1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo loop one devotional video in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To cycle through several videos, use a VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. These controls repeat playback, but OBS does not document them as guaranteeing a perfectly gapless transition, so test the actual file and scene before going live.
Choose the right OBS source
| What you want to play | OBS source | Repeat control | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| One local devotional video | Media Source | Loop | OBS replays the file after playback completes. Media Source supports common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MP3, AAC and WAV. OBS Media Sources documentation |
| Several videos in sequence | VLC Video Source | Loop Playlist | Uses VLC libraries; VLC must be installed. Match VLC architecture to OBS—for example, install 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS. OBS Media Sources documentation |
Loop one devotional video in OBS
- Open OBS and select the scene that should show the devotional video.
- In the Sources panel, click + and choose Media Source. Create a new source or select an existing one.
- In the source properties, select the local video file. Confirm the file plays correctly before streaming.
- Enable Loop, then click OK. Keep the source active in the scene for the duration you want it to play.
- Preview the end of the file and its restart. Listen for an audio pause or click and watch for a black frame or visible jump.
OBS documents the Loop control as replaying the file after playback completes, not as a guarantee of a zero-frame or zero-audio-sample seam. The result can depend on the file and playback setup. See OBS’s Media Sources documentation and test your own loop before a public broadcast.

Loop a playlist of devotional videos
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. Use the version that matches your OBS architecture.
- In the selected OBS scene, click + in Sources and choose VLC Video Source.
- Add the video files in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source settings and confirm the list restarts after the final item.
- Preview transitions between files as well as the final-to-first transition. A playlist loop does not itself establish that every edit between different files will be seamless.
Set playback behavior when changing scenes
Media Source and VLC Video Source have visibility behavior that affects what happens when a source is hidden or shown. Decide this before you use multiple scenes: a source may restart when it becomes active, pause and resume, or keep playing while hidden, depending on its settings. OBS also notes that closing a Media Source file while it is inactive can cause a short delay when the source is shown again. Avoid unloading it if that reload delay would be visible or audible. OBS documents these source controls here.

- If each return to the scene should start from the beginning, use the restart behavior deliberately and preview the transition.
- If you pause and resume while hidden, check where playback resumes and whether the scene change creates an unwanted interruption.
Send the OBS output to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select a live stream. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to obtain the stream settings.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select the YouTube service if available, then enter the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. If OBS presents a connection workflow instead, follow its YouTube connection prompts.
- Treat the stream key like a password: it authorizes an encoder to send video to your channel. Do not share it publicly.
- Start the encoder feed from OBS. In Live Control Room, wait for the preview to appear and check that both the picture and audio are correct before proceeding with the broadcast.
- Monitor the stream’s audio and video quality while it is live. YouTube recommends checking the preview before starting and continuously monitoring quality. A private or unlisted rehearsal is a useful way to check the loop and stream setup without making the test public. YouTube live streaming tips.
Check music and video rights before broadcasting
Having a video file does not necessarily give you permission to livestream its music, footage, artwork or other material. YouTube’s livestream terms include music licensing rights, and its copyright guidance says live streams are scanned for third-party content. A stream may be interrupted or terminated if protected material is detected. Even music you have licensed may interrupt a stream if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel. Confirm that the license covers YouTube livestreaming, the intended territories and your planned use; ask the rights owner whether your channel needs allowlisting. Troubleshoot loop and stream problems
- The video stops at the end: For a single file, reopen Media Source properties and check Loop. For a list, check Loop Playlist in VLC Video Source.
- The source is blank or fails to play: Confirm the local file path and that the file plays correctly. For VLC Video Source, make sure VLC is installed and matches OBS’s architecture.
- Playback starts over after a scene change: Check the source’s visibility behavior. If the source is set to restart when active, being hidden and shown again can restart playback.
- Playback takes a moment to appear after returning to a scene: Check whether the Media Source file is closed while inactive; OBS warns this may cause a short reload delay.
- There is a pause, click, black frame or jump at the loop point: OBS’s loop control does not promise a gapless seam. Preview the end-to-start transition with the exact file and scene behavior you plan to use; do not assume the setting removes a gap.
- The YouTube preview does not appear: Check that OBS has the correct server URL and stream key for the selected YouTube stream, then restart the encoder feed and check Live Control Room again.
- The live stream is interrupted over music: Review YouTube’s copyright notice and confirm the material is cleared for livestreaming. If it is licensed, ask the rights owner about channel allowlisting; a license alone may not prevent interruption if allowlisting is required.
