How to Loop Malayalam Gospel Songs on YouTube Live with an OBS VLC Playlist

To loop several Malayalam gospel songs on YouTube Live, add the local audio or video files to OBS’s VLC Video source, enable Loop Playlist, then send OBS to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. VLC must be installed on the computer running OBS; for 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC. If you only need to repeat one file, OBS’s built-in Media Source with Loop is simpler.

Prepare the songs and check streaming rights

Use locally available recordings you have permission to broadcast. A song being Malayalam gospel, appearing on YouTube, or being included in a playlist does not establish that you may rebroadcast its recording. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may replace a stream with a placeholder and warn you, and continued use can lead to temporary interruption or termination. Even licensed third-party material may interrupt a live stream unless the rights holder has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm the rights for each recording and, where applicable, ask the owner about allowlisting. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

The workflow below is for media files on your computer. The official OBS guidance for its VLC source documents a local-media playlist; it does not establish that YouTube Music or an arbitrary YouTube playlist can be imported reliably as an OBS VLC playlist.

Set up a multi-song VLC playlist in OBS

  1. Install VLC. Install VLC on the computer that runs OBS. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to appear. Match the architecture: use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS. See OBS’s VLC Video Source guide.
  2. Add the source to your scene. In OBS, select the scene that should show the songs, use the Sources panel’s add control, and choose VLC Video. Add the local media files you want to play to its playlist, then arrange them in the desired order.
  3. Set the playlist behavior. Enable Loop Playlist so the source restarts after reaching the end of the media list. Leave shuffle off if the songs should play in the order you arranged; enable it only if you want a shuffled sequence. OBS documents the loop and shuffle controls in its VLC source guide.
  4. Check the scene and audio. Preview the scene, confirm the first song plays, and verify that the audio reaches the intended output. Test that the playlist advances to the next item and returns to its beginning before broadcasting.

For one song, use Media Source instead

If the stream needs to repeat only one local file, add OBS’s built-in Media Source, select the file, and enable Loop. This avoids creating a VLC playlist. OBS lists supported formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, and WAV; a file’s extension alone does not guarantee every encoding will play correctly. See OBS’s Media Sources guide.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. Check channel eligibility. YouTube says encoder streaming requires a verified channel without live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Check the current status and live controls in YouTube Studio if streaming is unavailable.
  2. Create or select an encoder stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to broadcast.
  3. Copy the connection details into OBS. In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS where available. Treat the stream key like a password: it directs the encoder feed and lets YouTube accept it. Do not share it publicly.
  4. Check the preview before going live. Start the OBS output and wait for the feed to appear in YouTube Studio’s preview. Confirm the picture, playlist playback, and audio before starting the public event.

Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance for current Live Control Room and encoder details. Interface labels can change, so use the stream’s current settings page if a label differs.

Choose quality and leave upload headroom

There is no single bitrate that fits every resolution, frame rate, and connection. Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for the output you choose and make sure your upload connection can sustain the total bitrate. For example, YouTube’s encoder table recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p/30fps; this is a recommendation for that specific encoding and format, not a universal requirement. YouTube also recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. See YouTube’s encoder settings and streaming tips.

Test with representative files and monitor stream health and audio/video during the broadcast. A playlist that loops locally is not proof that the internet connection or YouTube ingest will remain stable throughout a long event.

Troubleshooting

  • VLC Video is missing from OBS’s source list: Install VLC on the same computer as OBS, and make sure their architectures match. A 64-bit OBS installation needs 64-bit VLC.
  • The playlist stops at the end: Check that Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source. For a single-file Media Source, check its separate Loop option.
  • Songs play in an unexpected order: Reorder the playlist items and confirm shuffle is off if you need a fixed sequence.
  • YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Recheck the stream URL and key against the selected Live Control Room stream. Confirm the channel is eligible for encoder streaming and inspect the Studio preview before starting the public event.
  • The feed buffers or drops: Check stream health and available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends 20% headroom beyond total stream bitrate; reduce the output bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it.
  • The broadcast is warned, replaced, or interrupted: Review the rights for the specific recording and contact its owner about Content ID allowlisting where needed. A license does not itself guarantee uninterrupted playback if the channel has not been allowlisted.
