You can loop a prerecorded 4K nature video on YouTube Live with an encoder that repeats the file and sends it continuously to YouTube. For a stable stream, match the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate to YouTube’s live recommendations, leave upload bandwidth headroom, and test before going public. No setup can guarantee zero lag: the result also depends on the source file, encoder, upload connection and viewers’ playback networks.
Choose how the video will loop
YouTube accepts live video from software and standalone hardware encoders. The encoder must be able to play your prerecorded file repeatedly; the repeat control depends on the software or device you choose, so check its documentation rather than assuming a particular menu or setting.
- Local encoder: Use software or hardware you already have if it can play the file continuously and sustain the selected 4K output. The playback computer and its internet connection must remain available for the full broadcast.
- Cloud-hosted playback: YouTube’s encoder setup guide names Gyre as a service for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming and describes Full HD and 4K at 30 or 60 fps. Treat it as an option to evaluate, not a guarantee of stability or an endorsement.
For either approach, confirm that you have permission to broadcast both the video and its soundtrack. A clip being available online does not by itself establish that you may rebroadcast it.
Set 4K resolution, frame rate and bitrate
Choose the frame rate the source actually uses, then use the matching row in YouTube’s live encoder settings. The figures below are YouTube’s published live-ingestion recommendations, not independent performance measurements; the page can change, so check it when configuring a stream.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | H.264 bitrate | AV1 or H.265 bitrate | Practical tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2160p (4K), 30 fps | 30 Mbps recommended | 8–35 Mbps range | Retains 4K detail with a lower frame rate than 60 fps. |
| 2160p (4K), 60 fps | 35 Mbps recommended | 10–40 Mbps range | Can make motion look smoother, but requires more bandwidth and encoding capacity. |
Use the recommendation for the codec you select; do not apply the H.264 value to a different codec automatically. These are live-stream figures, not YouTube’s separate recommendations for uploading a finished video.
Use the core encoder settings
- Protocol: Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends it for encrypted delivery.
- Rate control: Set constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Set a two-second interval; YouTube allows a maximum of four seconds.
- Codec: Choose H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1 only if your encoder and workflow support it, and use the corresponding bitrate guidance.
At 4K, YouTube uses normal latency; 2160p streams cannot use its low-latency option. If low latency matters more than fine detail, consider a lower resolution instead.

Make sure the upload connection has headroom
Upload capacity—not download speed—determines whether your connection can reliably send the stream to YouTube. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room above the stream’s bitrate. As a simple planning guide, a 30 Mbps stream needs roughly 36 Mbps of available upload capacity, while a 35 Mbps stream needs roughly 42 Mbps, before allowing for other devices and traffic on the same connection. These are calculations applying YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation, not guarantees of performance.
- Run an upload speed test on the connection the encoder will use.
- Compare the result with your target stream bitrate and leave at least the recommended 20% headroom.
- Account for other users, uploads, backups and network activity that may compete for capacity during the broadcast.
- If capacity is insufficient or unstable, lower the output resolution or frame rate, or use a more suitable connection. Raising bitrate does not fix a weak upload connection.

Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream.
- Copy the stream key and server URL shown in the stream settings into the corresponding fields in your encoder. YouTube allows stream settings, including a stream key, to be reused; keep the key private because it is used to send video to your channel. See YouTube’s stream settings guide.
- In the encoder, select the file, enable its repeat or loop function, and set the output resolution, source frame rate, codec, bitrate, CBR and keyframe interval described above. The exact repeat control varies by encoder.
- Start with a private or unlisted test. Check the Live Control Room preview and the stream-health messages before making the broadcast public.
Test for problems before leaving the stream running
Use a test that resembles the real broadcast: include the nature video’s typical motion and any soundtrack. Watch the preview and stream-health indicators during the test and after going live. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring stream quality.
- Buffering, dropped frames or unstable stream health: Check upload capacity and competing traffic first. Reduce bitrate, frame rate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the selected output with headroom.
- Soft or inconsistent picture: Confirm the source resolution and frame rate, encoder output settings and codec-specific bitrate. A 4K output setting cannot add detail that is absent from the source.
- Loop stops or a gap appears between plays: Check the encoder’s repeat-file behavior and whether it supports continuous playback of your file. Loop controls are encoder-specific; YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not define a universal file-loop setting.
- No preview or incoming video: Verify the server URL and stream key in the encoder, then confirm that the encoder is sending. Keep the key private; if you suspect it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Playback is delayed: 4K runs at normal latency on YouTube. Lower resolution may be more appropriate if low latency matters more than 4K detail.
Or let it run in the cloud
