live indefinitely. Plan for people to monitor the service and for a deliberate restart or broadcast schedule. See YouTube’s encoder live-stream guide.

It does not restore an encoder that stops sending, repair a lost internet connection, or restart a YouTube broadcast that has been interrupted or terminated. If a broadcast stops, check Live Control Room for restrictions or strikes and resolve any rights or policy issues before restarting. Common problems and fixes
- The VLC Video source is missing or will not load. Confirm VLC is installed. If OBS is 64-bit, install the 64-bit VLC version, then reopen or check the source in OBS.
- The playlist stops after the last song. Check that Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source. For a single recording, use Media Source and enable Loop.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed. Recheck the stream URL and key in OBS against the stream selected in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, have a channel owner or manager reset it.
- The stream health reports connection trouble. Check the outgoing internet connection and reduce encoder demands to settings the connection can sustain, leaving upload headroom. YouTube notes that network interruptions can break a stream; see its streaming tips.
- Audio or picture is wrong in the preview. Verify the selected playlist files and source in OBS, then listen to and watch the Live Control Room preview before going live. Do not assume that a successful playlist loop means the audience is receiving the intended feed.
- YouTube warns, replaces the picture, or interrupts the stream. Check Live Control Room for copyright or policy notices. Resolve rights issues with the rights holder, including any Content ID allowlisting requirement, before restarting.
