To loop multiple Indian music videos in OBS, add the individual files to an OBS VLC Video source playlist, enable Loop Playlist, and leave Shuffle Playlist off for a fixed order. VLC must be installed; if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. Then connect OBS to an eligible YouTube live event using its stream URL and key, and preview the broadcast before taking it public.
Choose the right OBS source
| What you want to play | OBS source | Repeat and order | Dependency |
|---|---|---|---|
| One local video file | Media Source | Enable its Loop option to repeat that file. | Built into OBS. |
| Several local video files | VLC Video | Enable Loop Playlist. Set Shuffle Playlist off for the listed order, or on for randomized order. | VLC must be installed. OBS specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS. |
This method plays files stored on your computer; it is not a way to import a YouTube playlist URL. Add the files you want to the VLC Video source playlist. OBS’s documentation does not describe automatic discovery of every file in a folder or synchronization when files are added later.

OBS lists common video formats including MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, TS, GIF, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. A listed format is not a guarantee that every codec and container combination will decode on every computer.

Set up the folder playlist in OBS
- Install OBS and VLC. Match their architecture: 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC for the VLC Video source to be available.
- Prepare the video files. Keep the local files accessible to the computer that will run OBS, and decide the order in which you want them played.
- Add the playlist source. In your target scene, add a VLC Video source, then add the desired files to its playlist. The official OBS guide documents adding playlist media; it does not establish that selecting a folder imports or monitors all its contents. OBS: Media Sources
- Set repeat and order. Turn on Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a predictable sequence, or enable it if you want randomized playback. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default and Shuffle Playlist as off by default, but check the actual source properties rather than assuming they have not changed.
- Check the scene. Fit the source to the canvas and watch the OBS audio meter while the videos play. This is a practical check, not a guarantee that every file’s picture or audio will work correctly.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s getting-started guidance requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Confirm current eligibility and access in YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Create or select the live event. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, set up the event or choose the one you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides the stream URL and stream key for the connection. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. Open OBS streaming settings and enter the event’s stream URL and key as directed by the current YouTube and OBS interfaces. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a recording, screenshot, or public scene.
- Preview before broadcasting publicly. Check the Live Control Room preview for picture and audio, and verify the event’s accessibility before starting the public broadcast. Monitor audio and video quality while live; a playlist looping in OBS does not guarantee a working connection or uninterrupted YouTube event.
Check your connection and stream quality
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the stream’s total bitrate is 10 Mbps, this recommendation means having at least 12 Mbps of available upload capacity. Treat that as available capacity for the stream, not merely a speed-test result that may fluctuate or be shared with other traffic. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bandwidth guidance.

OBS playback and YouTube delivery are separate: the source can repeat locally while an unstable internet connection or event configuration still interrupts the public stream. Use the Live Control Room preview and monitor the broadcast instead of assuming the playlist setting makes the stream continuous.
Clear music-video rights before going live
Looping files in OBS does not give you permission to broadcast them. YouTube’s live-stream terms say creators must have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants; the terms also mention public-performance licenses. Read the YouTube Terms of Service and confirm that your permissions cover the videos, music, live use, and relevant territories.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it temporarily, or terminate it. Even licensed content may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Resolve any permissions and required allowlisting before going live; having a copy of a video or permission for a different use does not by itself establish live-stream rights. See YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming restrictions.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| VLC Video is missing from the source list | VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. | Install VLC; for 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC, then check the source list again. |
| The playlist stops instead of repeating | Loop Playlist is off or the wrong source is in use. | Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist. For one file, use Media Source and enable Loop. |
| Videos play in an unexpected order | Shuffle Playlist is enabled. | Turn it off if you want the listed sequence. |
| A file will not play or has no expected audio | The computer may not decode that file’s codec/container combination as expected, or the scene/source needs adjustment. | Check the file’s format and playback on the same computer, then inspect the OBS preview and audio meter. OBS’s supported-format list is not a guarantee for every file. |
| YouTube does not receive the event or the stream drops | Eligibility, event connection details, stream key, or upload capacity may be at fault. | Confirm channel access and event settings, recheck the stream URL and key without exposing it, and compare available upload capacity with YouTube’s bitrate guidance. |
| The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder | YouTube may have detected third-party material or the rights owner may not have allowlisted the channel. | Resolve the necessary live and music rights and any required Content ID allowlisting before restarting. |
