You can keep a prerecorded Japanese zen garden ambience program live on YouTube by sending it from an encoder—or by using a cloud service that plays uploaded video continuously. - A prepared program. Use a video file, or a playlist of files, that can play continuously. For an ambience stream, check the loop point, transitions, and audio levels so a repeat does not produce an unintended pause or abrupt change.
- Rights for every element. You must have the rights needed for the video, ambient audio, music, and any other material in the feed. Keep license and source records in case you need to resolve a claim.
- An encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder process uses a stream URL and key from Live Control Room. You can use software on a computer or choose a cloud-based service that supports continuous prerecorded video.
Choose how the stream will run
Computer and software encoder
This approach gives you control over the playback and encoder settings, but the computer, encoder, and network connection must remain running for the stream to continue. A restart, power loss, software problem, or internet interruption can stop the feed.

Cloud streaming service
A cloud service can keep prerecorded video running without leaving a home computer on. YouTube’s encoder guide describes cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video as a use case and lists Gyre as an example; that listing is not an endorsement or a statement about current prices or service guarantees. Set up a computer-based loop
- Prepare and inspect your files. Confirm the full program plays, the audio is present and not clipping, and the loop point is acceptable. If the garden footage and sound come from different sources, check rights for both.
- Enable livestreaming in YouTube. Sign in to the channel, verify it if needed, and enable livestreaming. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream and set its title, visibility, and other broadcast details.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into your encoder’s YouTube ingest settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if it may have been exposed. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the workflow.
- Set a sustainable video configuration. Use settings supported by YouTube for the intended resolution and codec. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds); its current encoder settings and bitrate guidance should be checked before production because specifications can change. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain with headroom rather than selecting the highest setting automatically.
- Configure repeat playback in your encoder. Enable looping for the media file or playlist in the encoder you choose, then confirm that playback returns to the beginning as intended. The exact control varies by encoder, so use that software’s current documentation rather than assuming menu names or behavior.
- Preview before going public. Start the encoder, inspect the Live Control Room preview, listen for audio problems, and confirm the public watch page behaves as expected. - Keep the setup monitored. For a local encoder, make a plan for power, internet outages, computer restarts, and encoder recovery. A loop in playback does not by itself restart a failed livestream.
Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can result in a warning, a temporary replacement image, interruption, or termination. YouTube also notes that even licensed content may need the rights holder to allowlist the channel before it can be streamed without interruption. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms. The terms make the creator responsible for having the necessary rights, including music licensing rights.

Plan for continuous viewing and replay separately
A 24/7 live feed and its replay archive are different things. YouTube says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That limit does not establish that a single broadcast lasting 12 hours or more will produce one complete automatic replay. If viewers need an archive, plan separate shorter sessions or make a separate recording with a workflow you control; account for the changeover so the live channel is not unintentionally offline.

Cost and equipment decisions
A local software encoder avoids a dedicated cloud-streaming subscription, but it depends on a computer and network connection remaining available and may require your time to monitor failures. A hardware encoder is optional; YouTube presents professional hardware encoders as an option for higher-production workflows, not as a requirement for a simple prerecorded ambience loop. A cloud service trades some local control for a hosted workflow. Compare the practical cost of keeping a PC, connection, and monitoring in place against the service’s current terms; no single setup is best for every channel.
